[00:00:00] I'm sorry. I've come with my. [00:00:10] And I forgot that you're in a. [00:06:49] Jesus, we thank you, God almighty, that you have given us your word. [00:06:56] We thank you for the Bible, Lord, we thank you for the truth. [00:06:59] We thank you that you've given us your believers, your followers. [00:07:03] You've given us your Holy Spirit to lead us and guide us into all truth. [00:07:08] Lord, I ask you to help us as we walk by faith and not by sight, [00:07:13] as we are in constant spiritual warfare against the forces of darkness. [00:07:19] Lord, we ask for your strength. [00:07:21] We ask for discernment and revelation. [00:07:24] We ask that you would put in us a heart that will fight and fight and fight [00:07:30] and keep fighting and not grow weary and well doing. [00:07:35] Lord, help us to be those kind of people, Lord. [00:07:38] I pray, and it's in Jesus name that we pray. Amen. Amen. [00:07:43] You may be seated this morning. [00:07:46] Welcome, everyone, to Fire and Grace Church. [00:07:49] Those watching and listening from all over. [00:07:51] All right. Y'all ready to get into it? [00:07:56] I had to run to my office. [00:07:57] I had to find a quote in a Charles Finney's book. [00:08:04] I'm going to read this here. [00:08:06] And if you've never read Charles Finney's book, [00:08:09] Revival Lectures, of course, it's kind of a thick book. [00:08:13] And if you don't know who Charles Finney was, [00:08:15] he was one of the greatest revivalist America has ever known. [00:08:19] Pretty much just him. [00:08:22] He spearheaded the Second Great Awakening. [00:08:26] He was so filled with the Holy Spirit that [00:08:31] he would go in places and thousands of people would just fall [00:08:34] under conviction of the Holy Spirit and get saved. [00:08:38] He was a lawyer by trade, and so he knew how to argue his case. [00:08:44] He also knew the power of prayer. [00:08:46] And he talked about if you have much of the spirit of God. [00:08:51] And this is what I I want to help you with. [00:08:54] If you if you love Jesus and you are full of the Holy Spirit [00:09:00] and you're all about following him, of course, you need to understand [00:09:04] that you're going to be targeted by the devil. [00:09:09] He's going to leave the lukewarm ones alone. [00:09:10] He's got them. All right. [00:09:13] I want to read something that Charles Finney said. [00:09:15] And this is in his chapter on being filled with the spirit. [00:09:20] And it's just excellent. It says here, he said, [00:09:28] basically, if you have much of the spirit of God, [00:09:32] you must expect very frequent and agonizing [00:09:36] conflicts with Satan. [00:09:38] Satan has very little trouble with those Christians [00:09:41] who are not spiritual, but lukewarm and slothful [00:09:44] and worldly minded and such do not understand [00:09:48] what is said about spiritual conflicts. [00:09:50] Perhaps they will smile when such things are mentioned. [00:09:54] And so the devil lets them alone. [00:09:57] They do not disturb him nor he them. [00:10:00] But spiritual Christians, he understands very well [00:10:04] and they are doing him a vast injury and therefore [00:10:07] he sets himself against them. [00:10:09] Such Christians often have terrible conflicts. [00:10:13] They have temptations that they never thought of before. [00:10:16] Blasphemous thoughts, doubts, atheism, [00:10:20] suggestions to do deeds of wickedness to destroy [00:10:24] their own lives and the like. [00:10:26] And if you are spiritual, you may expect these [00:10:31] spiritual conflicts. [00:10:33] And that's just one of his points that he makes [00:10:38] in revival lectures. [00:10:40] The battle is real. [00:10:43] And I'm just going to say this. [00:10:44] I've been over my many years of walking with the Lord [00:10:47] Jesus through times of such intense spiritual [00:10:52] battle, mental, emotional, physical, [00:10:57] from other people, persecutions and times. [00:11:02] It just seems like that you just want to slow down, [00:11:07] just give up, stop, you know, back away. [00:11:13] And what the Lord has always shown me [00:11:17] is that it just takes a person to overcome these things. [00:11:22] You have to be a person who will refuse [00:11:26] no matter what you feel that you refuse to back away [00:11:34] from your intensity to follow Jesus and to fight [00:11:39] the devil and to resist temptation. [00:11:43] In fact, it's not real faith if you see it. [00:11:49] You understand? [00:11:50] Or what I'm saying too is if you're, if you feel [00:11:54] it, you get what I'm saying? [00:11:56] If you feel, have to feel it for it to be real to you, [00:12:00] if you have to feel good and riding high in the Holy [00:12:02] Spirit all the time to do what you need to do, [00:12:05] you're still immature and you're going to have to [00:12:09] learn the lesson that sometimes, in fact, a lot [00:12:13] of the times and the older you get in the Lord [00:12:16] as you walk with him, you're going to have to [00:12:18] just maintain your intensity no matter how you feel. [00:12:26] In fact, that's kind of the definition of an adult. [00:12:29] You know, we go to work and we don't feel like it, right? [00:12:34] We take care of our kids when we got a fever, right? [00:12:38] You understand? [00:12:40] It's like the body and the mind will try to [00:12:45] tell you, just back away. [00:12:49] And that's what the devil wants. [00:12:50] He wants you to back away. [00:12:52] And see, here's what happens. [00:12:54] If you back away from prayer, if you back away [00:12:56] from the word, if you back away from worship time, [00:12:58] if you back away from church and fellowship and [00:13:01] those that you back away, the devil knows you're [00:13:04] going to get slowly get weaker and weaker and [00:13:07] weaker, and then he's got you, then he can [00:13:11] bring the stuff and you just cave like a house [00:13:14] of cards in a whirlwind. [00:13:17] You have to maintain your intensity and walk by [00:13:21] faith and not by sight in those times when [00:13:25] the battle is intense. [00:13:28] This is why in Ephesians six, when he said, [00:13:32] what, having done all to stand, stand, meaning [00:13:38] don't allow yourself to lose any ground. [00:13:42] Don't move backwards. [00:13:46] You hear me? [00:13:49] There's no rope-a-dopes in this, uh, battle. [00:13:52] And for you people that don't understand a [00:13:53] rope-a-dope is what Muhammad Ali used to do. [00:13:56] He used to just move backwards and let them [00:14:00] wear out and he would guard himself the [00:14:01] best he could, but he'd let the other fighter [00:14:04] wear out, especially as he got older. [00:14:06] This was his trick. [00:14:07] And then he would start pounding them. [00:14:09] But when the devil, you can't give up ground. [00:14:14] You can't step back. [00:14:16] You can't ease up your intensity. [00:14:19] You can't do it. [00:14:22] Somebody say don't lose ground, but I'm going [00:14:27] to tell you the number one way Christians lose [00:14:29] ground, I'm going to tell you what laziness. [00:14:35] The fact is a lot of times I don't feel like it. [00:14:39] I'm tired way, way, way, right? [00:14:50] One thing that we learn about our soldiers [00:14:52] is if they're in the midst of a battle, they [00:14:56] don't even get, take a break, go to the bathroom. [00:15:00] Why? [00:15:01] Cause you, you get up, I got to go run to [00:15:02] the bathroom and then you get shot. [00:15:10] And that's one of the things I've [00:15:12] shared this before, but you know, our Navy [00:15:15] seals and special forces, one of the things [00:15:17] that their training takes them through. [00:15:19] And the reason they put them through such [00:15:21] hell is to make them realize that their mind can [00:15:29] overcome what the body's trying to tell them. [00:15:33] Meaning they, they realize that they can [00:15:35] push their body further than they ever realized. [00:15:39] And basically what they learn to do is tell [00:15:42] the body, the flesh, no matter how much [00:15:44] pain it's in, no matter how uncomfortable [00:15:46] it is, keep doing your job. [00:15:51] That's what they learned. [00:15:53] The rest of us, that's why so many of [00:15:55] them in seal training ring the bell and leave. [00:16:01] They finally give in and say, my body [00:16:04] just can't take it anymore. [00:16:06] I'm done. [00:16:08] And this is what a lot of Christians do. [00:16:09] It's too, it gets too hard. [00:16:12] It's too difficult. [00:16:14] So I'm going to retreat into Luke [00:16:18] Warmville and Luke Warmville. [00:16:24] The devil goes, Oh, let me just leave [00:16:25] them alone. [00:16:27] And that person starts thinking, Oh, I found [00:16:29] a place of peace, but let me tell you, [00:16:31] it's a false piece. [00:16:34] It's a place where the reason you're [00:16:36] having some peace is because you've [00:16:38] waved the white flag of surrender. [00:16:41] You see in this battle we have with Satan [00:16:44] and the forces of darkness and all his [00:16:45] evil in the world, we must keep moving [00:16:50] forward. [00:16:51] And what do I mean by that drawing [00:16:53] closer to Jesus, filling ourselves [00:16:56] with his word, being in prayer, and [00:16:59] then doing things that he tells us to do. [00:17:02] And if you don't spend time with him, [00:17:04] if you don't fast, if you don't pray, [00:17:06] if you don't meditate and stay in [00:17:07] the word, read the word, study the [00:17:09] word, then you will not be able to [00:17:11] hear what the Holy Spirit is telling [00:17:14] you to do. [00:17:14] And if you don't hear what the [00:17:15] Holy Spirit is telling you to do, [00:17:17] then he succeeded at cutting you off [00:17:20] from communication and then we don't [00:17:22] move forward because you have to hear [00:17:25] things that the Holy Spirit wants you [00:17:27] to do and do them for the kingdom of [00:17:30] God to advance, to reach the laws, [00:17:33] to reach the prodigals. [00:17:35] You have to hear his voice and move [00:17:38] forward and do things. [00:17:39] Like I've said before, there's [00:17:40] nowhere in the Bible that it says [00:17:42] Dean Odell, go to Opelika, Alabama, [00:17:46] go to your hometown and start a [00:17:48] church. [00:17:49] It's not written in here. [00:17:50] I've checked. [00:17:53] So how did I know that's what I was [00:17:55] supposed to do to advance the [00:17:57] kingdom of God? [00:17:58] Not everybody's called to start a [00:17:59] church or pastor a church, so [00:18:01] you have to know what God wants [00:18:03] you to do. [00:18:04] And that's how the kingdom of [00:18:05] God expands. [00:18:07] That's how we win battles against [00:18:09] the devil. [00:18:10] And the battles that we are fighting [00:18:12] are for these unsaved lost souls. [00:18:15] He's lost people around us that [00:18:16] if we don't do what God wants us [00:18:19] to do, if we don't win the [00:18:21] battles, if we don't move [00:18:22] forward, then they are going to [00:18:25] be lost. [00:18:27] We are the Lord's witnesses, [00:18:30] messengers. [00:18:32] We are his ambassadors on this [00:18:34] earth. [00:18:35] He has chosen to do it that way. [00:18:38] Yes, he could say, I don't need [00:18:40] them and I'll do it all myself, [00:18:41] but that's not the way he set it [00:18:43] up. [00:18:44] He set it up to say, if you will [00:18:46] follow me, I will fill you. [00:18:49] I will empower you. [00:18:51] And if you will surrender your [00:18:52] life to me and become a good [00:18:54] soldier of Jesus Christ, then [00:18:59] you're going to see you're going [00:19:01] to you're going to set captives [00:19:03] free. [00:19:04] You're going to reach the lost. [00:19:06] You're going to help the POWs [00:19:09] we have get free. [00:19:12] That's what deliverance is all [00:19:13] about. [00:19:16] We got POWs, so many of them, but [00:19:18] we got a lot of AWOL too. [00:19:22] You got you got a little lead [00:19:24] for three days and you made it [00:19:25] 30 or three years. [00:19:28] Some people walked away from the [00:19:30] Lord and they knew him. [00:19:32] They walked with him and walked [00:19:35] away from the Lord, walked [00:19:38] away from that intensity of [00:19:42] going after him and going after [00:19:44] the devil and after the world [00:19:46] and getting in this battle and [00:19:48] fighting it. [00:19:49] They've lost their intensity and [00:19:50] they just found a church that [00:19:52] will tell them what they want to [00:19:53] hear that's comfortable and [00:19:58] they sit there and convince [00:19:59] themselves that they're winning [00:20:02] this battle. [00:20:06] You know, I don't want to go [00:20:09] into eternity and the Lord look [00:20:15] at me and go because you didn't [00:20:18] obey me because you didn't keep [00:20:21] your intensity. [00:20:25] I want to show you all these [00:20:26] thousands of people that went [00:20:27] to hell because you didn't obey [00:20:29] me. [00:20:30] So blood's on your hand, son. [00:20:34] But see, it doesn't just go for [00:20:35] me. [00:20:37] It goes for you. [00:20:40] Maybe God's only called you to [00:20:42] reach one person. [00:20:44] You better, you better reach that [00:20:47] person because this life is all [00:20:52] about what, what we do. [00:20:55] Do we do the will of God? [00:20:56] See, that's the part a lot of [00:20:57] people don't like. [00:20:58] It's like, oh, Pastor Dean, [00:21:00] know it's all by grace and I'm [00:21:01] eternally secure if I just [00:21:03] believe it. [00:21:04] Oh, really? [00:21:06] Why does it say over and over [00:21:07] again, he who does the will of [00:21:09] God will live forever. [00:21:15] Let me show you this. [00:21:16] Let's go to, uh, second Kings [00:21:19] chapter 13. [00:21:20] I want to read this right here. [00:21:21] This is something that stood out [00:21:23] to me the last few days because [00:21:30] I'm going to tell you, there are [00:21:32] some weeks that maybe you [00:21:37] can't see it on the outside, [00:21:40] but I just go through what I'll [00:21:45] just call just a spiritual and [00:21:49] mental hell for a while. [00:21:53] And then, of course, I slammed my [00:21:55] finger in my door too. [00:21:57] So those things will happen and [00:21:58] broke my finger. [00:22:00] As you can see, this fingernail [00:22:01] is going to come off. [00:22:02] I probably at some point and [00:22:06] that hurt. [00:22:06] Like somebody had beaten me [00:22:09] with a aluminum bat. [00:22:12] Um, goodness, but the, you [00:22:15] know, you just stack these [00:22:16] things up and it sometimes it [00:22:18] seems like it's just one thing [00:22:19] after another, after another, [00:22:21] after another, and then you got [00:22:24] to go, all right, well, you [00:22:27] know, some people know this is [00:22:28] what a lot of, a lot of [00:22:29] Christians do when it gets [00:22:32] intense and difficult, they go [00:22:35] smoke a joint because they need [00:22:37] to relax or they go have a few [00:22:43] couple of drinks. [00:22:44] You know, I'm not getting [00:22:44] drunk. [00:22:45] I'm just, I'm just relaxing, [00:22:47] just dealing with helping my [00:22:48] nerves or for a lot of people [00:22:55] they go to porn because that [00:22:58] releases all kinds of chemicals [00:23:00] in the brain, it's called [00:23:01] neurotoxin, everything mixes [00:23:03] together and oh yeah, it's like [00:23:04] a drug and some people go from [00:23:08] that, go to actual sex, sexual [00:23:11] sin, because again, they're [00:23:13] looking for a feeling, they're [00:23:17] looking for something to feel [00:23:18] satisfied. [00:23:19] Some people, they love spending [00:23:20] money or gambling because that [00:23:23] gives them some pump of [00:23:25] adrenaline and some excitement, [00:23:26] some, some dopamine, right? [00:23:33] But see, this is where we as [00:23:34] Christians have to overcome, [00:23:36] not just the flesh, but the [00:23:39] carnal mind to see the mind is, [00:23:44] is what you end up doing what [00:23:47] stays up here. [00:23:50] And if you let those things [00:23:51] stay in there, you end up [00:23:55] doing them. [00:23:55] This is why it's so important [00:23:57] when someone starts talking [00:23:58] about suicide to take it [00:24:00] seriously, because if they're [00:24:01] talking about it, that means [00:24:04] they've been thinking about it [00:24:05] for a while because from the [00:24:06] abundance of the heart, the [00:24:07] mouth speaks. [00:24:09] So if they start talking about [00:24:10] it, then they could be very [00:24:14] close to acting upon it. [00:24:18] And again, all of that with [00:24:20] even the spirit of suicide is [00:24:23] about giving up. [00:24:24] It's about, I can't take [00:24:25] anymore. [00:24:25] It's about, I need relief from [00:24:28] this world or whatever I'm [00:24:30] going through my family [00:24:31] situation or the abuse I [00:24:33] suffered or my own stupid [00:24:35] mistakes or my drug addiction [00:24:37] or my alcohol addiction. [00:24:39] I want to run from this and [00:24:41] have relief. [00:24:42] So they put it in their [00:24:44] mind that if I end it, I'm [00:24:45] going to, I'm going to be at [00:24:46] rest, right? [00:24:49] Not realizing that kill [00:24:52] yourself, you're a murderer [00:24:55] and no murderer has eternal [00:24:56] life abiding in them. [00:24:57] According to 1st John, [00:24:58] chapter three, and you're [00:25:00] dead now, so you can't [00:25:01] repent. [00:25:03] So it's kind of final. [00:25:08] A lot of people, I've known [00:25:09] people back in the day, [00:25:11] there was a young man that [00:25:14] I had led to the Lord and [00:25:15] baptized in water and who [00:25:18] was on fire for Jesus for [00:25:19] awhile, but through [00:25:22] different things. [00:25:23] Family issues, his own [00:25:25] rebellion, his pressure from [00:25:30] his friends and all that [00:25:31] stuff, he went back to [00:25:34] drinking and partying. [00:25:35] And then he was killed in a [00:25:38] car accident and this was [00:25:39] here in Beulah. [00:25:41] And I, I knew his family [00:25:43] well. [00:25:45] In fact, I had led his [00:25:46] whole family to Jesus, his [00:25:47] mom, his dad, and they [00:25:50] were on fire for Jesus. [00:25:52] And I will never forget [00:25:56] the cries of that mother as [00:26:00] she laid over his coffin [00:26:04] because he lost his [00:26:06] intensity to stay with [00:26:07] Jesus. [00:26:11] That was one of the saddest [00:26:12] days of my life watching [00:26:16] that. [00:26:18] And he was only probably [00:26:20] when he was killed 18, 19, [00:26:23] maybe 20, I can't remember [00:26:25] now, but a long time ago, [00:26:30] I've seen people back away, [00:26:33] fall away, just simply [00:26:36] because they would not keep [00:26:38] fighting no matter how they [00:26:39] felt. [00:26:42] I can't stress this enough. [00:26:46] I don't care what your [00:26:47] brain tells you, what your [00:26:49] body tells you, you're [00:26:52] either going to keep [00:26:53] believing the word of God [00:26:54] and seeking after him, or [00:26:57] you're going to give up, [00:26:58] draw back, get lazy, and [00:27:02] be in a very dangerous [00:27:04] place. [00:27:07] I want to show you [00:27:07] something here about not [00:27:10] having the intensity you [00:27:11] should have. [00:27:12] This is a second Kings, [00:27:15] Chapter 13. [00:27:18] We're going to go down to [00:27:19] verse 14 and read there. [00:27:21] Now, Elisha, this is Elisha, [00:27:23] the prophet who had the [00:27:24] double portion of Elijah's [00:27:26] anointing of the Holy [00:27:28] Spirit upon him. [00:27:29] It says, now Elisha was [00:27:30] fallen sick of his [00:27:32] sickness, whereof he died. [00:27:34] And Joash, the king of [00:27:36] Israel came down into [00:27:37] him and wept over his [00:27:38] face and said, Oh, my [00:27:40] father, my father, the [00:27:41] chariot of Israel and [00:27:42] the horsemen thereof. [00:27:44] And Elisha said unto him, [00:27:45] take bow and arrows. [00:27:47] And he took unto him bow [00:27:49] and arrows. [00:27:49] And he said to the king [00:27:50] of Israel, put thine [00:27:51] hand upon the bow and he [00:27:54] put his hand upon it. [00:27:55] And Elisha put his hands [00:27:57] upon the king's hands. [00:27:59] And he said, open the [00:28:00] window eastward and he [00:28:03] opened it. [00:28:03] Then Elisha said, shoot. [00:28:06] And he shot. [00:28:07] And he said, the arrow of [00:28:08] the Lord's deliverance and [00:28:10] the arrow of deliverance [00:28:11] from Syria, for thou shalt [00:28:13] smite the Syrians in [00:28:15] affect, tell thou have [00:28:16] consumed them. [00:28:18] And he said, take the arrows [00:28:20] and he took them and he [00:28:21] said unto the king of [00:28:22] Israel, smite upon the [00:28:23] ground and he smoked thrice [00:28:26] or three times and [00:28:26] stopped. [00:28:28] And the man of God was [00:28:29] Roth or very angry with [00:28:31] him and said, thou should [00:28:33] us have smitten five or [00:28:34] six times. [00:28:36] Then had thou smitten [00:28:37] Syria, tell thou has [00:28:38] consumed it, whereas now [00:28:40] thou shalt smite Syria, [00:28:42] but thrice and Elisha died [00:28:44] and they buried him. [00:28:46] I'm going to stop there. [00:28:48] Now, Israel, you have to [00:28:51] remember, this is after [00:28:52] Solomon, the kingdom [00:28:54] divided, ten tribes [00:28:56] went to the north to [00:28:59] Samaria and all the [00:29:01] kings of Israel, they [00:29:02] created basically a [00:29:03] counterfeit, false system [00:29:06] of worship up there. [00:29:08] Jeroboam did. [00:29:10] And all the kings, if you [00:29:13] go through first and [00:29:15] second Kings, first and [00:29:16] second Chronicles, and you [00:29:17] pay attention, you will [00:29:18] notice it'll talk about [00:29:20] you had the kingdom, the [00:29:21] north kingdom of Israel. [00:29:22] And then there was the [00:29:23] kingdom of Judah. [00:29:24] Okay. [00:29:25] In the south and [00:29:26] Jerusalem, and you'll [00:29:28] notice that every single [00:29:30] king of Israel, of the [00:29:32] northern kingdom who was [00:29:34] wicked, every single one [00:29:38] was disobedient to God, [00:29:40] was into idolatry, was [00:29:42] rebellious, was a problem. [00:29:46] Not one said that they [00:29:48] serve the Lord or love [00:29:49] the Lord with all their [00:29:50] heart and was true to God. [00:29:52] Now, in the southern [00:29:54] kingdom, you would see [00:29:56] every now and then you [00:29:56] see a good king, a bad [00:29:57] king, a good king, a bad [00:29:59] king. That's where you [00:29:59] had Hezekiah, good king [00:30:01] and Josiah, of course. [00:30:06] So every now and then [00:30:07] you'd have a righteous [00:30:08] king in Judah, but never [00:30:10] in Israel. [00:30:11] Now, here's what blows my [00:30:12] mind. And here's what's so [00:30:13] powerful is we'll just [00:30:16] say that, oh, King here, [00:30:18] Joe Hesh, the king of [00:30:20] Israel, we know that he [00:30:22] was not a righteous man. [00:30:25] Okay. [00:30:27] And in fact, we can even [00:30:28] back up where it says in [00:30:29] verse 11, where it says [00:30:32] he did that, which was [00:30:32] evil on the side of the [00:30:33] Lord and departed not [00:30:34] from all the sins of [00:30:35] Jeroboam, the son of [00:30:36] Nebat who made Israel to [00:30:38] sin, but he walked therein. [00:30:41] Now, what makes this [00:30:42] amazing though, and I [00:30:45] think that this is a [00:30:46] picture of so many [00:30:49] Christians in America, in [00:30:52] the West, that we live [00:30:56] kind of with a foot in [00:30:58] both worlds. We got a foot [00:31:01] in the church, in the [00:31:03] kingdom of God, in [00:31:04] Christianity, we got our [00:31:05] other foot in the world [00:31:06] and we're trying to, we're [00:31:08] trying to walk that fence. [00:31:10] And it was obvious here, [00:31:12] what's amazing, I think, [00:31:13] is that this king of [00:31:16] Israel had enough sense to [00:31:18] know when Elisha was dying, [00:31:20] that this was a man of [00:31:22] God. This was a warrior. [00:31:24] This is the one who God [00:31:26] used to give them [00:31:27] information on Syria, to [00:31:30] fight the battles between [00:31:32] them in Syria, to hear [00:31:33] from God. He was like, [00:31:37] oh crap, you know, the [00:31:40] prophets going away. And [00:31:43] he was really, I think God [00:31:46] had mercy on this man [00:31:49] because he acknowledged [00:31:51] the prophet, he acknowledged [00:31:52] the man of God, he [00:31:53] acknowledged the anointing [00:31:54] on him. And he really [00:31:55] realized, I think, wow, [00:31:56] this is the guy who God [00:31:58] used to keep delivering us [00:32:00] from the Syrian armies [00:32:03] and invasion. And what [00:32:05] Elisha was doing here, [00:32:07] God had Elisha do this, [00:32:12] had him shoot the arrow and [00:32:15] these prophets did these [00:32:16] things sometimes with [00:32:17] these symbols and with [00:32:18] these illustrations, but [00:32:20] shoot the arrow out the [00:32:22] window. When he shot the [00:32:24] arrow out the window, [00:32:25] this is the arrow, the [00:32:26] Lord's deliverance from [00:32:27] Syria. This is your [00:32:29] promise of victory over [00:32:33] Syria, that the Lord's [00:32:34] going to be with you. And [00:32:38] then he said, take the [00:32:40] arrows and smite them on [00:32:41] the ground. Now, [00:32:43] remember, sometimes these [00:32:45] things, the Lord does, he [00:32:47] doesn't tempt us with evil, [00:32:49] but he does test us. And [00:32:53] when the King of Israel [00:32:55] smoked three times and [00:32:56] stopped, Elisha was very [00:32:59] angry. He said, you [00:33:02] should have done it five [00:33:03] or six times. Had you [00:33:04] done it five or six times, [00:33:06] even though he wasn't a [00:33:07] righteous man, he said, [00:33:09] if you'd have done it [00:33:10] five or six times, [00:33:12] instead of three, you [00:33:15] would have defeated Syria [00:33:16] completely destroy the [00:33:17] kingdom and never had to [00:33:18] deal with this enemy [00:33:19] again. And what this is [00:33:23] an illustration of is the [00:33:24] Lord leaves it up to us to [00:33:26] decide how intense we're [00:33:29] going to be about this [00:33:31] walk with Jesus, how [00:33:33] intense we are going to be [00:33:35] about believing the word [00:33:36] of God, no matter what, [00:33:39] how intense we're going [00:33:40] to be when we face [00:33:41] persecution, when we face [00:33:45] reproach, when we face [00:33:47] sickness, difficulty, [00:33:49] pain, constant demonic [00:33:51] attacks, losing someone [00:33:55] close to us. How are we [00:33:58] going to respond? Are we [00:33:59] going to become lazy, get [00:34:01] offended with God, get [00:34:02] angry because everything [00:34:03] ain't working out the way [00:34:04] we want it to work out or [00:34:07] God's not making it easy [00:34:09] for us. Are we going to [00:34:13] get lazy and just smite [00:34:16] three times? You know [00:34:17] what I can, I'll just, I [00:34:19] think what made the man [00:34:21] of God so angry, he did [00:34:24] not see the intensity and [00:34:26] the fight in this king. [00:34:31] Think about us. The Lord [00:34:35] knows everything out there [00:34:37] in this world system, [00:34:39] this beast Antichrist [00:34:40] system that is arrayed [00:34:43] against us. Spiritual [00:34:45] forces, governmental [00:34:49] forces, economic forces, [00:34:52] pharmaceutical forces, [00:34:54] everything in this entire [00:34:57] evil system is meant to [00:35:01] push us backwards to make [00:35:03] us weak, tired, defeated, [00:35:06] sick, and to give up. You [00:35:12] just under, you gotta [00:35:13] understand this. Satan, [00:35:14] the fallen angels, the [00:35:16] demon spirits, and the [00:35:18] people that serve them are [00:35:19] at war with us every single [00:35:23] day. Everything they do [00:35:25] is motivated at defeating [00:35:28] true born again Christians. [00:35:32] They want us stamped out, [00:35:36] annihilated, removed from [00:35:38] this earth because they [00:35:41] know that the power of [00:35:43] Jesus that works through [00:35:44] us and the truth that [00:35:45] comes through us and the [00:35:47] influence we have on [00:35:48] people, reminding them [00:35:49] that they need to do [00:35:50] good, even wicked kings, [00:35:52] reminding them that they [00:35:53] need to do things. Just [00:35:55] being a voice, being a [00:35:56] light influences our [00:35:59] leaders, even if they're [00:36:00] wicked. In fact, I [00:36:05] remember Walter Cronkite [00:36:08] speech when he won the [00:36:11] Norman Cousins Award from [00:36:12] the world, you know, [00:36:14] wanting the World [00:36:15] Federation, wanting the [00:36:16] world government. He [00:36:17] won the top world [00:36:19] government award that [00:36:20] there was. And he was [00:36:22] furious that who was a [00:36:25] Pat Robertson had wrote a [00:36:27] book about the New World [00:36:30] Order and where he said [00:36:33] we're not going to have a [00:36:35] utopia or a new kingdom [00:36:37] until Jesus, the Messiah [00:36:39] returns in any attempt to [00:36:41] set that up beforehand is [00:36:43] of the Antichrist or of [00:36:45] Satan and Walter Cronkite [00:36:46] said, Hey, I'm glad to [00:36:48] stand at the right hand [00:36:49] of Satan. And he was so [00:36:50] angry that the Christian [00:36:53] right, he said, were [00:36:54] influencing senators and [00:36:56] congressmen to move away [00:36:59] from the UN to not pay [00:37:00] our UN dues and did not [00:37:01] go along with the UN [00:37:02] agenda. And it was really [00:37:05] the pressure from [00:37:06] Christians and all these [00:37:09] places that was that was [00:37:10] doing that. And let me [00:37:11] just add this with the [00:37:12] whole thing, but Trump, [00:37:13] everybody wants to be [00:37:14] Trump's evil. Trump's [00:37:15] this, Trump's that. Let [00:37:16] me tell you something, [00:37:17] whether he is evil or [00:37:19] not, the Lord told me [00:37:21] this about him. I put [00:37:23] my hand upon him. When [00:37:25] Elisha, the prophet put [00:37:27] his hands upon the king's [00:37:29] hands, he wasn't [00:37:30] endorsing everything [00:37:31] that this king was doing [00:37:32] in his wicked life. But [00:37:35] what he was saying is, [00:37:37] you know what? I'm going [00:37:39] to put my hands upon [00:37:41] you, which is a transfer [00:37:43] of the anointing of the [00:37:44] Holy Spirit. So you can [00:37:46] do what you need to do [00:37:48] for the people of [00:37:48] Israel. Now think about [00:37:49] that. God so loves his [00:37:51] people. He will use a [00:37:53] wicked king for his [00:37:55] purpose. He can put his [00:37:57] hand upon him. That's [00:37:58] why the scripture says [00:37:59] that the heart of the [00:38:00] Lord's in the hand of [00:38:01] the king and he turns it [00:38:03] wherever he wants to turn [00:38:04] it. Hmm. Did I say that [00:38:10] backwards? The heart of [00:38:11] the king's in the hand of [00:38:12] the Lord. I'm sorry. He [00:38:14] turns it wherever he [00:38:15] wants. So again, when I [00:38:19] say these things, I'm not [00:38:20] even endorsing Trump. I'm [00:38:22] just saying, I know the [00:38:23] Lord said, I put my hand [00:38:25] on him and it's going to [00:38:26] be better for you. Now [00:38:27] think about this because [00:38:29] this king had through [00:38:32] Elisha, the hand of God [00:38:33] and the anointing put [00:38:34] on him and gave him an [00:38:36] opportunity of being able [00:38:39] to defeat the Syrians, [00:38:41] which would protect all [00:38:42] the people of Israel, [00:38:43] right? That king didn't [00:38:46] have his intensity that [00:38:48] he needed and yes, praise [00:38:50] God, he got to win three [00:38:53] major battles. But what [00:38:55] did it mean that he [00:38:58] didn't do it five or six [00:38:59] times that he would not [00:39:00] completely destroy his [00:39:02] enemy, meaning that Israel [00:39:03] would face them again [00:39:06] in the future. And this [00:39:09] is another thing. This is [00:39:10] another picture of [00:39:12] deliverance. A lot of [00:39:14] people give up on [00:39:15] deliverance. You've got [00:39:16] strongholds in your life. [00:39:18] You've got all these [00:39:19] different things going [00:39:20] on. And a lot of people [00:39:22] maybe do a little bit [00:39:24] and never finish or get [00:39:27] lazy and tired or say I [00:39:28] don't want to deal with [00:39:29] it or I don't believe [00:39:30] it. And then what [00:39:34] happens is you might [00:39:34] have won a few battles [00:39:35] that you dealt with, but [00:39:38] you're going to face [00:39:38] them. They're going to [00:39:39] rise up in you again. [00:39:44] And if they rise up [00:39:45] again and you're being [00:39:46] lazy, you might lose [00:39:50] that battle. See, go [00:39:56] with me to Philippians [00:40:02] chapter three. I love [00:40:25] this in Philippians. [00:40:35] Let's just read from [00:40:36] verse one. Finally, my [00:40:38] brother and rejoice in [00:40:39] the Lord to write the [00:40:41] same things to you. To [00:40:42] me, indeed is not [00:40:44] grievous, but for you [00:40:45] it is safe. Beware of [00:40:46] dogs. Beware of evil [00:40:48] workers. Beware of the [00:40:49] concision. For we are [00:40:51] the circumcision which [00:40:52] worship God in the spirit [00:40:55] and rejoice in Christ [00:40:56] Jesus and have no [00:40:57] confidence in the flesh. [00:40:59] Though I might have [00:41:00] confidence in the flesh, [00:41:01] if any other man think [00:41:02] it that he hath, [00:41:03] wherever he might trust [00:41:04] in the flesh, I more [00:41:06] circumcise the eighth [00:41:07] day of the stock of [00:41:08] Israel, the tribe of [00:41:09] Benjamin, a Hebrew of [00:41:11] Hebrews is touching the [00:41:12] law of Pharisee [00:41:13] concern concerning zeal, [00:41:16] persecuting the church, [00:41:17] touching the righteousness [00:41:18] which is in the law [00:41:19] blameless, but what [00:41:21] things were gained to [00:41:22] me, those I counted [00:41:23] lost for Christ. [00:41:24] Yea, doubtless I count [00:41:25] all things, but lost for [00:41:27] the excellency of the [00:41:28] knowledge of Christ [00:41:29] Jesus, my Lord, for [00:41:31] whom I have suffered [00:41:32] the loss of all things [00:41:33] and do count them but [00:41:34] dung, that I may win [00:41:36] Christ and be found in [00:41:37] him, not having my own [00:41:39] righteousness, which is [00:41:40] of the law, but that [00:41:41] which is through the [00:41:42] faith of Christ, the [00:41:44] righteousness, which is [00:41:45] of God by faith, that I [00:41:48] may know him and the [00:41:50] power of his resurrection [00:41:51] and the fellowship of [00:41:52] his sufferings, being [00:41:54] made conformable unto [00:41:55] his death, if by any [00:41:56] means I might attain [00:41:57] unto the resurrection of [00:41:58] the dead, not as though I [00:42:00] had already attained, [00:42:01] either were already [00:42:02] perfect, but I follow [00:42:04] after, if that I may [00:42:05] apprehend that which I [00:42:07] am also apprehended of [00:42:08] Christ Jesus. [00:42:09] Brethren, I count not [00:42:10] myself to apprehended, [00:42:12] but this one thing I [00:42:13] do, forgetting those [00:42:14] things which are behind [00:42:16] and reaching forth [00:42:17] unto those things which [00:42:18] are before, I press toward [00:42:20] the mark for the prize [00:42:22] of the high calling of [00:42:23] God in Christ Jesus. [00:42:25] Let us therefore, as [00:42:26] many as be perfect, now [00:42:28] this word perfect means [00:42:29] mature, fully spiritually [00:42:31] mature. He says if you're [00:42:33] going to be mature, you [00:42:35] must be thus minded. What [00:42:37] minded? Pressing toward [00:42:39] the mark. Somebody say [00:42:42] pressing, pressing, [00:42:45] pressing, pressing, [00:42:47] pressing for the high [00:42:49] calling. What is the [00:42:50] high calling of God? The [00:42:53] high calling of God. I'm [00:42:54] gonna just put it this [00:42:55] way is the perfect will [00:42:57] of God for your life. [00:42:59] What he has called you [00:43:01] to do, the good works [00:43:04] he created you to do [00:43:06] before the foundation of [00:43:07] the world, what he [00:43:10] wanted you to be and [00:43:15] Paul would never back [00:43:16] up, you know, let's go [00:43:18] over to acts, go to [00:43:47] chapter 21. Paul was on [00:44:00] his journey toward [00:44:01] Jerusalem. Let's go to [00:44:05] verse eight. He says, [00:44:06] the next day we that [00:44:08] were of Paul's company [00:44:09] departed and came into [00:44:10] Caesarea and we entered [00:44:11] into the house of Philip [00:44:12] the evangelist, which was [00:44:14] one of the seven and [00:44:15] abode with him. And the [00:44:16] same man had four [00:44:17] daughters, virgins, which [00:44:19] did prophesy. And as we [00:44:21] carried there many days, [00:44:22] there came down from [00:44:24] Judea, a certain [00:44:25] prophet named Agabus. And [00:44:27] when he was come unto [00:44:28] us, he took Paul's [00:44:29] girdle and bound his own [00:44:31] hands and feet and said, [00:44:32] thus sayeth the Holy [00:44:33] Ghost, so shall the Jews [00:44:35] at Jerusalem bind the [00:44:37] man that owneth this [00:44:38] girdle and shall deliver [00:44:39] him into the hands of [00:44:40] the Gentiles. And when [00:44:42] we heard these things, [00:44:43] we both we and they of [00:44:45] that place besought him [00:44:47] not to go up to [00:44:48] Jerusalem. And then Paul [00:44:49] answered and said, what [00:44:50] mean ye to weep and to [00:44:51] break my heart? For I [00:44:52] am ready not to be [00:44:54] bound only, but also to [00:44:56] die at Jerusalem for the [00:44:57] name of the Lord Jesus. [00:44:59] And when he would not [00:45:00] be persuaded, we see [00:45:02] saying the will of the [00:45:04] Lord be done. Now I [00:45:06] want to stop right there. [00:45:09] And this is something [00:45:10] that I think that a lot [00:45:12] of us just don't get the [00:45:15] prophet. And it's very, [00:45:16] it's very important that [00:45:17] when we hear something [00:45:18] from the Lord that we [00:45:20] don't add to it or take [00:45:23] from it, did at any [00:45:26] point as Agabus prophesied [00:45:29] over Paul, did he tell [00:45:31] Paul, the Lord says, [00:45:32] don't go to Jerusalem. [00:45:35] No, he just told him [00:45:37] what's going to happen [00:45:38] when you go. All right. [00:45:43] So the disciples and the [00:45:45] people around them, all [00:45:46] of a sudden, oh, Paul, [00:45:49] you can't go to [00:45:50] Jerusalem. They're going [00:45:51] to arrest you. They [00:45:53] might kill you. And Paul [00:45:56] was like, don't y'all [00:45:58] get it? I know that is [00:46:02] the will of God for me [00:46:03] to go there. And even [00:46:08] if I am arrested and [00:46:09] even if I die, so be [00:46:12] it. I'm ready. You want [00:46:18] to talk about not losing [00:46:20] your intensity. If you [00:46:25] go there, they're going [00:46:26] to arrest you and you're [00:46:26] going to die. But I know [00:46:27] God wants me to go [00:46:28] there. So what do you [00:46:29] do? What if you knew the [00:46:34] Lord told you to do [00:46:35] something, but the thing [00:46:39] that you're going to do [00:46:39] may may get you killed? [00:46:42] What do you do? Well, [00:46:50] Pastor Dean, if I do [00:46:51] what the Lord's telling [00:46:52] me to do, I might lose [00:46:54] my job. Guess what? [00:46:57] You better do what the [00:46:57] Lord tells you to do, [00:46:58] because he'll have [00:46:59] another job for you. [00:47:02] This is what I mean [00:47:03] about trusting him. This [00:47:04] is what I mean about [00:47:05] not losing your [00:47:05] intensity. It's this [00:47:07] intensity to keep [00:47:09] pressing forward in Jesus [00:47:12] and his will for your [00:47:13] life, no matter what the [00:47:17] consequences. But what [00:47:23] about my family, Lord? [00:47:25] Let me tell you [00:47:25] something. Have you seen [00:47:26] what happens to families [00:47:27] that that they were the [00:47:29] husband and the parents [00:47:31] don't follow Jesus and [00:47:33] live a lukewarm lifestyle? [00:47:38] You got no guarantees of [00:47:39] trying to keep everything [00:47:40] safe and cushy for [00:47:44] everybody that it's going [00:47:47] to work. Satan has a way [00:47:51] of moving into a [00:47:52] household. You know, I've [00:48:00] shared this many times [00:48:01] when I was in Africa in [00:48:02] 2002 and teaching the [00:48:05] seminary students who [00:48:06] were getting ready to [00:48:06] graduate, graduate, and [00:48:08] I was going to be the [00:48:09] speaker at the big [00:48:10] graduation. And I [00:48:12] remember I taught them [00:48:13] for like the last month [00:48:15] before they graduated. And [00:48:18] I'll never forget, see, [00:48:20] and I mean, that school [00:48:22] pilgrims theological [00:48:24] seminary that's now [00:48:25] pilgrims University there, [00:48:26] of course, the founder [00:48:28] Bishop Comos Akbo that I [00:48:29] knew and then I went [00:48:30] there with he's passed [00:48:31] away now. And but they [00:48:34] had schools all over [00:48:36] planted churches all over [00:48:38] Nigeria. I mean, they [00:48:39] were doing it. The [00:48:40] government of Nigeria [00:48:41] hated them, put out [00:48:42] lies about them. They [00:48:45] were in a battle with [00:48:46] Muslim politicians. And I [00:48:50] mean, it was, it was, you [00:48:51] go there and the battle [00:48:52] is real. Okay. But if [00:48:56] you as a Christian go [00:48:58] into like the capital of [00:49:02] Buja and north of there, [00:49:04] that is Muslim country. [00:49:07] And for the Christians [00:49:09] who go there, most of [00:49:10] them are killed. When I [00:49:13] was there, several [00:49:14] thousand were killed, [00:49:15] churches were burned. Um, [00:49:18] anybody heard of Boko Haram? [00:49:21] Yeah, bad stuff. These [00:49:26] Muslims would go into [00:49:27] these churches in Nigeria [00:49:28] with machetes and hack [00:49:30] women and children to [00:49:31] pieces. Y'all haven't [00:49:33] yet. We have it easy [00:49:35] here in America. All [00:49:37] right. But some of these [00:49:39] students that I was [00:49:40] teaching would come and [00:49:42] talk to me after classes [00:49:44] in the mornings or at [00:49:45] lunch. And they would [00:49:47] tell me I know that I [00:49:49] am called to go to a [00:49:51] Buja that I am called to [00:49:54] go into the north of [00:49:55] Nigeria and preach the [00:49:57] gospel. And I know that [00:50:00] my life may be very [00:50:01] short. Do you think I [00:50:05] told any of them don't [00:50:06] go? What did I say to [00:50:11] them? You must do the [00:50:13] will of God, whatever [00:50:15] happens. Now that's some [00:50:18] intensity right there. [00:50:22] They knew where God was [00:50:24] leading them and it [00:50:26] might be their end. They [00:50:28] may even be captured for [00:50:31] a season. They may even [00:50:32] be tortured for a season. [00:50:41] And here in America, we [00:50:44] can't get Christians to [00:50:47] go next door and share [00:50:49] the gospel with their [00:50:51] neighbor. We're too [00:50:59] worried about what they [00:51:01] might say about us, what [00:51:04] it might cost us. And [00:51:10] this comes down to [00:51:11] everything you guys, you [00:51:14] choose, you will choose [00:51:16] to do things God's way or [00:51:18] you would choose to do [00:51:19] things your way or the [00:51:21] devil's way. Everything [00:51:24] from being a wife, you're [00:51:26] going to do it God's way [00:51:27] or you're going to do it [00:51:27] the devil's way. Be in a [00:51:28] husband, you'll do it [00:51:30] God's way, you're going [00:51:31] to do it the devil's [00:51:31] way. Children, you're [00:51:34] going to do it God's [00:51:35] way or you're going to [00:51:36] do it the devil's way. [00:51:41] Pastors. See, it's all [00:51:49] about the word of God. [00:51:50] When it comes down to [00:51:52] Judgment Day, you know [00:51:53] what we're going to be [00:51:53] judged by. It says the [00:51:56] books are going to be [00:51:57] open. Let me tell you [00:51:58] what books, first of all, [00:52:00] the 66 of them right [00:52:01] here, you will be judged [00:52:04] by this first, then you [00:52:09] will be judged. There's [00:52:10] a book of remembrance [00:52:11] written. You know what [00:52:12] the book of remembrance [00:52:13] is? It's mentioned in [00:52:13] Malachi chapter three. [00:52:15] That's about every word [00:52:16] you've spoken. Then [00:52:24] there's the book of [00:52:25] life. If you made it, [00:52:29] your name will be in [00:52:30] the Lamb's Book of [00:52:31] Life. Here's what's so [00:52:34] amazing is Jesus told [00:52:36] the churches there in [00:52:38] Revelation, he told one [00:52:39] of them, if you don't [00:52:41] stop the sin, if you [00:52:43] don't get your defiled [00:52:45] garments cleansed, your [00:52:47] name's going to be blotted [00:52:48] out of the Book of Life, [00:52:50] meaning erased, meaning [00:52:52] it was there, but it [00:52:54] got erased. Don't let it [00:52:59] get erased. That's what [00:53:03] the books are going to [00:53:04] be. They're going to be [00:53:05] opened and says we're [00:53:07] going to be judged [00:53:08] everyone out of those [00:53:09] books. According to what [00:53:14] we believed or according [00:53:17] to what we did, which [00:53:19] one does it say? Does [00:53:20] anybody know what we [00:53:23] did, how we lived our [00:53:25] lives. I knew when I [00:53:31] went to Nigeria, I knew [00:53:32] when I went to the [00:53:33] island of Mauritius, I [00:53:34] knew there was a [00:53:36] possibility that things [00:53:39] could go very wrong. Of [00:53:43] course, in Nigeria, I [00:53:46] think when I landed to [00:53:47] 747s were full and [00:53:50] emptied out and we were [00:53:51] all standing around to [00:53:53] get our luggage. And I [00:53:54] was the only white boy [00:53:55] standing there. I stood [00:53:58] out like, you know, [00:54:02] Christmas tree in the [00:54:03] darkness. And it was so [00:54:08] dangerous that Bishop [00:54:10] Komosokbo, who had been [00:54:11] in the Nigerian [00:54:12] military and fought in [00:54:13] the Nigerian Civil War [00:54:15] and who had been an [00:54:16] officer, had a couple [00:54:19] soldiers that he knew [00:54:22] with AK-47s to guard [00:54:24] me, one here and one [00:54:26] here to get me from the [00:54:27] airport across Legos to [00:54:30] another airport so that [00:54:33] we could fly to the [00:54:33] south where I would be [00:54:35] much safer. That's what [00:54:40] kind of situation I was [00:54:42] in. But I knew that going [00:54:44] in. You say, well, [00:54:47] Pastor Dean, now, what [00:54:48] if you, what if they [00:54:49] had killed you in Nigeria [00:54:50] in 2002? I was obeying [00:54:54] the Lord. 2006, they [00:54:58] got, probably got closer [00:55:00] to it, but he got me [00:55:02] out of there. And that's [00:55:04] the thing. I want to say [00:55:04] this. This is not doom [00:55:05] and gloom. The Lord can [00:55:07] deliver us in these [00:55:08] situations as he [00:55:10] delivered Paul. They [00:55:11] wanted to kill Paul when [00:55:12] he went to Jerusalem. They [00:55:13] arrested him. There was a [00:55:15] plot to kill him and God [00:55:18] moved in that situation. [00:55:19] And then, of course, [00:55:20] Paul appeals to Caesar, [00:55:22] which the Lord had told [00:55:23] him, you're going to [00:55:23] stand before Caesar. And [00:55:25] so they took him and [00:55:26] Paul ended up going on [00:55:28] a long voyage, getting to [00:55:30] Rome and witnessing to [00:55:32] Caesar under house [00:55:34] arrest, then led half of [00:55:35] Caesar's household to [00:55:36] Jesus while he's there [00:55:39] before they cut his head [00:55:41] off. But see, Paul said, [00:55:47] I know all these things, [00:55:48] all these things. The [00:55:49] Lord told me the things [00:55:50] I'm going to suffer for [00:55:51] him. But if Paul hadn't [00:55:55] obeyed and went to [00:55:56] Jerusalem and got [00:55:57] arrested and appealed to [00:55:59] Caesar and he would have [00:56:01] never led all those [00:56:02] people to Jesus. This is [00:56:06] why I love the Apostle [00:56:08] Paul so much. He [00:56:10] never lost his intensity [00:56:14] for following the Lord [00:56:16] and doing his will. Never. [00:56:19] He was like a laser [00:56:21] focused guy that just, [00:56:25] in fact, when he was the [00:56:27] what was it, the lawyer [00:56:28] to what was his name? [00:56:29] Tertullian or something [00:56:31] like that. I can't [00:56:32] remember his in here, [00:56:34] but it's called Paul, a [00:56:36] plague, a Christian [00:56:39] disease that everywhere [00:56:42] Paul went, he infected [00:56:44] people with Christianity [00:56:45] with the real thing. [00:56:48] But of course, he meant [00:56:49] it in a derogatory way [00:56:51] that he was a Christian plague. [00:56:56] Let me ask you something. [00:56:56] You infected anybody [00:56:57] with true Christianity [00:56:58] lately? Or are you in a [00:57:07] comfortable little spot [00:57:08] where nothing's [00:57:10] difficult and, you know, [00:57:14] you're not really [00:57:14] hearing from the Lord. [00:57:15] You just kind of you [00:57:17] got on cruise control [00:57:18] on the interstate, just [00:57:19] cruising, make sure it's [00:57:22] set not over the speed [00:57:23] limit at all. Right. [00:57:24] We're just going to cruise. [00:57:29] That might be good [00:57:30] for some folks, but that's [00:57:31] not what he wants us to do. [00:57:33] Amen. See, I'm going [00:57:40] to tell you something. [00:57:41] Nothing in me in 2020. [00:57:44] There was nothing in me [00:57:46] that wanted to run [00:57:47] for governor of Alabama. [00:57:52] Two years of my life [00:57:57] taking tolls on my family [00:58:02] because being exhausted. [00:58:08] But the Lord wanted me [00:58:10] to be a light and a witness [00:58:13] and a voice of truth [00:58:15] in that world to people [00:58:16] who would have never [00:58:18] turned on fire [00:58:20] and grace church service. [00:58:25] So a passion thing, [00:58:26] that was a lot of work [00:58:30] to lose. [00:58:31] I didn't lose anything. [00:58:34] I obey the Lord. [00:58:35] When you obey the Lord, [00:58:38] you don't lose. [00:58:39] The devil loses. [00:58:42] Amen. Whenever the Lord [00:58:49] sent me somewhere, [00:58:50] go to Texas, [00:58:53] go to Africa, go to Mauritius, [00:58:59] go to Israel, [00:59:05] stop your car and go talk [00:59:07] to that person right there. [00:59:08] I've had the Lord do that. [00:59:10] I've had the Lord say, [00:59:11] turn around, go back [00:59:12] to that house right there, [00:59:13] knock on the door [00:59:14] and talk to this man. [00:59:15] He's dying of cancer. [00:59:17] And sure enough, knock [00:59:18] on the door, [00:59:20] start talking to him. [00:59:21] He's dying of cancer [00:59:24] and said, the Lord sent me [00:59:25] to talk to you about Jesus [00:59:26] and that you need to get [00:59:27] your your life ready. [00:59:34] See, I'm not talking [00:59:34] about things that I haven't done. [00:59:37] Like I said, I've had the Lord [00:59:38] tell me to stand up [00:59:39] in the midst of [00:59:40] as that Auburn football game [00:59:41] one time, [00:59:43] well, right before the game, [00:59:44] actually, there's people everywhere. [00:59:47] The Lord says, stand up on that [00:59:49] bench right there [00:59:50] and preach the gospel. [00:59:53] But they'll think I'm crazy. [00:59:58] Look, you believe the virgin conceived [01:00:02] that God in the flesh [01:00:03] was born of a virgin, [01:00:06] that God was here and walked [01:00:07] and lived a sinless life [01:00:09] and did great miracles, [01:00:10] was crucified, dead and buried [01:00:12] and raised from the dead. [01:00:13] They already think you're crazy. [01:00:17] The scientific communities [01:00:19] of this world think you're crazy. [01:00:24] Oh, that's why they think [01:00:25] we're dangerous. [01:00:26] They should take our kids away [01:00:28] because we should [01:00:28] should the world shouldn't allow [01:00:30] our children to be indoctrinated [01:00:31] by these crazy Christians. [01:00:43] It's quiet in here, man. [01:00:44] It's it's more quiet [01:00:45] and Episcopalian church service. [01:00:51] So quiet is like the [01:00:54] the frozen chosen, right? [01:00:57] I'm just going to believe [01:00:58] you all are reflecting, pondering. [01:01:09] Don't be lukewarm. [01:01:11] We've got a job to do. [01:01:16] And like I've said before, [01:01:18] there are things at times [01:01:19] you're not going to want to do [01:01:22] that the Lord is going to have you do. [01:01:25] That's what makes us powerful. [01:01:27] That's what makes [01:01:30] the devil just shudder. [01:01:32] A Christian who is living for Jesus, [01:01:36] living a holy life, [01:01:40] seeking after God [01:01:41] and nothing will deter them. [01:01:46] But but but what? [01:01:49] Psalm 91 thousand fall at my side, [01:01:51] 10,000 at my right hand. [01:01:57] I'm going to keep going. [01:02:01] See, we're about to see [01:02:02] some scary things in the world. [01:02:07] We got drones. [01:02:08] We got UFOs. [01:02:09] We got war with China. [01:02:13] It's a war with China is coming, [01:02:15] you know, war with China is coming. [01:02:20] Matter of fact, [01:02:21] our government is predicting it [01:02:24] by 2027. [01:02:25] They say we will be [01:02:26] the United States [01:02:26] will be over China by then. [01:02:35] Somebody is going to set off [01:02:37] a nuke somewhere. [01:02:42] Y'all think that the [01:02:44] the deep state, the Illuminati, [01:02:46] satanic, Luciferian [01:02:48] worshippers are through. [01:02:51] We're going to enter a golden age. [01:02:52] I'm sorry, but they're [01:02:53] wrong about that. [01:02:58] We're not entering a golden age [01:03:00] until Jesus comes. [01:03:01] It's called his millennial reign [01:03:07] and Satan will be bound [01:03:11] and there'll be no war [01:03:16] and he'll heal the nations. [01:03:21] So I want to be in that kingdom. [01:03:22] Don't you? [01:03:27] Let me show you something. [01:03:28] Go to Luke 16 [01:03:29] and we'll finish with this. [01:03:44] Luke 16 verse 16. [01:03:47] That ought to be easy to remember, huh? [01:03:51] Here's what it says. [01:03:52] The law and the prophets [01:03:54] were until John. [01:03:56] Since that time, [01:03:57] the kingdom of God is preached [01:04:00] and every man presseth into it. [01:04:04] Press. [01:04:07] Do you see that? [01:04:09] So the kingdom of God is preached, [01:04:11] but you must press into it. [01:04:16] Let me show you how this was [01:04:17] worded in Matthew. [01:04:18] Go to Matthew 11. [01:04:35] Matthew 11 verse 12. [01:04:42] He says him from the days [01:04:43] of John the Baptist until now, [01:04:46] the kingdom of heaven [01:04:47] suffer with violence [01:04:48] and the violent take it by force. [01:04:55] In spiritual warfare, [01:04:58] you are to be violent. [01:05:01] You hear me? [01:05:03] You are to fight. [01:05:04] You are to press. [01:05:07] You are to be intense. [01:05:12] You are to be a soldier [01:05:14] moving forward, unafraid, [01:05:17] as they say, rushing into the battle, [01:05:19] not taking a seat, [01:05:24] not taking a vacation. [01:05:27] I love when preachers tell me they retired. [01:05:29] You don't retire from this. [01:05:36] The only time I'm going to retire [01:05:38] is if I can't even get up to walk there [01:05:40] and I still be preaching. [01:05:42] They'll have to retire me [01:05:44] if you know what I'm saying. [01:05:47] Or Jesus will come. [01:05:48] That's the only way I'm getting retired. [01:05:51] How do you retire from being called [01:05:53] to preach the gospel? [01:05:57] To teach the word, you don't retire. [01:06:01] Oh, help us, Jesus. [01:06:05] I do want to go to one more. [01:06:07] You all right? [01:06:10] It's early, still. [01:06:13] Second Timothy, chapter two. [01:06:22] I remember when I read this long time ago [01:06:24] when I was a young man, [01:06:25] the Lord really made this leap off the page at me. [01:06:32] Here's what he says, verse one. [01:06:35] Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace [01:06:38] that is in Christ Jesus. [01:06:40] Now the grace means the power of the Holy Spirit [01:06:42] to do the will of God doesn't mean a license to sin. [01:06:46] He said, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus [01:06:49] and the things that thou has heard of me [01:06:51] among many witnesses, [01:06:52] the same commit thou to faithful men [01:06:55] who shall be able to teach others also. [01:06:57] So he's telling him, [01:06:58] he's not telling him sit down, [01:07:00] take a vacation, retire. [01:07:02] He's telling him to teach and prepare [01:07:04] and train other men that can do this. [01:07:07] And then he says, you thou therefore endure hardness [01:07:13] as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. [01:07:16] No man that warth entangles himself [01:07:18] with the affairs of this life [01:07:19] that he may please him [01:07:21] who have chosen him to be a soldier. [01:07:25] God's chosen us to be soldiers for him. [01:07:29] And he's chosen us to endure [01:07:31] and he's told us to endure hardness. [01:07:35] What is that? [01:07:36] Difficulties, trials, tests, temptations, [01:07:41] attacks, loss, endure it. [01:07:45] That means don't cave in, [01:07:48] don't break down, don't give up, [01:07:51] don't move backwards. [01:07:54] Can somebody say amen? [01:08:01] Come on y'all, even Baptist say amen [01:08:02] out loud in church now. [01:08:10] Endure hardness. [01:08:14] If you find yourself like, [01:08:16] oh God, it's just too hard. [01:08:19] You expect the Lord to come over there [01:08:21] and go, it's okay, it's okay little puppy. [01:08:27] You know what he's gonna say? [01:08:29] Get up, move forward, endure hardness. [01:08:34] You're in a battle. [01:08:35] Quit being a little wimpy person, right? [01:08:42] Say, well, what do I do? [01:08:43] What do I do? [01:08:44] Well, you gotta cast down imaginations [01:08:46] in every thought that rises itself [01:08:48] up against the knowledge of God. [01:08:50] You gotta get control of your mind. [01:08:54] Say, well, I have a problem with that. [01:08:55] Well, let me ask you something. [01:08:56] How much crap are you feeding your mind [01:08:59] from the world? [01:09:00] You're gonna have a real hard time [01:09:01] if you don't shut off some stuff. [01:09:06] You gotta bind demons and resist them [01:09:08] in the name of Jesus Christ. [01:09:10] And I bind the demons attacking my mind. [01:09:13] Depression, lust, suicide, whatever it may be. [01:09:16] I bind those demons and I command them to go for me. [01:09:19] I resist the devil. [01:09:20] I cast down these imaginations and thoughts and images [01:09:24] these devils are giving me. [01:09:26] I fight this off in Jesus name. [01:09:28] I resist the devil and he will flee from me. [01:09:31] But remember, even when Jesus resisted the devil [01:09:33] the first time, the devil still hung out. [01:09:35] So sometimes it takes more than one situation. [01:09:38] Maybe you need to quote some scripture [01:09:39] and get the scripture in your mind [01:09:42] instead of what you've been meditating on from the world. [01:09:49] The number one area of this battle [01:09:51] is gonna be right here. [01:09:54] The spiritual mind versus the carnal mind. [01:09:59] And the carnal mind, what is the carnal mind? [01:10:02] There's voices. [01:10:03] And listen, they're gonna say, oh, they're crazy. [01:10:05] Now they're talking about voices. [01:10:06] Oh, there's voices. [01:10:09] Let me tell you what voice, your flesh, [01:10:12] your fleshly nature wants to do things bad [01:10:16] and he will be talking to you. [01:10:18] And the devil of course incites the flesh [01:10:20] and he talks through it. [01:10:22] Your spirit man will be saying, uh-uh, [01:10:25] you know better than that. [01:10:27] The Holy Spirit will be saying, you know better than that. [01:10:34] And then you're gonna have a choice to make. [01:10:37] Which way do I go? [01:10:42] And the devil would just love, [01:10:43] let me tell you the most deceived people in the world. [01:10:48] We think it's the unsaved people. [01:10:49] Nope, nope. [01:10:55] Remember Jesus said to the church, [01:10:56] Laodicea, be hot or be cold. [01:11:03] But if you're lukewarm. [01:11:05] And then he told them, he said, [01:11:07] the lukewarm people didn't know [01:11:10] that they were cold, that they were blind, [01:11:12] naked, poor, miserable. [01:11:15] They didn't know it. [01:11:16] They thought, oh, I'm a Christian. [01:11:18] I go to church. [01:11:19] This Laodicea in church, I'm good. [01:11:23] But they were lukewarm. [01:11:25] And if you look up what the word hot in the Greek [01:11:28] when he says bezellus therefore repent. [01:11:30] Bezellus means what? [01:11:33] Bezios is the word in Greek. [01:11:35] It means to be fervent like boiling water. [01:11:38] It means that you are intense. [01:11:41] It means that you are fighting and moving forward [01:11:45] and growing and you're not backing up [01:11:48] and you're not giving up. [01:11:51] See, the problem is the most deceived people in the world [01:11:53] are lukewarm Christians [01:11:56] because they have enough to think that they're okay, [01:11:59] but not enough to get all the way in. [01:12:04] And they were in the Lord's body for a time. [01:12:06] And he says, if you're lukewarm, [01:12:08] I'm gonna spit you or spew you, [01:12:10] vomit you out of my body. [01:12:14] He's being very clear. [01:12:15] There will come a point [01:12:16] where the lukewarm Christian [01:12:18] will no longer be comfortable [01:12:20] because the Lord is going to move them out of his body [01:12:24] and say, that's it. [01:12:26] That's when it's gonna be very uncomfortable [01:12:28] to hear the words depart from me. [01:12:32] Oh, hey, angels, come take this one right here, [01:12:35] who was my servant and cast them in an outer darkness [01:12:38] that should be weeping and gnashing of teeth. [01:12:41] This one right here that came to the wedding feast [01:12:44] without his garments, his robes of righteousness, [01:12:48] you'll take him and get him out of here. [01:12:53] Say, then there's gonna be uncomfortableness for eternity. [01:12:59] And there, but see, this is the good news. [01:13:00] There is a rest for us, y'all. [01:13:05] The rest is when we get to sit down in the kingdom [01:13:07] with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. [01:13:12] We're with Jesus and that will get to go on forever. [01:13:23] Leonard Ravenhill used to say that this life [01:13:27] is just a dressing room for eternity. [01:13:31] So what are you getting dressed with? [01:13:33] What does the Bible say? [01:13:35] Put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ. [01:13:39] You'll either put on Jesus and live for him [01:13:43] or you're gonna put on the world [01:13:45] and act like you're a Christian. [01:13:49] You got it? [01:13:49] Let's stand. [01:13:54] I wanna do that song we did again at the end there, [01:13:57] the last song. [01:14:00] I think it says it all. [01:14:05] You say, well, Pastor Dean, I think I've been lukewarm. [01:14:10] I think I've fallen into some lukewarmness, [01:14:13] some worldiness, some sin. [01:14:15] Well, guess what? [01:14:16] What'd Jesus say to do? [01:14:18] He told the Laodicean church, the lukewarm Christians, [01:14:21] he said, be zealous and repent. [01:14:26] Somebody say zealous means intense. [01:14:33] We're gonna call this one, keep your intensity. [01:14:37] Don't lose it. [01:14:39] That's why a lot of people say it used to be scared. [01:14:40] They scared of me because somebody said, [01:14:42] well, your bald head, it scares me. [01:14:44] I had someone, one little Baptist girl, [01:14:46] she'd hear me appreciate, he's scary. [01:14:49] His bald head scares me. [01:14:50] Yeah, it wasn't what was scaring her. [01:14:53] She's hearing, and some people say, [01:14:55] oh, he's just too mean, he's too intense. [01:14:59] And then they get around me and they find out, [01:15:01] oh, no, he's just, he's a normal person. [01:15:05] He said, why is he so intense when he preaches? [01:15:08] Because I take it seriously. [01:15:13] I know that every sermon could be the last one you hear. [01:15:20] And y'all don't realize, these messages reach people [01:15:25] and just, I never cease to be amazed [01:15:28] at how many new people are listening for whatever reason. [01:15:36] And the truth, let me tell you, I can say this. [01:15:40] The truth is getting through to people. [01:15:44] People are being reached. [01:15:48] And that's what it's all about. [01:15:49] And I wanna thank you guys that do come [01:15:53] to Fire and Grace Church here and those that watch [01:15:55] and you guys that support the church and help us do this. [01:16:00] I mean, really, it's all you guys. [01:16:04] Like I told some people, said it's, [01:16:06] whatever fruit comes from here is your fruit too. [01:16:09] Amen. [01:16:12] Let's pray and we'll do this song, forwardly. [01:16:14] Father, thank you for your word and help us, Lord. [01:16:18] Help us stay hot on fire for you, Lord. [01:16:23] Intense, pressing toward the mark. [01:16:26] Enduring hardness as a good soldier [01:16:28] and staying in the fight and not letting our flesh [01:16:33] or our carnal mind or the devil's lies [01:16:35] and temptations and tricks take us down [01:16:38] into a lukewarm Christianity, Lord. [01:16:41] I want no part of that. [01:16:43] Let us hear your voice and be led by the Holy Spirit [01:16:46] and let us know what you've called us to do. [01:16:49] Fill us with the knowledge of your will [01:16:50] so we may know what you've called us to do [01:16:53] so that we may do it and have impact [01:16:56] and push the devil's darkness back off of people [01:17:00] and break his chains off of people. [01:17:03] Well, I pray, Lord, for the arrow of your deliverance [01:17:05] to go forth from this church even greater than it has, [01:17:08] Lord, I pray, Lord, as we come to you, Lord, [01:17:12] we will take these arrows and smite them five, six, [01:17:16] seven, eight, nine, 10 times. [01:17:17] We're gonna keep smiting them on the ground [01:17:20] because we are determined to be part of the church [01:17:23] that endures to the end. [01:17:25] The church where the gates of hell [01:17:27] will not prevail against it. [01:17:28] Lord Jesus, we want you to keep building this church [01:17:31] and this mission to be what you want it to be, [01:17:33] to say what you want it to say, [01:17:36] to stand for the truth that you want put forth, God. [01:17:41] Lord, I pray in Jesus' name that you will help us. [01:17:44] Lord, so many ministries are falling. [01:17:47] There's so many scandals and sexual sin [01:17:50] and skeletons in closets that are coming forward. [01:17:53] Lord, help us stay out of all of that and be an example. [01:18:00] Help us be an example of true believers. [01:18:05] And if they come for us, Lord, we will not run and hide. [01:18:14] Bless your people with boldness, with intensity, with fire, [01:18:18] with power from the Holy Spirit. [01:18:21] Help them make up their minds [01:18:23] that there are gonna be soldiers and warriors for you [01:18:26] and they're going to press in and hear your voice [01:18:30] and do what you've called them to do [01:18:32] and live according to your holy word. [01:18:36] I pray this in Jesus' name, amen. [01:18:40] Let's worship him for me. [01:27:22] God, help us keep our intensity [01:27:24] to press in to your kingdom, to be like John, [01:27:29] the one that wanted to press in [01:27:30] and lay his head on your chest and stay right next to you. [01:27:33] Lord, we wanna be like John. [01:27:40] We want you and not this world system, [01:27:42] not the things of the world or the lust of the world [01:27:45] or the wealth of the world. [01:27:46] We want you and we wanna do your will. [01:27:49] We wanna draw near to you, we wanna please you. [01:27:53] I wanna be a light for you, Lord. [01:27:57] We understand that that's gonna be in conflict [01:28:01] with this world system and almost everybody around us [01:28:06] that's in darkness. [01:28:09] So Lord, we just pray for your grace. [01:28:11] We pray for your anointing and power. [01:28:14] We pray you forgive us for our laziness, [01:28:16] slothfulness, lukewarmness. [01:28:19] Forgive us for getting distracted with worldly things. [01:28:22] Wash our sins away and help us, Lord, be on fire for you. [01:28:28] We pray this in Jesus' name, amen, amen. [01:28:32] All right, we all know the drill there. [01:28:35] I wonder if I'm hearing a little, okay. [01:28:38] I don't know what that is either. [01:28:40] Thought you were starting a song for a second. [01:28:42] Like, okay, huh? [01:28:45] Anyway, we're gonna say bye. [01:28:46] Y'all know the drill out there. [01:28:47] Hugs the necks before you leave. [01:28:49] If you have a testimony, share it with us. [01:28:52] Send your testimony in. [01:28:54] Oh, just on a side note, [01:28:59] people have been asking, there's a few people have been asking. [01:29:01] I will be addressing the issue of the final experiment, [01:29:05] as they call it in Antarctica. [01:29:07] I will be addressing that in the weeks ahead. [01:29:10] I don't know exactly when, [01:29:11] but I've just been waiting to see what happens, [01:29:14] but we will discuss it. [01:29:16] So I don't want anybody to think I'm ignoring that. [01:29:19] I'm just was waiting for that whole thing to be over with, [01:29:24] and it's not quite, so we'll, [01:29:27] but I will be addressing it from the Bible. [01:29:29] But let me just say this before we go. [01:29:32] I believe the Bible. [01:29:36] Not anything that happens with the luminaries, [01:29:40] I believe this. [01:29:42] Amen? [01:29:43] And we're gonna talk about that. [01:29:45] All right, hugs the necks before you leave. [01:29:49] God bless. [01:29:52] Go ahead.
