00:00:06.480 --> 00:00:06.800
Hello.

00:00:06.800 --> 00:00:16.585
I'm Frank Macha, clinical psychologist and one of the founding members of the Institute for Psychological Sciences and now known as Divine Mercy University.

00:00:16.805 --> 00:00:33.620
And I'm here to, reflect on the beginnings of the institute and in particular, the the pivotal role that Paul Bitz has played in the forming of the the Institute for Psychological Sciences.

00:00:34.320 --> 00:00:45.835
I remember, first of all, meeting Paul through some experiences in continuing education, with the Catholic Institute for Psychological Sciences.

00:00:45.895 --> 00:01:01.530
And it was there that I really began to be formed in understanding how to bring the truth of the science of psychology and the truths of the Catholic church together and I'm indebted to Paul for his guidance in in being able to do so.

00:01:02.070 --> 00:01:30.750
I visited in the fall of nineteen ninety nine one of his classes, which was being held at a hotel, and was just amazed at his, his knowledge, his breadth of, teaching capacity, how he really put forth to the students, in that course, a personality theory that was consistent with the faith and really got hooked to Ein that this is what I was also called to be doing.

00:01:31.290 --> 00:01:34.910
And so through the years, he's been a wonderful mentor.

00:01:35.610 --> 00:01:39.550
We've collaborated on a number of dissertation projects.

00:01:40.490 --> 00:01:51.095
I I've always learned from him, and and his history of having wrestled with a lot of the the issues that I would come to to grapple with myself.

00:01:51.875 --> 00:01:56.455
And so I'm indebted to you, Paul, for your your friendship and your leadership.

00:01:57.600 --> 00:02:01.540
Congratulations and well wishes on a well earned retirement.

00:02:02.320 --> 00:02:07.380
I think you have epitomized the commandment to be, a faithful servant.

00:02:07.920 --> 00:02:17.965
Your mentorship and guidance has had a profound impact on my life and my career, how I've come to practice psychology in a way consistent with the faith.

00:02:18.425 --> 00:02:22.045
And I know it's done that for countless other, people.

00:02:22.425 --> 00:02:27.740
And so you really have been, an inspiration for us all.

00:02:27.800 --> 00:02:40.220
I I pray that you'll be able to enjoy and be at peace, knowing and trusting that others will carry the banner of Catholic psychology forward, the one that you initiated and, did with such a good effect.

00:02:41.295 --> 00:02:52.035
And I wanna personally thank you for your willingness to risk, as you did in your career, to share your wisdom and to engage in fellowship, with us all at the institute.

00:02:52.575 --> 00:02:53.635
You will not be forgotten.

00:02:54.015 --> 00:02:57.240
Even more so, you are going to be fondly remembered.

00:02:57.380 --> 00:02:58.600
So thank you, Paul.
