00:00:04.640 --> 00:00:04.800
Hi.

00:00:04.800 --> 00:00:06.000
I'm Landon Downing.

00:00:06.000 --> 00:00:07.620
I'm from Wichita, Kansas.

00:00:08.560 --> 00:00:12.160
I'm, currently finishing, counseling five eighty.

00:00:12.160 --> 00:00:15.140
So this is my second residency here.

00:00:16.485 --> 00:00:21.145
I am excited to get to share with you a little bit about why I chose Divine Mercy University.

00:00:22.085 --> 00:00:25.385
I was a theology student at Benedictine College.

00:00:25.605 --> 00:00:28.665
Counseling was always kind of a background dream of mine.

00:00:29.205 --> 00:00:37.520
And then through, FOCUS, I heard of Divine Mercy at different conferences, and, it was a dream school for me.

00:00:37.520 --> 00:00:43.600
But in my state, there was a while where, I wouldn't have gotten accredited by by coming to DMU.

00:00:43.600 --> 00:00:48.815
And as soon as they were CACREP accredited, I was pumped to to, sign up.

00:00:48.815 --> 00:01:01.770
And so going through the process, learning more about the Catholic Christian meta model of the person, that we can understand from a Catholic Christian perspective what it means to be a human and what it means to flourish as a human being.

00:01:01.770 --> 00:01:08.430
To just be grounded in that, and what that means for the counseling profession has been such a gift.

00:01:08.970 --> 00:01:14.345
This program has been enriching, not only professionally, but, especially personally for me.

00:01:15.205 --> 00:01:28.505
I've began, to look at people differently to find the goodness in everyone that I meet and and everyone that I encounter while also being given the skills to, hopefully, one day be a a mental health professional myself.

00:01:28.900 --> 00:01:33.700
I'm in the program part time, so I'm kinda taking a less traditional long term route.

00:01:33.700 --> 00:01:40.340
But, here being, at my second residency, I got to come last summer, and I'm here again.

00:01:40.340 --> 00:01:46.715
And just the opportunity, with an online program, you don't necessarily get that much, in person connection.

00:01:46.715 --> 00:01:53.775
But to be here at residency in the flesh with people who are in the trenches with you, is so fulfilling, and rewarding.

00:01:54.400 --> 00:01:55.140
It's exciting.

00:01:55.200 --> 00:02:04.260
I both last residency and already this residency, I'm, feeling a a sense of purpose and and excitement about the the future.

00:02:04.640 --> 00:02:05.620
I love DMU.

00:02:06.000 --> 00:02:10.435
I enjoy talking about it to anyone and everyone.

00:02:10.975 --> 00:02:12.915
I I I wear it proudly.

00:02:13.375 --> 00:02:16.515
So definitely a huge proponent of of the university.

00:02:17.081 --> 00:02:20.781
I'm very grateful for all that they've done for me and for for many others.
