[00:01:02] Open doorways to demons and how to get rid of them, and also God willing in this series [00:02:05] will deal with accursed objects that you bring into your possession and the effect that they [00:02:10] can have on you even if you're a Christian. [00:02:12] So this morning we're going to talk about, this is part two, demons and deliverance two, [00:02:19] that's in Christians. [00:02:21] So everybody if you want to take out your Bible, I'm going to review just a little bit from [00:02:28] last week because I want to establish that I did cover a little bit of this issue, can [00:02:34] a Christian have a demon last week? [00:02:38] We're on slide two now. [00:02:41] I don't know where, there we go, but anyway, this is Ephesians 4.27 and of course as I stated [00:02:48] last week, Ephesians chapter 1 verse 1 says the book of Ephesians written by the Apostle [00:02:54] Paul by inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the book of Ephesians was given to the saints [00:03:00] and to the faithful in Christ Jesus, that's who he was writing to. [00:03:04] So Paul makes it clear in Ephesians 1 that he's writing to board again Christians to the [00:03:09] church of Ephesus. [00:03:10] And then in chapter 4 verse 27 he makes this statement, he says neither give place to the [00:03:16] devil, that means don't give any place to the devil. [00:03:20] So again, if a Christian could not give place to demons in their lives, why would the Apostle [00:03:28] Paul warn Christians to not give place? [00:03:32] And the word place here is topos, which we get our word topography from, which means [00:03:37] space, space on the map, well the map we're talking about here, the ground we're [00:03:44] talking about is spirit, soul, or body of the human being. [00:03:47] If you give place to the devil, he will take it every time. [00:03:53] Of course Peter warned, 1 Peter 5.8 be sober, be vigilant because you're adversary the devil [00:03:58] as a roaring lion walketh about seeking whom he may devour. [00:04:03] So we're in a war, in Ecclesiastes, I shared this passage last week, this makes it very [00:04:11] clear that anyone can break the hedge. [00:04:19] Ecclesiastes 10.8 and it says this, he that diggeth a pit shall fall into it, and whoso [00:04:27] or whosoever breaketh a hedge a serpent shall bite in. [00:04:32] Now this is an important passage here because we know that Jesus revealed in Luke chapter [00:04:37] 10, he referred to demons as serpents and scorpions, that's a symbol for them or two [00:04:44] different symbols, serpents and scorpions. [00:04:46] So this Old Testament passage here from Solomon is giving us a picture here that whosoever [00:04:53] breaks the hedge a serpent will bite him. [00:04:56] Now a serpent, if it bites you, it latches onto you, it's things going in you, and [00:05:03] it leaves some poison inside of you to try to harm you or kill you. [00:05:07] This is how Satan and the demons work, they wait for you to break the hedge and [00:05:12] breaking the hedge can be done by ignorance, it can be done by will from sin, we're going [00:05:17] to get into all those doorways next week in detail, I can't do it all today. [00:05:23] But I just want you to see it says whosoever, and as I said last week, if a Christian can [00:05:27] sin, then a Christian can break the hedge, open the door for a demon to latch hold of [00:05:33] him and bring harm and been bitten by a water moccasin so I know how it works. [00:05:42] Alright now let's keep going. [00:05:45] This is a very important passage today that I want you to get ahold of. [00:05:50] This is 1 Corinthians chapter 10, I don't want you having fellowship with devils, fellowship [00:07:07] with demons. [00:07:08] Now the word in the Greek for fellowship here is koinonia, and it's the same word used [00:07:15] when we talk about having fellowship with the Holy Spirit. [00:07:19] It's an intimacy, it's a closeness, it's a spiritual thing, not just a physical thing. [00:07:28] So I want you to just see that Paul wrote this, now think about this, he wrote this [00:07:33] to the Corinthian church. [00:07:34] This was 2 Christians, this was not 2 unbelievers, he said look the unbelievers they do all [00:07:40] this stuff, but I'm telling you don't have fellowship, intimacy, spiritual interaction [00:07:48] with demons. [00:07:49] So that means folks for Christians it is possible. [00:07:53] If you want to go into idolatry, if you want to play with idolatry, if you want to play [00:07:58] with sin, you open the door to have fellowship with demons and they can come in, and I'm [00:08:03] going to say this and I can prove this by scripture, they can come into your spirit, [00:08:07] your soul, or your body, doesn't mean again that you're totally demon possessed or totally [00:08:13] controlled, but they can come in and get a foothold or a stronghold in you and cause [00:08:18] great problems. [00:08:19] Now we're going to look back, look at Matthew chapter 8, 16, and 17 here. [00:08:25] I covered this last week, but I wanted you to see it again. [00:08:30] This is right after Jesus healed, rebuked the fever of Peter's mother-in-law, and [00:08:35] she was healed, and he was at Peter's house that evening, it says, and when the [00:08:40] even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils, and he cast [00:08:45] out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick, that it might be fulfilled, [00:08:50] which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying himself took our infirmities and [00:08:55] bear our sicknesses. [00:08:57] Now I want to say this about this passage before I go any further, that what's [00:09:01] interesting about this is it talks about Jesus, Isaiah 53, and Jesus bearing our [00:09:06] infirmities and our sicknesses. [00:09:09] Isaiah 53 also talks about, in verse 5, he was wounded for our transgression. [00:09:13] He was bruised for our iniquities. [00:09:15] The chastisement of our peace was upon him, and by his stripes we are healed. [00:09:19] This is the same passage that talks about how Jesus paid for sin, for our sins. [00:09:24] He paid for salvation, but it goes on to talk about how he paid for healing, and [00:09:30] then it applies to this right here, where it says how he paid for deliverance from [00:09:35] demons. [00:09:36] The blood of Jesus has paid for these things, but listen to me, Christian, [00:09:40] very closely this morning. [00:09:43] Everything that Jesus bought and paid for doesn't come to you automatically. [00:09:49] Everything must be received by faith, meaning you have to do some. [00:09:56] For instance, to get saved, Jesus died for everyone. [00:09:58] The Bible tells us this. [00:09:59] First John, that Jesus took on himself the sins of all mankind. [00:10:03] Jesus died for all, once for all. [00:10:06] But does that mean all will be saved? [00:10:08] No, it does not mean all will be saved. [00:10:11] Only those who believe, exercise faith, and then confess with their mouth the Lord [00:10:16] Jesus, believe in their heart that God has raised him from the dead, and [00:10:19] they're willing to repent of their sins, put actions with what they say they [00:10:22] believe. [00:10:23] Only those people are given the power to become the sons and daughters of God. [00:10:28] Only those people get what Jesus paid for, and [00:10:31] that is the forgiveness of sins, and the hope of eternal life in heaven. [00:10:37] Right, faith must be exercised. [00:10:39] Well, the same goes for healing or deliverance from demons. [00:10:43] It's not automatic. [00:10:44] It's not I get saved and I get everything, and I don't have to do [00:10:49] anything, or speak anything, or act upon anything. [00:10:52] As the book of James says in James 2, he says it several times. [00:10:56] Faith without works is dead being alone. [00:11:01] Faith has corresponding actions. [00:11:03] Faith will always say something or do something. [00:11:07] It believes it, says it, and then acts upon it. [00:11:11] That's faith. [00:11:12] So I want you to get that down in you. [00:11:14] If you don't speak and repent, you don't receive salvation. [00:11:20] If you don't speak and believe, you won't receive healing or delivery. [00:11:25] If you don't resist the devil, he will not flee from you. [00:11:27] If you don't bind him and cast him out, he's not going anywhere, even though Jesus paid [00:11:33] for it. [00:11:34] Now, last week we defined the words possession. [00:11:38] This is, next one here is the Greek word for possession or possessed with devils. [00:11:45] It's Dahimonizomihi, try to say that three times fast. [00:11:51] It says to be exercised by a demon, have a demon, be vexed with a demon, basically to [00:11:57] be controlled by a demon. [00:11:59] As I said last week, the next word from Acts 10, to be oppressed of the devil, it's really [00:12:06] the same word. [00:12:07] Everybody gets all this bent out of shape. [00:12:09] Well, Christians can be oppressed, but they can't be possessed. [00:12:14] I'm sick of these games we play. [00:12:17] The word oppression here from Acts 10, 38, again, says to exercise harsh control over. [00:12:24] So I don't know which one sounds worse, possession or oppression. [00:12:30] Either way, the devil has got a foothold in your life, whether you call it possession [00:12:35] or oppression. [00:12:38] Like I said last week, annihilation or destruction, whichever one you want to pick, two different [00:12:42] words mean the same thing. [00:12:44] Same thing with possession. [00:12:45] It just means to be vexed, to be afflicted, to be pushed, to be controlled. [00:12:50] And that the devil has a legal right, because you've given him a doorway, an opening, you've [00:12:54] given legal right for Satan to do this, or a Christian does. [00:13:01] Last week I shared with you that there are degrees of possessions or strongholds in people. [00:13:07] We went through the scriptures, of course, the three passages, a daughter of Abraham [00:13:11] had one demon in Luke 13, and again notice it says daughter of Abraham, meaning she was [00:13:16] a blood covenant child of God. [00:13:19] She had one demon, and Jesus cast that demon out of her and she was healed. [00:13:24] Mary Magdalene in Luke 8 had seven demons. [00:13:28] And then we see the Gadarene demoniac in Mark 5 had a legion of demons, which means [00:13:33] anywhere from 2,000 to 6,000 demons, and I've run across each one of these different [00:13:38] degrees of demon possession, oppression, strongholds in people, however you want to say it. [00:13:45] And I want to tell you, you cast them out the same way. [00:13:49] Whether it's one demon, seven demons, or legions of demons, you bind them in Jesus' name, [00:13:54] you break their power, you pull down their strongholds, and you command them to come [00:13:58] out of the person, to leave them in the name of Jesus Christ. [00:14:04] Here it's important to understand this, and this is a verse we're going to come back [00:14:08] later, or passage rather, Matthew 12, 43 through 45. [00:14:14] Jesus says this, when the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, that means somebody cast [00:14:19] it out, demons don't just leave, they have to be cast out through the power and [00:14:23] authority of the name of Jesus Christ, there is no other way. [00:14:27] When the unclean spirit has gone out of a man, he walked it through dry places, [00:14:31] seeking rest, and findeth none. [00:14:33] It's interesting, as I'm going to show you in a minute, the book of Enoch said [00:14:36] the same thing. [00:14:38] It says, then he saith, I will return into my house, from whence I came out, and [00:14:43] when he has come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. [00:14:47] Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than [00:14:50] himself, and they enter in and dwell there, and the last state of that man is [00:14:54] worse than the first. [00:14:55] Now what makes this, the two things I want you to get from this passage are [00:14:59] simple. [00:14:59] The demons consider a human being a house, or a temple. [00:15:06] A structure has many rooms, and also we discover that a person can go through [00:15:12] deliverance, have the demons cast out of them. [00:15:16] But if their house is empty, they don't have Jesus, the Holy Spirit. [00:15:21] They don't have the house full of the Holy Ghost, full of the Lord Jesus [00:15:25] Christ. [00:15:27] If they don't have the house full, then they will not be able to stay free. [00:15:32] In fact, they're going to be worse, which is one of the reasons why you are not [00:15:36] supposed to cast demons out of unsaved people. [00:15:41] I mean, the church world has it completely opposite. [00:15:43] They think we only cast demons out of the unsaved, and it's only the unsaved [00:15:46] that have demons, when the other way around is, no, the only people who are [00:15:50] candidates for deliverance are people who are born again following Jesus, [00:15:56] truly repented of sin, don't want to live in sin, don't want to keep opening [00:15:59] the door, giving the devil place. [00:16:01] That's the person that we can cast demons out of, and the demons go, and then [00:16:06] the house has Jesus and the Holy Ghost in there. [00:16:08] Now, I am going to address the big argument that's always around, what [00:16:13] about light and darkness? [00:16:14] Do I look in the same place at the same time? [00:16:16] I'm so sick of hearing that. [00:16:17] I've heard it for 30 years, and it's so easy to deal with. [00:16:22] But I want you to see, as we shared, I illustrated this last week. [00:16:27] Some people love my little structure I built. [00:16:31] I'm no architect, but it works. [00:16:34] I did this in PowerPoint years ago. [00:16:36] But there's your one demon in one room. [00:16:38] You've got spirit, soul, and body. [00:16:40] There's your seven demons. [00:16:41] There's Mary Magdalene. [00:16:42] She had a few more. [00:16:45] And there's your gathering demoniac. [00:16:48] So you see there's degrees of this stuff. [00:16:50] Just because I start talking about a Christian needing deliverance, I don't [00:16:53] mean that you're Linda Blair, and you're going to float off the ground [00:16:56] and head spin around and vomit pea soup and kill a priest. [00:17:02] No, none of that. [00:17:04] All right? [00:17:05] When we get to that point, we talked about last week the two cleanseings. [00:17:10] Again, for Christians. [00:17:12] And how the illustration from the Old Testament, from the Tabernacle of Moses, [00:17:16] how when the priest came into the outer court, the first place they had to go to [00:17:20] was the brazen altar where the blood sacrifice was given. [00:17:23] So there's the cleansing of the blood. [00:17:25] Then they had to go to the brazen lava that had the water in it and wash [00:17:29] before they could go into the holy place. [00:17:31] And of course, the high priest had to do this before he could go into the most holy [00:17:35] place in the back. [00:17:36] So there's two cleanseings. [00:17:38] What are they? [00:17:39] Well, in the New Testament reality, that's an Old Testament type and shadow. [00:17:44] In New Testament reality, 1 John 7 through 9 says, if we walk in the light, [00:17:50] as he is in the light, we have fellowship well and other than the blood [00:17:53] of Jesus Christ, his son cleanses us from all sin. [00:17:55] If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. [00:18:00] If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and [00:18:04] it cleanses us from all unrighteousness. [00:18:07] So the first cleansing is confession of sin, repentance and the blood of Jesus. [00:18:13] Then he said though, there's a second cleansing, two Christians. [00:18:17] And again, speaking to the Corinthians, and how many, you want to know why [00:18:20] the Corinthians had so many issues and Paul had to address these things? [00:18:24] Because the Church of Corinth had to deal with in their city, [00:18:29] on top of a hill, there was this huge temple to Aphrodite. [00:18:35] And it is said that there were some 1,000 temple prostitutes. [00:18:40] And this was a naval town. [00:18:42] So all the drunken sailors would come in town and to go and worship Apollo or [00:18:51] Aphrodite or Venus, they had all their different names for this goddess of lust. [00:18:57] But they would go up to the temple and they would pay to have sex with one of [00:19:01] the priestesses of the religion. [00:19:04] And that was them communing with the god of the temple. [00:19:08] But they had so many others. [00:19:10] So this place was full of idolatry, immorality, sacrificing to demons, [00:19:18] sacrificing and offering food to demons. [00:19:22] And Paul had to tell the Corinthians who were still having a problem with [00:19:25] fordication, drunkenness, immorality, and we're talking about Christians now. [00:19:31] Paul tells them, and this is his second letter to them. [00:19:35] He says, having therefore these promises dearly beloved, let us cleanse [00:19:41] ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness [00:19:47] in the fear of God. [00:19:48] So what's he talking about? [00:19:51] Spiritual uncleanness. [00:19:52] What did Jesus call demons? [00:19:53] What are the names? [00:19:55] Unclean demons. [00:19:57] So Paul was telling these Corinthian Christians, yes, it's one thing to have [00:20:03] your sins forgiven. [00:20:04] It's another thing to cleanse yourself from unclean spirits. [00:20:07] There's two cleanings you have to do before you're fit to really serve [00:20:12] the Lord in his tabernacle. [00:20:16] Now as we get into this this morning, there's three things that I want [00:20:19] you to understand. [00:20:21] And please, please, I want to go through these kind of slow because [00:20:24] these are so very important. [00:20:26] All right, there's three things as we study this this morning, as I [00:20:29] break this down, we're going to be in the Old Testament and the New [00:20:31] Testament. [00:20:33] It's important that you understand, number one, that the things that [00:20:36] happened under them in the Old Testament are examples unto us in the [00:20:41] New Covenant. [00:20:42] All right, just remember that we're going to read the passage in just [00:20:45] a second from 1 Corinthians 10. [00:20:47] The second thing you need to understand that many things that [00:20:51] actually happen, real events in the Old Testament are types, shadows [00:20:56] and allegories of New Testament truth, i.e. like the first Passover. [00:21:02] The third thing I want you to realize and understand is that the [00:21:05] Lord Jesus was ministering under the Old Covenant or Old Testament [00:21:09] as he was establishing the New. [00:21:11] So when Jesus ministered to Israelites, he was ministering to [00:21:17] blood covenant children of God. [00:21:19] Now if you say any different, you're going against what the [00:21:23] Scripture says. [00:21:24] See, because I got some psycho lady out there trying to tell me [00:21:27] that, you know, Christian can't have a demon and it's not in the [00:21:30] New Testament. [00:21:31] Well, I'm going to show you, it's in the New and the Old, but [00:21:35] you've got to understand that some of the people, Jesus, you [00:21:38] remember Jesus making the statement, I'm not sent but to [00:21:40] the lost sheep of the house of Israel? [00:21:42] It's a reason for that. [00:21:45] The New Covenant, the New Testament was not fully initiated [00:21:49] until Jesus died on the cross. [00:21:54] So Jesus was operating under the Old Covenant as he was [00:21:58] establishing, fulfilling and establishing the New. [00:22:03] So that's why sometimes we get confused of these things. [00:22:07] But anyway, I hope you got those three things. [00:22:10] Now I know some of them are kind of hard to see. [00:22:15] The last one, the Lord Jesus was ministering under the Old [00:22:18] Testament as he was establishing the New. [00:22:20] So when Jesus ministered to Israelites, he was [00:22:23] ministering to blood covenant children of God. [00:22:26] Not the Gentiles, not those outside the covenant, or what [00:22:30] we would call the unsaved. [00:22:33] Now let's read 1 Corinthians 10, 1 through 6 first, we'll [00:22:37] probably read a few more verses after that, but moreover [00:22:40] brethren, he says here, everybody turn there, I want you [00:22:43] to see it. [00:22:44] 1 Corinthians 10, 1 through 6, if you take a note, you can [00:22:48] just write it down or you want to watch up here, it's [00:22:51] fine. [00:22:52] But he says this, moreover brethren, I would not that [00:22:54] you should be ignorant. [00:22:55] So who is he talking to? [00:22:56] Unsaved people? [00:22:59] I just love to keep pointing this out. [00:23:01] Moreover brethren, I would not that you should be [00:23:03] ignorant now that all our fathers were under the cloud [00:23:06] and all passed through the sea were all baptized under [00:23:08] Moses in the cloud and in the sea and did all eat the [00:23:11] same spiritual meat and did all drink the same [00:23:14] spiritual drink for they drink of that spiritual rock [00:23:16] that followed them. [00:23:17] And that rock was Christ, but with many of them, God [00:23:21] was not well pleased for they were overthrown in [00:23:25] the wilderness. [00:23:26] These things were our examples. [00:23:29] Everybody hear that? [00:23:31] These things are examples unto us to the intent that [00:23:34] we should not lust after evil things as they also [00:23:38] lusted. [00:23:40] And then he continues, 1 Corinthians 7 through 12, [00:23:42] neither be ye idolaters as were some of them, as it [00:23:46] is written, the people sat down to eat and drink and [00:23:48] rose up to play. [00:23:49] Now, what did we learn from 1 Corinthians 10 a [00:23:51] little further down? [00:23:52] Remember a minute ago, verse 20, if you're an [00:23:54] idolater, you are doing what with demons? [00:23:57] Fellowshipping with demons. [00:23:58] You're opening the door to demons. [00:24:00] So he's saying here, the Israelites were opening [00:24:04] the doors to demons by their idolatry and also by [00:24:07] their fornication. [00:24:08] So he says, neither be idolaters as were some of [00:24:11] them, as it is written, the people sat down to eat [00:24:13] and drink and rose up to play. [00:24:15] Neither let us commit fornication if some of [00:24:17] them committed and fell in one day, 3 in 20,000. [00:24:22] So people died. [00:24:23] And then I find this interesting. [00:24:24] He says, neither let us tempt Christ as some of [00:24:26] them also tempted and were destroyed of serpents, [00:24:29] serpents. [00:24:30] Remember the serpents that were biting them? [00:24:32] Because of what? [00:24:33] Their sins of idolatry and fornication. [00:24:36] They were tempting God. [00:24:38] And he says, the serpents were biting them, many [00:24:40] of them dying. [00:24:41] What is that a picture, a type, a shadow, an [00:24:43] example of to us? [00:24:45] If we open the doors to demons through idolatry, [00:24:47] fornication, sexual immorality, we open the [00:24:50] door to demons that we're going to be attacked. [00:24:56] And yes, some even die. [00:24:57] And then he says, neither murmur, yet some of them [00:25:00] also murmured and were destroyed of the destroyer. [00:25:03] Now all these things happened unto them for examples. [00:25:08] And they are written for our admonition, correction, [00:25:11] instruction, teaching, upon whom the ends of [00:25:14] the world are come, wherefore let him that thinketh [00:25:16] he standeth, take heed lest he fall. [00:25:20] So he's clearly talking about sin and demons. [00:25:24] Now here's the Greek definition for the word [00:25:27] example here. [00:25:29] And I love this, down here it says two posts. [00:25:33] It means a die, a stamp, a scar, a shape, a statue, [00:25:38] a style, a resemblance, a sampler, a model for [00:25:43] imitation, for instance, for warning, a pattern. [00:25:47] So God is saying that these things that happened [00:25:49] unto them were examples, patterns, for our instruction. [00:25:55] So again, we live under the new covenant, we don't [00:25:57] live under the old covenant, but we still learn [00:26:01] from the examples and we put them into a new [00:26:04] covenant context. [00:26:07] I'll give you an example. [00:26:08] Now here's a type of shadow and example. [00:26:11] Let's just look at the first Passover. [00:26:14] Everybody ought to know what this means. [00:26:16] This is Exodus 12, verses 12 and 13. [00:26:20] God said, for I will pass through the land of Egypt [00:26:22] this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the [00:26:24] land of Egypt, both man and beast, and all the gods [00:26:27] of Egypt I will execute judgment, and against all [00:26:31] the gods of Egypt, rather, and I am the Lord, [00:26:33] and behold, and the blood, rather, shall be to you [00:26:38] for a token upon the houses where you are. [00:26:40] And when I see the blood, I will pass over you, [00:26:43] and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy [00:26:45] you when I smite the land of Egypt. [00:26:48] So we see that the Passover, and as many will say, [00:26:51] you know, of course, 1 Corinthians 5 talks about [00:26:54] Christ, our Passover. [00:26:56] Jesus became our Passover lamb. [00:26:58] He was crucified on Passover. [00:27:01] So Jesus becomes our Passover, and it's the blood [00:27:05] that has to be applied to our lives. [00:27:07] The blood of Jesus has to be applied to the [00:27:10] doorways of our lives, so that death and [00:27:14] destruction and eternal damnation will pass over us. [00:27:19] But remember, it says, we read it a minute ago, [00:27:21] 1 John, if we walk, if, if we walk in the land, [00:27:25] as he is in the, then the blood. [00:27:28] Remember, the Israelites had to do something. [00:27:29] It wasn't just automatic. [00:27:30] Oh, I'm an Israelite, so therefore, I don't need [00:27:32] to put the blood on my doorpost. [00:27:34] No, no, no, no, no. [00:27:35] You better put some actions to that faith. [00:27:38] You better get the blood of the lamb and the hyssop, [00:27:41] and you better put it on your doorpost. [00:27:44] Again, that faith has actions. [00:27:46] So, but what is the Passover is a type or shadow [00:27:49] of what to us in the New Testament? [00:27:51] Salvation, when we receive the blood of Jesus [00:27:55] to wash our sins away for salvation, [00:27:58] and God delivers us from Egypt a type or shadow [00:28:01] of the world. [00:28:02] Now, this is commonly accepted within Christianity [00:28:05] that this Passover, it was a real event, [00:28:09] but it also is an allegory, a type or shadow [00:28:12] of what we experience in the New Testament [00:28:14] through the blood of Jesus or salvation. [00:28:17] Everybody with me? [00:28:19] The next thing we see, and we're gonna read [00:28:22] 1 Corinthians 10, one through two again. [00:28:24] He says, moreover, brethren, I would not [00:28:26] that ye should be ignorant how that all [00:28:28] of our fathers were under the cloud [00:28:29] and all passed through the sea, [00:28:32] and thus were all baptized unto Moses [00:28:36] in the cloud and in the sea. [00:28:39] So when they went through the Red Sea, [00:28:40] when the pillar of the cloud [00:28:43] of God's presence came to them [00:28:46] to lead them through the wilderness, [00:28:48] to protect them from Pharaoh as God [00:28:49] was dividing the sea. [00:28:51] As the cloud of God's presence came, [00:28:53] and as the sea was parted and they went [00:28:56] through the sea, God is saying this is [00:28:59] a type or shadow of two baptisms [00:29:01] that we experience as believers. [00:29:03] Water baptism and the cloud [00:29:06] of God's presence, and who is that? [00:29:09] The Holy Spirit, exactly. [00:29:11] So you see that, two baptisms, [00:29:13] that's why we have a perfect type [00:29:15] or shadow from the Old Testament [00:29:19] about salvation, then water baptism, [00:29:23] then the baptism of the Holy Spirit. [00:29:27] Each their own thing. [00:29:30] Now, I heard for years when I was [00:29:34] a young person going to church [00:29:37] was that going into the Promised Land [00:29:41] was a type and shadow of going to heaven. [00:29:45] Could not be further from the truth. [00:29:50] Let me explain something to you. [00:29:51] The 40 years, remember, we have [00:29:54] the Passover, them coming out of Egypt, [00:29:57] the world, sinned by the blood of the lamb. [00:30:00] Then we have them being baptized [00:30:02] in the cloud of God's presence, [00:30:03] the Holy Spirit, and through the sea, [00:30:05] water baptism. [00:30:06] And then they go into the wilderness. [00:30:08] Now, their wanderings in the wilderness, [00:30:12] what is that a picture of? [00:30:14] Oh, brother, that's the picture [00:30:17] of us in this weird world. [00:30:20] No, it's not. [00:30:22] Let me tell you what's a picture of. [00:30:23] They could have went into the wilderness [00:30:26] and straight into the Promised Land, [00:30:27] but something hindered them. [00:30:30] Disobedience, sin, whining and complaining against God. [00:30:38] When God told them to go into the land, [00:30:40] they didn't go, and God said, okay, fine. [00:30:44] You're gonna wander in this wilderness [00:30:46] until all these whiners and complainers are dead. [00:30:52] Say, I'm in the wilderness, brother. [00:30:53] No, you're in the wilderness. [00:30:54] You better check and find out [00:30:55] where you've been disobedient. [00:31:01] Because the obedient Christians [00:31:04] move into the Promised Land. [00:31:05] But what is the Promised Land? [00:31:06] If the Promised Land is not a type and shadow of heaven, [00:31:10] and you say, well, Pastor Dean, [00:31:11] that's why I've heard that my whole life. [00:31:13] They taught that in the Baptist Church, [00:31:15] in the Methodist Church, [00:31:15] in the Assembly of God Church. [00:31:17] That's what I heard. [00:31:17] The Promised Land, they got hymns about it. [00:31:21] No, it's not. [00:31:24] Because the Promised Land had one little problem. [00:31:28] It was full of giants, [00:31:31] Nephilim, strongholds of the pagan heathens. [00:31:37] Let's read this. [00:31:39] This is Numbers 13, 27 and 28, and 32 and 33. [00:31:44] Gonna read this right here. [00:31:46] Numbers 13. [00:31:49] Moses had sent them into the land [00:31:51] to some spies to go in. [00:31:53] And when they came back, two said, we can do it. [00:31:57] Caleb and Joshua, 10 said, we can't do it. [00:31:59] And this is what they told him. [00:32:00] It says, and they told him, it said, [00:32:02] we came into the land, whether thou sent us. [00:32:04] And surely it would floweth with milk and honey. [00:32:07] And this is the fruit of it, nevertheless. [00:32:10] Nevertheless. [00:32:11] No, there's no nevertheless with God. [00:32:13] You do what he says. [00:32:15] Nevertheless, the people be strong that dwell in the land [00:32:17] and the cities are walled and very great. [00:32:21] Strongholds. [00:32:23] Sound familiar? [00:32:27] He says, the walls, the cities are walled and very great. [00:32:30] And moreover, we saw the children of Anak there. [00:32:32] Who are the children of Anak? [00:32:35] Giants. [00:32:35] What were the giants? [00:32:37] The half-breeds of the fallen angels and human women. [00:32:41] Very evil, powerful entities. [00:32:43] And they were men and women of great stature. [00:32:47] And they brought up an evil report of the land, [00:32:49] which they had searched under the children of Israel, [00:32:51] saying the land through which we have gone to search it [00:32:54] is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof. [00:32:57] And all the people that we saw in it [00:32:58] are men of great stature. [00:33:00] And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, [00:33:02] which come of the giants. [00:33:03] And we were in our own sight as grasshoppers [00:33:06] and so we were in their sight. [00:33:08] So they tell us the Promised Land [00:33:11] was full of Nephilim, giants. [00:33:16] The fallen angel half-breeds, half-human, half-fallen angels. [00:33:21] So if the Promised Land is full of these evil beings [00:33:24] and their strongholds, how can it [00:33:26] be a type of shadow of heaven? [00:33:29] There's no evil beings, demonic strongholds, [00:33:33] heathen, pagan, wicked people in heaven. [00:33:38] Got to get our types and shadows correct here. [00:33:41] What was the command that God gave to Moses [00:33:45] and then to Joshua? [00:33:49] It was to go into the land, drive out [00:33:53] these evil inhabitants, destroy them, remove them, [00:33:58] tear down their houses, their cities, their idols, [00:34:02] drive them out. [00:34:05] What is that a picture of, folks? [00:34:08] Deliverance. [00:34:11] Going into the Promised Land and fighting [00:34:13] against the giants, the Nephilim and the demons [00:34:17] and the strongholds, this is a type or shadow of picture [00:34:20] of us going into our land. [00:34:21] Remember, it's our land. [00:34:23] Your spirit, soul, and body is yours. [00:34:24] It belongs to you. [00:34:25] You're a temple of the Holy Ghost. [00:34:26] But while you were messing around [00:34:28] or while you were ignorant, the devil [00:34:30] brought in his strongholds. [00:34:32] He brought in the wicked. [00:34:33] He brought in the unclean. [00:34:35] And the obedient Christian grasped behold to this [00:34:40] and obeys the command to drive them out, to clean the land. [00:34:46] That's what this is a type or shadow of. [00:34:51] Somebody out there, amen? [00:34:53] Amen or old me, right? [00:34:56] Now see, Israel failed to drive out the Canaanites. [00:35:01] This is from the Book of Judges. [00:35:02] Judges 1, 28, and then Judges 2, 1 through 3. [00:35:06] It says, and it came to pass when Israel was strong [00:35:09] that they put the Canaanites to tribute, [00:35:11] but did not utterly drive them out. [00:35:15] Oh, this is a problem when you leave these Nephilim, [00:35:19] these giants, these demon fallen angel creatures in your land. [00:35:25] You don't drive them out. [00:35:26] Here's what happens. [00:35:28] Judges 2, 1 through 3. [00:35:29] And the angel of the Lord came upon Gilgal to book him [00:35:32] and said, I made you to go up out of Egypt. [00:35:35] Salvation, I brought you into the land, [00:35:37] which I swear unto your fathers. [00:35:38] And I said, I will never break my covenant with you. [00:35:41] And you shall make no league with the inhabitants [00:35:43] of this land. [00:35:44] You shall throw down their altars, [00:35:46] but you have not obeyed my voice. [00:35:48] Why have you done this? [00:35:50] Wherefore, I also said, I will not drive them out before you, [00:35:53] but they shall be as thorns in your sides [00:35:55] and their gods shall be a snare to you. [00:35:58] God's speaking to his own people. [00:36:00] And he said, because you didn't obey me [00:36:02] to drive these things out, I'm not doing it for you. [00:36:04] He even said, I'm not doing it. [00:36:06] I'm not driving them out. [00:36:09] Isn't that what Jesus said? [00:36:10] He said, in my name, you will cast out the demon. [00:36:12] I'm not doing it for you. [00:36:15] In my name, you cast them out. [00:36:18] You clean the house. [00:36:19] You, brethren, you cleanse the house [00:36:22] of all filthiness and flesh. [00:36:23] You do it. [00:36:25] You sit on your butt and you don't. [00:36:28] God's not doing it. [00:36:29] And what's going to happen? [00:36:30] The demonic strongholds that you leave in your land, [00:36:35] they're going to be a snare to you. [00:36:38] They're going to be thorns in your sides. [00:36:40] And they're going to cause you to fall and stumble. [00:36:41] The word snare, stumbling block, [00:36:43] to fall, to trip up, to trap. [00:36:47] Demonic strongholds in you, Christian, they're a time bomb. [00:36:50] They're a ticking time bomb. [00:36:53] They're like a sleeper cell. [00:37:00] It's interesting, the Book of Enoch talks about this. [00:37:02] And yes, I believe the Book of Enoch is legit [00:37:04] because Peter and Paul and Jesus quote from it, [00:37:08] word for word. [00:37:10] I'm talking about the Enoch One found [00:37:13] in the Dead Sea Scrolls, [00:37:15] found in the Ethiopian Bible in the 1700s, [00:37:19] then found in 1947 in the Dead Sea Scrolls. [00:37:22] Here's the interest. [00:37:23] This is Enoch 15, eight through 11. [00:37:26] Listen to what he says here about the giants, [00:37:30] because this even makes more sense [00:37:32] when you realize that demons and fallen angels [00:37:36] are not the same thing. [00:37:38] Everybody look at me. [00:37:39] Do you hear what I said? [00:37:41] Do you hear what I said? [00:37:42] Everybody assumes the fallen angels [00:37:44] and the demons are the same thing and not at all. [00:37:47] The Bible bears that out [00:37:48] and the Book of Enoch bears that out, [00:37:49] but let's look at it. [00:37:50] This is Enoch 15, eight through 11. [00:37:53] He says, and now the giants [00:37:54] who are produced from the spirits and flesh [00:37:57] shall be called evil spirits upon the earth [00:38:00] and on the earth shall be their dwelling. [00:38:03] Evil spirits have proceeded from their bodies. [00:38:06] See the evil spirits, the demon spirits, [00:38:09] are the spirits of the dead Nephilim, the dead giants. [00:38:14] So even more so is the connection [00:38:16] of the Promised Land representing, [00:38:18] and the giants and the children of Enoch [00:38:19] representing the demons. [00:38:20] This is even more concrete and clear now. [00:38:25] He says evil spirits have proceeded from their bodies [00:38:27] because they are born from men [00:38:29] and from the Holy Watchers [00:38:31] is their beginning and their primal origin. [00:38:34] And they shall be evil spirits on the earth, [00:38:35] and evil spirits shall they be called. [00:38:38] As for the spirits of heaven, [00:38:39] in heaven shall be their dwelling, [00:38:40] but as for the spirits of the earth, [00:38:42] which were born upon the earth, [00:38:44] and the earth shall be their dwelling. [00:38:45] This is where we get the ghost stories from, you guys. [00:38:50] It's not human beings, spirits that are still here. [00:38:55] It's the dead giant spirits that are still here. [00:39:02] He goes on to say, [00:39:03] as for the spirits of heaven, [00:39:04] in heaven shall be their dwelling, [00:39:06] but as for the spirits of the earth, [00:39:07] which were born upon the earth, [00:39:08] and on the earth shall be their dwelling, [00:39:10] and the spirits of the giants afflict, [00:39:14] oppress, destroy, attack, do battle, [00:39:17] and work destruction on the earth and cause trouble. [00:39:21] Sounds like demon spirits, right? [00:39:26] They cause destruction and they cause trouble. [00:39:27] They take no food, [00:39:29] but nevertheless they hunger and thirst. [00:39:32] Remember, Jesus said, [00:39:33] when the unclean spirit goes out of a man, [00:39:34] they walk in dry places seeking rest, [00:39:36] satisfaction, peace. [00:39:40] They only find that when they get in you. [00:39:44] The only semblance of peace these unclean spirits find [00:39:46] is when they get in you. [00:39:52] Give them any. [00:39:54] He says they shall cause offenses [00:39:56] and these spirits shall rise up [00:39:58] against the children of men and against the women [00:40:00] because they have proceeded from them. [00:40:03] So because they're half fallen angel [00:40:05] and half human, they come after us. [00:40:13] You say, well, Pastor Dean, wait a minute now. [00:40:15] That's the Book of Enoch. [00:40:17] How do you know? [00:40:18] Because the Bible tells us this, [00:40:20] that the demon spirits and the fallen angels [00:40:22] can't be the same thing. [00:40:23] You know why? [00:40:24] Because the fallen angels are chained until Judgment Day. [00:40:28] And this is what the Bible says. [00:40:29] We'll give you two passages. [00:40:31] And here's what's interesting. [00:40:32] I'm gonna give you two passages, [00:40:33] one from 2 Peter and one from Jude, [00:40:36] but you're gonna find out that Peter and Jude [00:40:38] are quoting Enoch. [00:40:41] The angels that sinned are chained. [00:40:44] 2 Peter 2, 4 through 5, [00:40:46] for if God spared not the angels that sinned, [00:40:49] but cast them down to hell. [00:40:52] And delivered them into chains of darkness [00:40:55] to be reserved unto judgment. [00:40:58] And spared not the old world, [00:40:59] but saved Noah the eighth person, [00:41:00] the preacher of righteousness, [00:41:01] bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly. [00:41:05] So God spared not the angels that sinned. [00:41:08] Well, you say, well, that's just, [00:41:10] is that just the ones that sinned with women? [00:41:11] Or did he just say the angels that sinned? [00:41:14] What angels sinned? [00:41:16] The ones who followed Lucifer, Satan, out of heaven. [00:41:22] Jude makes it clear, also Jude 6, [00:41:25] and the angels which kept not their first estate. [00:41:28] Well, who would that be? [00:41:30] The ones who didn't stay in heaven, right? [00:41:33] And the angels which kept not their first estate, [00:41:35] but left their own habitation. [00:41:38] He hath reserved in everlasting chains [00:41:42] under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. [00:41:45] Everybody say this with me. [00:41:47] Everlasting chains. [00:41:52] Pretty much means forever, unto the judgment. [00:41:57] So it's not fallen angels running around, [00:42:00] possessing people, oppressing people, afflicting people. [00:42:05] Everybody hear me? [00:42:08] It's the dead spirits of the giants. [00:42:10] And let me tell you something else. [00:42:11] Remember this, that the Nephilim, the giants, [00:42:15] the descendants of the half breed, [00:42:17] the fallen angels and human women from Genesis 6. [00:42:23] Remember, there were male giants and female giants. [00:42:28] So when they die and their spirits leave their bodies [00:42:32] and are made to roam the earth [00:42:33] and they're looking for someone to possess, [00:42:35] remember, one's a male spirit and one's a female spirit. [00:42:39] I think there's some of these female spirits [00:42:42] getting in to men is why they can act so effeminate [00:42:47] and become homosexual. [00:42:52] Some of that homosexuality is a demon, people. [00:42:55] It's a demon. [00:43:01] It's interesting, here's the book of Enoch. [00:43:02] This is Enoch chapter 10. [00:43:05] The book of Enoch was here before the New Testament. [00:43:10] And the apostles and the Lord Jesus [00:43:12] were very, very familiar with this [00:43:16] and actually quoted it and taught principles [00:43:20] within it quite often. [00:43:21] Now look at this. [00:43:22] Talking about the angels that sin [00:43:25] and these angels that defile themselves with women. [00:43:27] Here it is. [00:43:27] And the Lord said unto Michael, [00:43:29] go bind some Zaza and his associates [00:43:33] who have united themselves with women [00:43:35] so as to have defiled themselves with them [00:43:38] in all their uncleanness. [00:43:40] And when their sons have slain one another [00:43:42] and they have seen the destruction of their beloved ones, [00:43:45] the clash of the titans is what that was. [00:43:47] That's not mythology, that's true. [00:43:49] This happened. [00:43:50] Bind them fast for 70 generations [00:43:53] where in the valleys of the earth [00:43:55] till the day of their judgment [00:43:57] and of their consummation, the deep places of the earth, [00:44:00] till the judgment that is forever and ever is consummated [00:44:04] in those days shall they be led off to the abyss of fire [00:44:07] and to the torment and the prison [00:44:09] in which they shall be confined forever. [00:44:12] And it's interesting. [00:44:14] The book of Enoch said, what? [00:44:15] The angels that sinned, Michael, go bind them. [00:44:21] Put them in the deep places of the earth [00:44:23] and tell the judgment exactly what 2 Peter [00:44:26] and the book of Jude has to say. [00:44:29] You got a problem with Enoch, [00:44:30] you got a problem with your Bible. [00:44:31] Just gonna tell you that right now. [00:44:34] Now let's get to this light and darkness question. [00:44:36] Let's go to 2 Corinthians chapter six, [00:44:40] 13 through 18. [00:44:41] Let's just answer this. [00:44:44] Light and darkness, Lord, have mercy. [00:44:49] Can I just say that within creation, [00:44:52] we have light and darkness at the same time every day. [00:44:56] You know, who was it? [00:44:57] Jimmy Buffett, five o'clock somewhere, was it him? [00:45:02] Well, guess what? [00:45:04] Right now, it's daytime where we live. [00:45:07] On the other side of the world, it's nighttime. [00:45:09] Day and night, light and darkness at the same time [00:45:12] over our creation that God gave us. [00:45:15] So you got that picture, but that's just one. [00:45:19] But let's read this, 2 Corinthians six, 13 through 18. [00:45:23] This is what the people who say, [00:45:24] oh, Christian, can I have a demon, light and darkness? [00:45:26] Can light and darkness dwell in the same place, same time? [00:45:30] Yeah, guess what? [00:45:31] It's dark up underneath this carpet, [00:45:33] but this room's light. [00:45:35] I mean, I could just do this all day long, right? [00:45:38] Now, for a recompense and the same, [00:45:40] Paul says here, I speak as unto my children. [00:45:43] Whoa, whoa, who's he speaking to? [00:45:47] Many people, he led to the Lord. [00:45:49] He called himself a father in the faith, [00:45:50] and the people that he led to Jesus [00:45:52] that were born again through his travail of prayer, [00:45:54] he called them his children. [00:45:56] So he's speaking to Christians [00:45:58] as if we needed to point that out. [00:46:01] But as speak as unto my children, be also enlarged, [00:46:04] be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers. [00:46:08] For what fellowship hath righteousness [00:46:10] with unrighteousness? [00:46:12] Now, first of all, let me say this. [00:46:15] He's saying, be not unequally yoked with unbelievers. [00:46:18] He's telling them this because they were already doing it. [00:46:21] And he says, what fellowship has righteousness [00:46:24] with unrighteousness? [00:46:25] It's not that they weren't or weren't able to do it. [00:46:30] They obviously were. [00:46:30] He was pointing out, you can't live in both worlds. [00:46:33] You can't do both. [00:46:34] You're gonna have to make up your mind. [00:46:35] Righteousness or unrighteousness? [00:46:39] He says, in what communion hath light with darkness? [00:46:42] He's saying again, what communion? [00:46:44] What fellowship? [00:46:45] And he's talking about spiritual light [00:46:47] and spiritual darkness, [00:46:48] because he's talking about righteousness and unrighteousness. [00:46:49] Same thing. [00:46:51] He says, what communion? [00:46:52] What fellowship? [00:46:53] None. [00:46:54] You shouldn't be having both. [00:46:55] You can't be a double-minded person. [00:46:59] And then he says, in what concord hath Christ with Belial? [00:47:02] Or what part has he that believeth with an infidel? [00:47:05] And what agreement? [00:47:06] Half the temple of God with idols. [00:47:08] For you are the temple of the living God. [00:47:09] As God has said, I will dwell in them [00:47:11] and will walk in them and I will be their God [00:47:12] and they shall be my people. [00:47:13] And then he says this, [00:47:14] wherefore come out from among them [00:47:17] and be ye separate, sayeth the Lord, [00:47:19] and touch not the unclean thing. [00:47:20] Well, if he's having to tell Christians [00:47:22] to come out from among them, [00:47:24] that means they were doing these things already. [00:47:30] He says, come out from that. [00:47:31] Come out from what? [00:47:32] Unrighteousness. [00:47:33] Come out from darkness. [00:47:36] Come out from Belial. [00:47:38] Come out from being with the infidels [00:47:41] and acting like an infidel. [00:47:43] Come out from the idols. [00:47:45] So he's telling them, come out from that stuff. [00:47:49] Touch not the unclean thing and I will receive you. [00:47:54] And I will be a father unto you [00:47:55] and you shall be my sons and daughters, [00:47:56] sayeth the Lord Almighty. [00:47:58] So just the fact that Paul has to tell them, [00:48:03] come out of this stuff, [00:48:04] means they were doing this stuff. [00:48:06] They were trying to live in light and darkness [00:48:08] at the same time. [00:48:09] They were trying to live in righteousness [00:48:10] and unrighteous at the same time. [00:48:12] They were trying to live with Jesus and the devil. [00:48:13] Like I tell people all the time, [00:48:14] you follow Jesus, you break up with the devil, [00:48:16] you give him back his stuff. [00:48:18] But they were trying, how many? [00:48:19] This is the reality of many Christians now in our time [00:48:22] trying to hold on to both worlds. [00:48:26] Paul said, come out from that. [00:48:28] And then this verse is followed by, [00:48:31] this is the end of chapter six. [00:48:37] And of course we already covered it, [00:48:39] but seven verse one says, having therefore these promises. [00:48:43] Dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves [00:48:45] from all filthiness of the flesh and the spirit. [00:48:47] So saying that light and darkness [00:48:49] can't dwell at the same place at the same time, [00:48:51] when you're speaking about spiritual darkness, [00:48:53] Satan, demons. [00:48:54] What they're saying is Satan and demons [00:48:55] couldn't dwell in you as a temple [00:48:58] if the Holy Spirit and God's in you. [00:48:59] Well, guess what? [00:49:01] We see that happening all the time. [00:49:03] Let's look at it. [00:49:04] I pointed this out last week, [00:49:05] but I'm gonna cover it in detail right now. [00:49:07] Y'all stay with me. [00:49:08] Now God is omnipresent. [00:49:10] That means he's everywhere all the time. [00:49:12] If light and darkness could not exist in the same place, [00:49:15] then Satan and his demons could not exist at all anywhere. [00:49:20] We're gonna go to Job one and two in a minute. [00:49:22] But look at Psalm 139, seven through 12 says, [00:49:25] whether shall I go from thy spirit? [00:49:27] This is him speaking to God. [00:49:28] And whether shall I free from thy presence? [00:49:31] If I ascended to heaven, thou art there. [00:49:33] If I make my bed in hell, behold thou art there. [00:49:35] If I take the wings of the morning [00:49:37] and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, [00:49:39] even there shall thy hand lead me [00:49:41] and thy right hand shall hold me. [00:49:42] And surely the darkness shall cover me. [00:49:44] Even the night shall be light about me. [00:49:46] Yea, the darkness heighteth not from thee, [00:49:48] but the night shineth as the day [00:49:49] and the darkness and the light are both alike to thee. [00:49:53] He's saying, if I go to heaven, you're there. [00:49:55] If I go to hell, David is saying, [00:49:57] there's nowhere I can go to escape your presence, oh God. [00:50:00] So if David can't go anywhere to escape his presence, [00:50:03] then Satan and the demons can't go anywhere to escape. [00:50:07] Meaning that God allows his presence [00:50:09] and the Satan and the demonic realm to exist [00:50:12] at the same time in the same space [00:50:14] called our earth and our nice little dome we have. [00:50:22] Now let's look. [00:50:25] Some people say, again, demons and God [00:50:28] can't be in the same place at the same time. [00:50:30] You're ridiculous. [00:50:32] You're ridiculous. [00:50:33] You haven't read your Bible. [00:50:34] Job one, verses six through 12. [00:50:38] Now there was a day when the sons of God [00:50:41] came to present themselves before the Lord. [00:50:43] Who? [00:50:44] The sons of God, who are the sons of God? [00:50:46] That's a reference to the angels in the Old Testament. [00:50:49] So the angels come to present themselves [00:50:51] before the Lord and Satan came. [00:50:53] Everybody say, and Satan. [00:50:54] And Satan. [00:50:56] What? [00:50:59] The angels are coming to present themselves [00:51:00] before the Lord and Satan slips in among them. [00:51:04] Where are they? [00:51:05] Where's the Lord? [00:51:06] Seated upon his throne in heaven. [00:51:08] In the third heaven. [00:51:10] And the Lord said unto Satan, whence comest thou? [00:51:12] And Satan answered the Lord and said, [00:51:14] from going to and fro in the earth. [00:51:16] I like that. [00:51:17] And walking up and down in it. [00:51:19] And the Lord said unto Satan, [00:51:20] hast thou considered my servant Job? [00:51:23] That there is none like him in the earth. [00:51:24] A perfect and upright man. [00:51:26] One that feareth God and escheweth evil. [00:51:28] Then Satan answered the Lord and said, [00:51:29] doth Job fear God for naught? [00:51:31] Hast naught thou made a hedge about him? [00:51:33] And about his house and about all that he hath on every side? [00:51:37] Thou has blessed the work of his hands [00:51:38] and his substance is increased in the land. [00:51:40] But put forth thine hand now and touch all that he has [00:51:43] and he will curse thee to thy faith. [00:51:45] And the Lord said unto Satan, [00:51:47] behold all that he hath is in thy power [00:51:49] only upon himself put not thine hand, forth thine hand. [00:51:53] So Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord. [00:51:57] From where? [00:52:01] Well, wait a minute. [00:52:02] You armchair theologians, [00:52:04] I thought that Satan and demons [00:52:08] couldn't be in the same place at the same time. [00:52:11] Got too many armchair theologians is what we got. [00:52:15] They know not what they speak. [00:52:18] So this light and darkness thing, [00:52:20] you know, like I made me a little Satan [00:52:23] at the throne of God just illustrated. [00:52:32] You know, like it ain't gonna say, [00:52:35] okay buddy, your time's up. [00:52:36] It's time to move on. [00:52:39] But this is the book of Job right here. [00:52:40] This is what was happening. [00:52:43] Satan was standing in the presence of the Lord [00:52:47] at the throne with the holy angels [00:52:49] making his petition and request for Job. [00:52:52] So don't tell me Satan and demons can't be in the same place [00:52:56] where the presence of God and the spirit of God. [00:53:00] I mean, anybody say there might be a little bit [00:53:02] of the glory and presence of God at the throne. [00:53:08] Why would God do that, Pastor Dean? [00:53:10] God allows Satan to exist [00:53:12] and do what he's doing for this time period [00:53:14] because he is allowing him to be the instrument [00:53:18] to try and to test and to prove mankind [00:53:21] who will serve God from the heart [00:53:25] and who will serve Satan. [00:53:28] He's allowing Satan to weed the world out. [00:53:36] Now let's go to Solomon's Temple. [00:53:38] What's that? [00:53:39] The Wheat and the Tares, exactly. [00:53:42] In the same field. [00:53:46] Let's look at the temple, Solomon's Temple. [00:53:48] Everybody remember this? [00:53:50] This is an elaborate thing that was built here by Solomon. [00:53:54] Took 46 years in building it. [00:53:58] No, I'm sorry, that's the other temple. [00:53:59] I can't remember how many years. [00:54:00] Took a few years. [00:54:02] But the dedication of the temple, [00:54:06] and that's what we'll go to, I want you to see this, [00:54:09] was in 964 BC under the time of Solomon. [00:54:14] I want you to see this [00:54:15] because the presence and glory of God [00:54:17] comes down and fills Solomon's Temple [00:54:20] at the dedication in 964 BC. [00:54:23] And this is from 1 Kings 8, 6, and then 10 through 11. [00:54:28] And the priest brought in the Ark of the covenant [00:54:30] of the Lord unto his place, [00:54:32] into the oracle of the house to the most holy place, [00:54:36] even under the wings of the cherubim. [00:54:37] And it came to pass when the priest [00:54:39] were come out from the holy place, [00:54:41] that the cloud filled the house of the Lord. [00:54:44] The cloud, what is the cloud? [00:54:46] The manifestation of God's presence, his spirit, [00:54:49] the Holy Spirit. [00:54:49] The cloud descended and says, [00:54:54] the priest could not stand to minister [00:54:56] because of the cloud for the glory of the Lord [00:54:59] had filled the house of the Lord. [00:55:03] So Solomon obeys God, obeys his father's, [00:55:08] David provided everything he needed [00:55:10] and David provided the building plans that God gave him. [00:55:13] And Solomon obeyed and built it. [00:55:15] And Solomon was faithful in his early days. [00:55:18] And Solomon prayed in the day of the dedication [00:55:20] and the glory of God comes into the temple. [00:55:24] Now, are we the temple of the Holy Ghost? [00:55:27] When you're born again, [00:55:28] the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in you. [00:55:30] If you have not the spirit of Christ, you are none of his. [00:55:34] The Holy Spirit comes in you as salvation. [00:55:36] Now there's a baptism, an infilling, [00:55:38] an overflowing that comes that can come later. [00:55:41] But we all receive the Holy Spirit [00:55:44] in measure at salvation. [00:55:46] So our temples receive the glory of God, [00:55:50] the presence of God. [00:55:51] Just like the temple. [00:55:57] Not too many decades later, [00:56:01] Second Chronicles 33, one through seven, [00:56:04] the temple began to be defiled, [00:56:07] meaning the wicked King Manasseh [00:56:12] began to bring in idols, statues, paganism. [00:56:17] Let's read this. [00:56:17] Manasseh was 12 years old when he began to reign [00:56:21] and he reigned 50 and five years in Jerusalem, [00:56:23] but did that which was evil in the side of the Lord, [00:56:25] like unto the abominations of the heathen, [00:56:27] whom the Lord had cast out before the children of Israel, [00:56:30] where he built again the high places, [00:56:31] which Hezekiah, his father had broken down, [00:56:34] and he reared up altars for Baal and made groves [00:56:36] and worshiped all the hosts to heaven and served them. [00:56:38] Now this is bad enough, [00:56:40] but Manasseh took it a step further [00:56:42] than a lot of the kings did. [00:56:45] It says also he built altars in the house of the Lord. [00:56:51] This is the house of the Lord right here. [00:56:52] We're not talking about the outer court. [00:56:54] It says that King Manasseh, the evil son of Hezekiah, [00:56:58] built altars inside of this house. [00:57:02] Now if you build altars to pagan gods, [00:57:04] to worship pagan gods, what are you inviting in here? [00:57:08] Demons, exactly. [00:57:12] It says he built altars in the house of the Lord, [00:57:14] whereof the Lord had said in Jerusalem, [00:57:16] shall be my name forever, [00:57:17] and he built altars for all the hosts of heaven [00:57:21] in the two courts of the house of the Lord. [00:57:24] Everybody say in the two courts. [00:57:28] That means out here and in here. [00:57:32] See, the temple of Solomon and the tabernacle of Moses [00:57:36] had three places. [00:57:37] Had the outer court, that would be our body. [00:57:39] Had the inner court or the holy place, [00:57:42] which would be our soul. [00:57:44] That's the place where they had the altar of incense [00:57:47] and the showbread. [00:57:49] But then there was the most holy place. [00:57:52] There was the third compartment. [00:57:54] And that was where the glory and the presence of God, [00:57:56] that would be our spirit, okay? [00:58:00] So here we have him. [00:58:03] Somebody tell me, hey, listen to me. [00:58:05] Somebody tell me, where's he putting these altars [00:58:08] and these images outside the house? [00:58:13] In the house. [00:58:14] Has the glory of God left the house? [00:58:17] Not yet. [00:58:19] Oh, we got another type and shadow here, don't we? [00:58:22] Paul, Kevin, Patrick, Trey. [00:58:27] Another type and shadow, another example. [00:58:30] All right, let's keep reading. [00:58:33] It says that he caused his children [00:58:35] to pass through the fire [00:58:36] in the valley of the son of Hinnom. [00:58:38] And he observed times and used enchantments [00:58:40] and used witchcraft [00:58:41] and dealt with the familiar spirit and with withers. [00:58:43] And he wrought much evil on the side of the Lord [00:58:46] to provoke him to anger. [00:58:47] And he set a carved image, [00:58:50] the idol which he had made in the house of God. [00:58:58] Everybody shakes their head at Manasseh. [00:59:01] But you do it. [00:59:04] If you're born again Christian, [00:59:06] full of the Holy Spirit, [00:59:09] and you go pray to Mary, [00:59:12] what'd you just do? [00:59:16] You bow to a statue. [00:59:17] You got a Buddha in your house. [00:59:19] You're doing yoga, bowing to the sun every day. [00:59:24] You're putting idol in the house. [00:59:27] And if you put idol in the house, [00:59:28] you put a demon in the house. [00:59:34] It's the truth. [00:59:37] Now let's look at the book of Ezekiel. [00:59:42] We're going forward almost a hundred years [00:59:46] past the time of Manasseh. [00:59:50] And there had been times [00:59:51] when the temple would be cleansed [00:59:53] and times when it would be defiled again [00:59:54] on and off and on and off and on and off. [00:59:56] The glory of God never leaves [00:59:58] until we see the Babylonian captivity. [01:00:00] And I wanna show you what finally made [01:00:04] God and his presence leave the temple, [01:00:07] his temple. [01:00:09] He put up with a lot of crap [01:00:12] from a lot of people. [01:00:14] He let his temple be defiled and he never left. [01:00:17] And then in a picture of his mighty patience [01:00:19] with you and me, [01:00:20] how he comes in and his Holy Spirit dwells there [01:00:23] and then we slip back into some sin [01:00:24] or we fall or we backslide [01:00:26] or we become lukewarm. [01:00:29] And how God will stay with us [01:00:30] and he'll try to get us to repent [01:00:32] and he'll try to work with us. [01:00:33] Patience. [01:00:34] But if you don't repent, [01:00:35] if you just leave it, [01:00:36] just keep in sin [01:00:37] and let the demons stay in your temple. [01:00:40] Finally, one day, [01:00:42] God's gonna leave. [01:00:44] As they say, the Holy Spirit comes in [01:00:46] like a whirlwind, [01:00:46] but if he leaves, [01:00:48] you'll never know him. [01:00:50] Cause you'll be so far off by then [01:00:52] you won't even grasp it. [01:00:53] But this is Ezekiel 8, 3-6. [01:00:56] Ezekiel says that God put forth [01:00:59] the form of a hand [01:01:00] and he took me by the lock of my head. [01:01:01] He grabbed me by the hair. [01:01:03] And the Spirit lifted me up [01:01:05] between earth and the heaven [01:01:06] and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, [01:01:09] to the door of the inner gate [01:01:11] that look at toward the north [01:01:12] whereas the seat of the image of jealousy [01:01:13] which provokes to jealousy. [01:01:15] So God brings Ezekiel [01:01:17] to the temple in Jerusalem. [01:01:18] He's in Babylonian captivity. [01:01:20] God takes him in the spirit to Jerusalem, [01:01:22] brings him to the door [01:01:23] and he sees the idol set up [01:01:24] at the door [01:01:26] in the inner court there [01:01:28] of jealousy. [01:01:30] And behold, the glory of the God of Israel was there [01:01:32] according to the vision that I saw in the plane. [01:01:35] Then he said unto me, [01:01:35] Son of man lift up thine eyes now [01:01:37] way toward the north. [01:01:38] So I lifted up my eyes [01:01:39] by way toward the north [01:01:40] and behold northward at the gate of the altar [01:01:42] this image of jealousy in the entry. [01:01:44] And he said further to me, [01:01:45] he said, Son of man seeest thou what they do? [01:01:48] Even the great abominations [01:01:49] that the house of Israel committed here [01:01:52] that I should go far off from my sanctuary [01:01:54] but turn thee yet again [01:01:55] and I will show you greater abominations. [01:01:59] God saying I haven't left my house yet [01:02:01] but I'm about to. [01:02:03] But let me show you what they're doing in my house. [01:02:09] Ezekiel 8, seven through 14 [01:02:10] and he brought me to the door of the court. [01:02:12] And when I looked behold, [01:02:14] a hole in the wall [01:02:15] and then he said unto me, [01:02:16] Son of man dig now in the wall. [01:02:17] And when I had digged in the wall [01:02:18] behold the door [01:02:19] and he said unto me go in [01:02:20] and behold the wicked abominations [01:02:22] that they do here. [01:02:23] So I went in and saw and behold [01:02:25] every form of creeping thing [01:02:26] an abominable beast [01:02:27] and all the idols of the house of Israel [01:02:28] portrayed on the wall round about. [01:02:30] They had put graffiti [01:02:32] of their idols and their demons [01:02:34] and the creeping things [01:02:37] on God's temple. [01:02:41] I don't know that might be folks [01:02:42] getting these tattoos. [01:02:44] Oh, I'll skip that for now. [01:02:51] He said so they put their eyes. [01:02:52] So what happens when you draw a symbol [01:02:55] that's a demonic symbol? [01:02:58] You bring a spirit to that point. [01:03:02] We're gonna cover all this [01:03:02] in the cursed objects in the days ahead. [01:03:05] Well let's keep going. [01:03:09] And he says in there stood before them [01:03:10] 70 men of the ancients [01:03:12] of the house of Israel [01:03:13] and in the midst of them stood [01:03:14] Jezaniya the son of Shefan. [01:03:17] With every man his censer in his hand [01:03:18] and a thick cloud of incense went up. [01:03:20] And then he said unto me son of man [01:03:22] hast thou seen with the ancients [01:03:23] the elders of the house of Israel [01:03:25] do in the dark [01:03:26] every man of the chambers of his imagery. [01:03:29] For they say the Lord seeth us not [01:03:30] the Lord has forsaken the earth. [01:03:32] He said also unto me turn thee yet again [01:03:35] and thou shalt see greater abominations [01:03:36] that they do. [01:03:37] Then he brought me to the door of the gate [01:03:39] of the Lord's house [01:03:41] which was toward the north [01:03:41] and beheld and behold [01:03:43] there sat women weeping for Tamiz. [01:03:47] Y'all know that's a 40 day time of weeping, [01:03:51] fasting for the God Tamiz. [01:03:54] That's what Lent is. [01:03:56] You Roman Catholics don't even know [01:03:57] that that's what that is. [01:04:02] But Ezekiel 8, 15 through 16, [01:04:05] he said if that wasn't enough [01:04:07] a bunch of women here weeping for Tamiz [01:04:08] in my court. [01:04:12] Then he said unto me hast thou seen [01:04:13] no son of man, turn thee yet again [01:04:15] and thou shalt see greater abominations [01:04:16] than these. [01:04:17] And he brought me into the inner court. [01:04:19] Everybody say inner court. [01:04:23] Of the Lord's house and behold [01:04:24] at the door of the temple of the Lord [01:04:26] between the porch and the altar [01:04:28] were about five and 20 men [01:04:30] with their backs toward the temple of the Lord [01:04:31] and their faces toward the east [01:04:33] and they worshiped the sun toward the east. [01:04:36] They were worshiping the host of heaven [01:04:39] that God told them to ever do that. [01:04:42] Pagan worship, idolatry [01:04:45] in the house of God [01:04:47] meaning that uncleanness, [01:04:50] spiritual uncleanness [01:04:52] was in the house of God. [01:04:54] This is Ezekiel 8. [01:04:57] These give you a little idea [01:04:59] why Jerusalem was destroyed [01:05:01] just the four things here. [01:05:03] There was an idol in the entrance of the temple. [01:05:05] There were 70 elders worshiping reptiles and beasts. [01:05:08] There were women praising Tamiz, [01:05:09] 25 men worshiping the sun. [01:05:11] That's what yoga is. [01:05:12] Yoga, every position in yoga, folks, [01:05:14] is a bow to the sun God. [01:05:16] I don't care if you call it exercise [01:05:17] but they're doing it in churches now [01:05:19] all over the place. [01:05:20] You are worshiping the sun [01:05:25] and it's not the sun of God. [01:05:26] You're worshiping the sun [01:05:27] and it's demonic [01:05:28] and it's opening doorways to demons. [01:05:30] Here's a little schematic that somebody did [01:05:33] showing where these different things were. [01:05:35] The women weeping for Tamiz, [01:05:37] the animal images on the wall, [01:05:38] the 25 men worshiping the sun. [01:05:42] This is just showing you [01:05:43] that God tolerated demonic defilement [01:05:46] in his temple for a long time [01:05:48] before his presence and glory left. [01:05:51] The glory of God leaves in chapter 10. [01:05:57] I mean, we see this. [01:05:59] Ezekiel sees the glory [01:06:01] and the presence of the Lord within his temple [01:06:02] in Ezekiel 8.4. [01:06:04] The glory of God is seen [01:06:05] at the doorway of the temple in 9.3. [01:06:07] He's starting to move out [01:06:09] and the next the doorway moves [01:06:10] and he moves onto the eastern gate. [01:06:12] God leaves. [01:06:13] The presence of God leaves. [01:06:17] You keep on wanting to sin. [01:06:18] You keep on wanting to let your demons [01:06:20] dwell in you and have a heyday in your life. [01:06:23] Eventually, God will leave. [01:06:28] Just ask the story of Esau [01:06:32] in Hebrews 12. [01:06:35] Now let's go to another Old Testament example here. [01:06:39] Everybody see that? [01:06:39] Everybody get the point I was making [01:06:41] with the Temple of Solomon? [01:06:45] Now let's look at this. [01:06:47] Remember Old Testament? [01:06:48] What examples to us? [01:06:50] Types and shadows, right? [01:06:53] This is gonna be a little long today. [01:06:54] We got a little bit more to do. [01:06:57] We're gonna look at Saul here. [01:06:59] This is 1 Samuel 10.1. [01:07:02] It says, then Samuel took a vial of oil [01:07:04] and poured it upon his head, [01:07:05] Saul, who became king Saul of the tribe of Benjamin, [01:07:08] and kissed him and said, [01:07:10] is it not because the Lord hath anointed thee [01:07:12] to be captain over his inheritance? [01:07:14] So Saul is anointed to be king, [01:07:17] handpicked by God to be king, [01:07:19] because he's humble. [01:07:20] In the beginning, he was humble. [01:07:22] Godly young man. [01:07:26] 1 Samuel chapter 10 verses six and nine through 11 [01:07:29] says, then the Spirit of the Lord, [01:07:30] is what Samuel said to him. [01:07:31] And the Spirit of the Lord [01:07:32] will come upon thee and thou shalt prophesy with them [01:07:35] the prophets that he was gonna run into. [01:07:37] Now listen to this. [01:07:38] Samuel says, and thou shalt be turned into another man. [01:07:42] Now folks, if a prophet tells you [01:07:46] that the Holy Spirit is gonna come upon you [01:07:50] and it's gonna turn you into another man, [01:07:52] well, doesn't that sound New Testament? [01:07:54] That sounds New Testament to me. [01:07:56] If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature. [01:07:58] All things have passed away. [01:07:59] Behold, all things become new. [01:08:00] You may all prophesy one by one, as Paul said. [01:08:04] There you go, you become a new man. [01:08:06] Then he goes on and says, and it was so [01:08:08] that when he had turned his back to go from Samuel [01:08:10] that God gave him another heart. [01:08:13] Why doesn't that sound New Testament? [01:08:14] I will give them a new heart. [01:08:18] To know me, says the Lord. [01:08:20] This is good stuff. [01:08:22] So the Spirit of the Lord comes upon Saul. [01:08:25] God turns him into another man, [01:08:26] gives him another heart. [01:08:29] A true type shadow picture of our salvation experience. [01:08:33] Receiving the Holy Spirit as we're saved [01:08:35] and then baptizing the Holy Spirit. [01:08:39] And it says that all those signs came to pass that day [01:08:43] when they came thither to the hill. [01:08:44] Behold, a company of prophets met him [01:08:45] and the Spirit of God came upon him [01:08:47] and Saul prophesied among them. [01:08:49] And it came to pass when all that knew him [01:08:52] before saw that. [01:08:52] They said, behold, he prophesied among the prophets. [01:08:54] Then the people said one to another, [01:08:56] what is this that is coming to the son of Kish? [01:08:58] It's all among the prophets. [01:09:00] It was such a transformation that everybody was, [01:09:05] boy, doesn't that look at somebody? [01:09:06] That's the way it was when I got saved. [01:09:07] Everybody was like, whoa, what has happened to Dean Odell? [01:09:12] He doesn't want to drink beer anymore. [01:09:15] He doesn't want to fight anymore. [01:09:16] He don't want to go to bars anymore. [01:09:20] What has happened? [01:09:22] God turned me into another man and gave me another heart. [01:09:26] Spirit of God came upon me and filled me, [01:09:27] changed my life. [01:09:30] Sounds very similar, doesn't it? [01:09:36] Didn't take very long. [01:09:37] In fact, I've looked at this. [01:09:38] It was about a year later [01:09:41] that Samuel gave Saul a job to do [01:09:43] and he didn't do it, he disobeyed. [01:09:46] And then it was such a serious, now listen to this. [01:09:50] It was to go and destroy the Amalekites. [01:09:53] Listen to me closely on this. [01:09:55] The job he was given was to go kill all the Amalekites, [01:09:58] men, women, children, everything. [01:09:59] Everybody thinks that God is genocidal and that's crazy. [01:10:03] No, the Amalekites were the descendants [01:10:08] of the giants, the Nephilim. [01:10:11] So again, what God is telling Saul to do [01:10:16] is to finish what Israel didn't do a long time ago [01:10:20] and drive out the demons out of their land. [01:10:24] Saul doesn't do it. [01:10:28] There's a lot of people I know I've told [01:10:30] go through deliverance and they don't do it. [01:10:33] Well, that's gonna be on you. [01:10:38] But let's keep reading. [01:10:41] This is 1 Samuel 15.23. [01:10:43] God tells Saul to not do this, [01:10:45] to not deal with your demons, [01:10:47] to not obey, to disobey God and not deal [01:10:49] and drive the demons out of your land. [01:10:51] He goes on to say, [01:10:52] for rebellion is the sin of witchcraft [01:10:55] and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. [01:11:00] You've been told to cleanse your land [01:11:01] but you don't do it. [01:11:05] You're in rebellion [01:11:06] and you might as well be a practicing witch. [01:11:09] And if you're a practicing witch, [01:11:10] what are you doing? [01:11:11] You're opening doors too. [01:11:15] And if you're in idolatry, [01:11:16] you're opening doors too. [01:11:19] Exactly. [01:11:20] For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft [01:11:22] and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry [01:11:24] because thou has rejected the word of the Lord. [01:11:26] He has also rejected thee from being king. [01:11:28] That's pretty serious. [01:11:31] First Samuel 16, [01:11:32] then Samuel took the horn of oil [01:11:33] and anointed him anointing David [01:11:35] when he went to pick the new king. [01:11:38] And the spirit Lord came upon David [01:11:40] from that day forward. [01:11:41] So Samuel rose up and went to Rama. [01:11:43] But the spirit of the Lord departed from Saul [01:11:46] and an evil spirit from the Lord troubled him. [01:11:50] Now some people say, [01:11:51] oh, well he was just oppressed. [01:11:53] Really? [01:11:54] I'd say it's probably a little more [01:11:56] when you start picking up javelins to kill people. [01:11:58] But let's just keep reading. [01:12:00] And it came to pass when the evil spirit [01:12:02] from God was upon Saul [01:12:03] that David took a harp and played with his hand. [01:12:05] And so Saul was refreshed and was well. [01:12:08] And the evil spirit departed from him. [01:12:10] I hate to say that this is what happens. [01:12:11] This is what church is for a lot of folks. [01:12:14] A lot of folks go through all their week [01:12:16] tormented and controlled by demons [01:12:17] because they have so many open doors [01:12:19] and they won't drive them out. [01:12:20] They won't cleanse the house. [01:12:21] They won't cast them out. [01:12:22] They won't deal with sin and the demons. [01:12:24] And so though they'll come to church though [01:12:27] and they'll worship with the music. [01:12:28] They'll worship God. [01:12:29] They'll hear the word of God [01:12:30] and they'll feel a little better. [01:12:32] And then they go back to the same old habits [01:12:36] and issues all week long. [01:12:38] This is what happened. [01:12:39] This is why so many people struggle [01:12:40] with the same things for so long. [01:12:43] And church and worship and religious activity [01:12:46] just becomes kind of a band-aid on a gunshot wound. [01:12:48] It never really fixes it, never really heals it. [01:12:54] First Samuel 18, 10 through 12. [01:12:57] And it says that it came to pass on the morrow [01:13:00] that the evil spirit from God came upon Saul. [01:13:03] And he prophesied in the midst of the house [01:13:04] and David played with his hand as at other times. [01:13:07] And there was a javelin in Saul's hand. [01:13:08] And Saul cast the javelin for he said, [01:13:10] I will smite David even to the wall with it. [01:13:13] And David avoided out of his presence twice [01:13:15] and Saul was afraid of David [01:13:17] because the Lord was with him and was departed from Saul. [01:13:21] See, this is a picture folks. [01:13:25] If it's a type in shadow [01:13:27] when Saul was turned into another man, [01:13:28] given another heart and the Holy Spirit came upon him [01:13:30] and the gifts of the spirit began to work through him. [01:13:32] But because he wouldn't deal with the Amalekites, [01:13:36] the demons, the descendants of the giants, [01:13:39] he wouldn't deal with that. [01:13:40] Guess what? [01:13:42] He became afflicted, tormented and possessed [01:13:44] and controlled by one of their spirits, [01:13:48] one of the evil spirits. [01:13:51] So much so that he had hatred and fear and murder, [01:14:00] not just in his mind and in his heart, [01:14:01] but he was acting upon them. [01:14:07] Come on, Christian. [01:14:09] One thing if it's in your mind and your heart, [01:14:11] that's bad enough. [01:14:12] But if you're acting on it already, [01:14:15] you're being controlled. [01:14:18] You're being controlled. [01:14:20] Better get free. [01:14:22] Where did King Saul end up? [01:14:25] Right before his death, [01:14:27] God would not speak to him anymore. [01:14:29] Don't tell me I can't hear from God. [01:14:30] I don't hear from God. [01:14:32] Maybe you need to repent. [01:14:34] Maybe you need to get rid of the demons [01:14:35] that are blocking you from hearing God. [01:14:38] This is why people end up in occult stuff. [01:14:42] Horoscopes, Ouija boards, fortune tellers. [01:14:45] God's not talking to him. [01:14:46] Let me tell you, if Jesus is talking to you [01:14:48] and Jesus said, my sheep will hear my voice. [01:14:51] They will know me. [01:14:52] I know my sheep. [01:14:52] They'll hear my voice. [01:14:53] They'll follow me. [01:14:54] Holy Spirit will come. [01:14:55] He'll speak to you. [01:14:56] He'll show you things to come. [01:14:57] If he's not, something's wrong. [01:15:00] Something is wrong. [01:15:04] And then what people do to fill that spiritual void [01:15:06] when God's not talking to him and ministering to him, [01:15:08] what they'll do is they end up with, you know, [01:15:10] horoscopes and Ouija boards and yoga and everything else. [01:15:14] Meditation, Buddhist meditation, [01:15:16] blanking the mind, chanting, ohm [01:15:18] and all this stuff they do. [01:15:20] That's why so many Christians are substituting. [01:15:23] I mean, we know Christians, my wife and I, [01:15:25] we know Christians that are going back to [01:15:27] like the Greek Orthodox and Russian Orthodox Church [01:15:30] because they've got this idolatry [01:15:32] to worship icons and statues [01:15:34] and they have a spiritual experience. [01:15:35] Well, why are they hungering after [01:15:37] an idolatrous pagan experience? [01:15:40] It's because the Holy Spirit is not talking to them [01:15:43] because at some point they chose to disobey [01:15:46] and they won't deal with the demon strongholds in them. [01:15:48] And so it's a snare to them. [01:15:52] You will end up, [01:15:54] a lot of people end up after this, they end up dead. [01:15:58] I'm convinced to this day that my mom, [01:16:02] before she got saved, my mom, [01:16:03] I led my mom to the Lord in 1987, [01:16:05] December, right after Christmas, 1987, [01:16:08] I led my mom to the Lord. [01:16:10] Well, 1986, my mom went to the doctor feeling fine [01:16:15] and they found a tumor the size of my fist in her chest. [01:16:19] She had Hodgkin's, had cancer and it was so serious. [01:16:24] They said had she waited just a few weeks longer, [01:16:26] she would have been dead [01:16:27] because it would have went through her whole body. [01:16:30] So my mom had to have chemotherapy, radiation [01:16:33] and this is before I'm following the Lord, [01:16:35] she's not following the Lord, [01:16:36] she's drinking and partying and smoking [01:16:38] and just living like a haven. [01:16:42] Well, why am I getting to this? [01:16:45] I'm convinced, cancer does not run in my family. [01:16:48] So it wasn't a hereditary thing. [01:16:50] And I thought, why did, I thought a long time ago, [01:16:53] I said, why did my mom get cancer [01:16:55] and nearly die from cancer? [01:16:56] And the Lord spoke to me [01:16:58] and said that from the time I was a little boy, [01:17:01] even before we lived in California, [01:17:04] I lived in California when I was in third grade for a year, [01:17:08] but I remember my mom and my aunt, my uncle, [01:17:12] who was a cop right outside of San Francisco, [01:17:15] I remember the two of them constantly [01:17:18] when we lived in California, [01:17:19] going to fortune tellers and mediums. [01:17:24] And then I remember, [01:17:25] my mom even got a word of prophecy [01:17:29] from a fortune teller [01:17:31] that basically she would divorce my dad [01:17:32] and marry someone that they described [01:17:35] and it was eventually became described in detail. [01:17:38] My stepdad, that was never supposed to happen. [01:17:41] And I am convinced that my mom opened the door [01:17:46] to this demon of cancer and death in her life [01:17:52] because of her continual disobedience. [01:17:54] Now she got to say, [01:17:55] she went through chemotherapy and radiation [01:17:57] and my aunts, my great aunts and my great grandmother, [01:17:59] I've told the story, they prayed for her. [01:18:01] Sometimes my grandma would stay up all night [01:18:03] interceding for God to have mercy upon her [01:18:06] and heal her that she would not die. [01:18:09] But my mom, oh, she loved horoscopes and psychics [01:18:15] and mediums and honestly, [01:18:18] we never, I never, even though I talked to her about it, [01:18:20] she would never, after she got saved, [01:18:23] and she got saved and she started walking with the Lord, [01:18:25] she didn't do that stuff anymore, [01:18:26] but she would never deal with the demons in her life. [01:18:29] And I believe that's another reason [01:18:30] that we lost her early there and then we should. [01:18:32] But I know she made it to heaven, [01:18:37] but not a good situation. [01:18:42] Now let's go to this story. [01:18:44] Matthew 15, verses 21 through 24, [01:18:49] I'm almost at the end today. [01:18:50] We're almost there. [01:18:52] I hope you guys can stay with me there watching. [01:18:56] It's important. [01:18:57] We're going back to the New Testament here. [01:18:58] This is the story of the Canaanite woman [01:19:00] or the Syrophoenician woman that came to Jesus [01:19:04] asking for deliverance for her daughter, [01:19:06] for demons to be cast out of her daughter. [01:19:07] Now let's read this. [01:19:08] Matthew 15, 21 through 24, [01:19:11] then Jesus went thence and departed [01:19:13] into the coast of Tyre and Sidon. [01:19:15] This is two cities of pagan, heathen, [01:19:20] not Israelites, outside the covenant, Gentiles. [01:19:24] And says, behold, a woman of Canaan [01:19:25] came out of the same coast and cried unto them saying, [01:19:28] have mercy on me, oh Lord, the son of David. [01:19:31] My daughter is grievously vexed with the devil. [01:19:35] But he answered her not a word. [01:19:40] This story better get your attention. [01:19:44] What is this woman asking for? [01:19:48] Deliverance. [01:19:49] She's asking for Jesus to cast the demons [01:19:52] out of her daughter. [01:19:54] She's begging him, have mercy on me, son of David. [01:19:57] She's even recognizing that he is the Messiah. [01:20:01] Have mercy, help us. [01:20:04] Now for those out there that think, oh yeah, [01:20:08] cast demons out of the unsaid, not what Jesus did. [01:20:12] Remember Jesus, this is before the cross, [01:20:14] before the resurrection. [01:20:15] Jesus is operating under the old covenant. [01:20:18] So he doesn't answer her a word. [01:20:21] Because what does Jesus know? [01:20:23] I can't do this. [01:20:24] And probably his heart was torn [01:20:26] because he wants to help the woman. [01:20:28] But he can't because if he casts the demons [01:20:30] out of her daughter, she's gonna end up worse. [01:20:33] What he's gotta do is get this woman saved. [01:20:35] And that's why he ignores her. [01:20:38] It's amazing if God, a lot of times God ignores people [01:20:41] so they'll get desperate and really seek him. [01:20:43] A lot of times we're just seeking him [01:20:45] for relief from our problem. [01:20:46] He wants us to seek him until we're saved, [01:20:49] until we're born again, until we repent. [01:20:52] Not just until he fixes our problem. [01:20:55] Amen. [01:20:57] So he didn't answer a word and his disciples came [01:21:00] and besought him saying, send her away. [01:21:02] She cried after us. [01:21:04] And then Jesus said this statement. [01:21:06] But he answered and said, I am not sent [01:21:08] but into the lost sheep of the house of Israel. [01:21:11] So what he's saying was, I can't do these things, [01:21:15] especially deliverance, casting out, [01:21:17] unless you are in Israelite, [01:21:18] unless you are under the blood covenant, [01:21:20] unless you are a child of God, [01:21:21] I cannot do this for you. [01:21:25] Everybody see that. [01:21:30] But this woman changes the equation. [01:21:38] So she went from just asking for her need to be met. [01:21:43] A lot of people just want Jesus to help him. [01:21:45] Help him out of a financial situation. [01:21:47] Help him out of a sickness. [01:21:48] Help him out of a jam of the kids. [01:21:53] But Jesus doesn't answer her word. [01:21:54] He's gonna find out. [01:21:55] I'm gonna find out how sincere she is. [01:21:58] I'm gonna find out if she wants me for me. [01:21:59] So I'm gonna keep walking. [01:22:05] Listen, sometimes I do that. [01:22:06] Sometimes I ignore people. [01:22:07] Just see if they'll pursue it. [01:22:10] I have people all the time saying, [01:22:11] I want you to disciple me. [01:22:12] Okay, you know what I do? [01:22:15] Just keep walking. [01:22:16] I'll see if they wanna be discipled. [01:22:17] They'll start following. [01:22:19] They'll start pestering me and asking questions. [01:22:22] And you know, I'm not gonna chase them after them. [01:22:28] But then came she and worshiped him, [01:22:30] saying Lord help me. [01:22:31] She worshiped him. [01:22:32] Now what, her worshiping him. [01:22:34] See, she says have mercy on me son of David. [01:22:36] That's easy. [01:22:37] We can say, oh okay Jesus, [01:22:39] you're the son of David. [01:22:39] You're a descendant. [01:22:40] You're a man. [01:22:41] I can acknowledge that you're the man part of the Messiah. [01:22:45] But when she comes in, she worships him. [01:22:47] Only God is to be worshiped. [01:22:51] And she worships him. [01:22:53] And that's the point where she is declaring, [01:22:55] okay, I submit, you are God. [01:22:58] You're the creator. [01:23:01] I'm gonna worship you. [01:23:03] You ignored me. [01:23:05] You know, a lot of women would get their panties in a wad [01:23:07] and get upset. [01:23:09] And yes, I said it. [01:23:12] Worst thing you can do to a woman [01:23:13] that's got an attitude is ignore her. [01:23:17] They actually want you to fuss, right? [01:23:19] That's the worst thing you can do. [01:23:25] Women hate being ignored. [01:23:27] I'd rather talk for 12 hours, [01:23:29] not be ignored though. [01:23:33] But this woman didn't get offended. [01:23:36] See, this is the key. [01:23:38] She didn't get offended with Jesus. [01:23:40] Gave her an opportunity though. [01:23:43] He's kept walking. [01:23:46] And then she comes and she worships him. [01:23:47] She says, okay Lord, you're God. [01:23:49] I worship you. [01:23:50] You know what's best. [01:23:52] Even though you ignored me, I'm still here. [01:23:54] Somebody says, some of you, you give up too soon. [01:23:58] You don't get God to answer you the first time you ask [01:24:00] or you give up. [01:24:03] Oh, God's not answering my prayer. [01:24:05] No, he didn't want to see persistence. [01:24:08] Well, this'll preach all day long. [01:24:11] But Jesus made a statement that's probably one [01:24:13] of the most important in the New Testament [01:24:16] concerning the deliverance ministry. [01:24:19] He answered and said to her, it is not meat [01:24:22] or it is not right to take the children's bread [01:24:26] and cast it to dogs. [01:24:29] Oh, good Lord, he just went from it. [01:24:32] One offending action to an offending statement. [01:24:36] These snowflakes today would have a meltdown. [01:24:43] He said, it's not right to take the children's bread. [01:24:45] What are we discussing in the entire context [01:24:48] of this passage? [01:24:49] Deliverance for her daughter, [01:24:51] the casting of demons out of her daughter. [01:24:54] And Jesus calls the deliverance ministry, [01:24:57] casting demons out of people, the children's bread. [01:25:03] It doesn't belong to the unsafe. [01:25:05] It's not for them. [01:25:07] You could give it to them and they can't even maintain it. [01:25:12] He said, deliverance is for the children's bread. [01:25:15] It's the children's bread. [01:25:17] Don't give it to the unsafe. [01:25:18] They can't keep the demons out. [01:25:22] And she said, truth, Lord. [01:25:25] And the word dogs, and let me back up. [01:25:27] The word dogs was a term used for the Gentiles. [01:25:29] Those outside the covenant. [01:25:31] So Jesus said, I can't take the children's bread, [01:25:33] deliverance, the casting out of demons, [01:25:35] and give it to those outside the covenant. [01:25:38] Can't do it. [01:25:40] Not because he doesn't want to, it just wouldn't work. [01:25:49] And she said, truth, Lord. [01:25:50] Well, I love that. [01:25:53] The best thing to do when God tells you something [01:25:55] in the scriptures, or he speaks to you, [01:25:56] they say, yeah, you're right. [01:25:59] Truth. [01:26:01] Then she says this, yet the dogs eat of the crumbs [01:26:03] which fall from their master's table. [01:26:06] Meaning, I'll just take the crumbs. [01:26:14] Humility. [01:26:16] Not allowing yourself to get offended and upset at God. [01:26:19] So many people are upset at God. [01:26:21] They're not upset at preachers, they're upset at God. [01:26:26] Then Jesus answered and said unto her, [01:26:29] woman, great is thy faith. [01:26:32] Can I say that Jesus never said this [01:26:35] about his own apostles? [01:26:39] He said, oh, woman, great is thy faith. [01:26:41] And what does it take to be saved? [01:26:43] Grace and faith. [01:26:47] So at the moment this great faith brought her, [01:26:50] what faith is she talking about? [01:26:51] Faith in him. [01:26:53] Faith in his wisdom. [01:26:55] Faith that he is God, she worshiped him. [01:26:59] And he says, woman, great is thy faith. [01:27:01] So that moment, that Gentile woman [01:27:03] went from being outside the covenant [01:27:05] to in the covenant by faith. [01:27:09] Because remember, even Ruth the Moabitez [01:27:11] decided that she was not gonna be a Moabitez anymore. [01:27:14] She was gonna come in to the faith of the Jews. [01:27:19] And her action was leaving her people [01:27:21] and leaving her idols and leaving her gods [01:27:22] and going with Naomi into the land of the Jews [01:27:25] even in the time of famine. [01:27:29] He says, great is thy faith. [01:27:30] Be it unto thee, even as thou wilt [01:27:32] and her daughter was made whole from that very hour. [01:27:37] The difference is the children's bread. [01:27:42] It is for Christians, born again Christians [01:27:44] who are really living the life and for them only. [01:27:48] Now there are, I said last week, [01:27:49] there's a couple of exceptions [01:27:51] where I will cast demons out of an unsaved person. [01:27:54] And they're extreme exception. [01:27:57] Number one is if a person is completely demon possessed [01:28:01] like the Gatorine Demoniac, fully manifesting, [01:28:03] not in their right man, you can't even talk to them. [01:28:07] I will cast the demons out of them [01:28:10] so that they can get a moment of sanity [01:28:12] and freedom and peace to hopefully accept Jesus. [01:28:15] I've done that for people [01:28:17] and they've chosen to not accept Jesus [01:28:18] and they have gone back into worse. [01:28:22] But that should be very, very rare. [01:28:27] And then of course I've done it for children. [01:28:30] Children you can pray over. [01:28:33] You just have to have the parent's permission [01:28:35] and the parent's faith. [01:28:39] You say, well that child's not saved yet. [01:28:41] Well child, until they reach the age of accountability, [01:28:43] they're innocent and they are under God's salvation [01:28:45] and under his covenant. [01:28:46] So you can cast demons out of small children [01:28:48] but you have to have their parent's permission and faith. [01:28:53] Other than those two exceptions, [01:28:57] you do not cast demons out of an unsaved person. [01:29:02] I fought this battle for a long time. [01:29:04] Let me give you one more picture and then we'll go. [01:29:07] And again, that's why it says [01:29:08] when the unclean spirit's gone out of a man, [01:29:11] he walked through dry places seeking rest. [01:29:13] He finally done his side, returned to my house [01:29:15] and the house is empty, swept in garden. [01:29:17] You just can't do it. [01:29:19] You cast demons out of somebody and the house is empty. [01:29:22] He's coming back with seven more. [01:29:24] But look at the story of Lazarus [01:29:26] and I'm gonna finish with this one. [01:29:29] If you want another picture of deliverance. [01:29:41] Lazarus was made alive but he was still bound. [01:29:43] Let's read this, John 11 41 through 44. [01:29:45] Then took, they away the stone. [01:29:47] Jesus told him, take away the stone. [01:29:50] Lazarus had been dead four days. [01:29:53] He says, they took away the stone [01:29:54] from the place where the dead was laid [01:29:55] and Jesus lifted up his eyes and said, [01:29:57] Father I thank thee that thou has heard me [01:29:59] and I knew that thou hears me always. [01:30:01] But because of the people which stand by I said it [01:30:04] that they may believe that thou has sent me. [01:30:07] And when he had thus spoken, he cried with a loud voice, [01:30:09] Lazarus come forth. [01:30:11] And he that was dead came forth bound hand and foot [01:30:15] with grave clothes and his face was bound about [01:30:18] with a napkin and Jesus saith to them, [01:30:20] Loose him and let him go. [01:30:22] Well, if you ever had a picture of salvation [01:30:25] but then the need for deliverance, [01:30:27] you have it in this story. [01:30:28] Now this story was real. [01:30:30] This was an actual story, this was an actual event. [01:30:32] But Jesus again, he was always teaching. [01:30:34] There's always multiple layers of teaching and illustration. [01:30:38] So Jesus comes in, the guy's dead. [01:30:40] Doesn't the Bible say in Ephesians two [01:30:42] that we are dead in trespasses and sins before we get saved. [01:30:45] And what happens at salvation is literally our dead spirit [01:30:48] that's separated from the life of God. [01:30:51] When we believe the gospel, when we believe the cross, [01:30:54] when we believe the blood, [01:30:55] when we believe the resurrection, [01:30:56] it says the Holy Spirit comes in and we are quickened. [01:30:59] We are made alive, spiritually alive. [01:31:02] We're reconnected with God. [01:31:05] So salvation is a resurrection of a dead spirit [01:31:09] that's separated from God. [01:31:10] It's resurrected to life and the life of Christ comes in. [01:31:15] But so many, just like Lazarus, [01:31:17] Lazarus came out of the grave. [01:31:18] Listen, he didn't walk out of there. [01:31:20] Think about this folks, the power of God. [01:31:22] When Jesus said, Lazarus come forth, [01:31:23] Lazarus was bound up like a mummy. [01:31:26] He didn't walk out of there. [01:31:27] He didn't hop out of there. [01:31:29] The power of God that raised him from the dead [01:31:32] through Jesus' words, [01:31:34] literally not only raised him back to life [01:31:37] and caused his decomposing body to be made new, [01:31:40] it snatched him out of that grave [01:31:42] and stood him up in front of the grave. [01:31:47] Now you would say, okay, [01:31:49] if the power of God's that strong [01:31:50] to raise him from the dead, [01:31:52] to fix his decomposing body [01:31:53] and give him a new body again [01:31:57] and to snatch him out of the grave, stand it up. [01:32:01] Why didn't Jesus just snatch the grave clothes off? [01:32:04] Why didn't Jesus just go poof, grave clothes gone? [01:32:08] Teaching you a lesson, teaching me a lesson. [01:32:12] He tells the people standing beside, [01:32:15] loose him and let him go. [01:32:21] He saved, he's alive, he's resurrected. [01:32:25] He's made new, but he's still bound up. [01:32:31] That's Christians right there. [01:32:33] So, so many. [01:32:35] If you've never been through a thorough deliverance process [01:32:39] and dealt with all of your pasts from childhood on up, [01:32:43] every single sin, every single doorway, [01:32:47] then this is you. [01:32:50] You might be saved, you might be born again, [01:32:52] you might be alive in Christ, [01:32:55] but you're still bound by Satan, by demons, [01:33:00] by the grave clothes of death. [01:33:06] I hope today I've answered your questions. [01:33:10] Can a Christian have a demon? [01:33:11] Absolutely. [01:33:13] As I heard one preacher years ago say, [01:33:15] a Christian can have whatever they like. [01:33:19] You want more of God, you can have that. [01:33:22] You want healing, you can have that. [01:33:24] You want freedom, you can have that, [01:33:25] but there's a way you gotta walk to get it. [01:33:27] There's things you have to do, [01:33:28] there's a place you have to go, [01:33:29] there's scriptures you have to get in you, [01:33:31] there's things you have to speak, [01:33:32] there's things you have to believe, [01:33:33] there's actions you gotta take. [01:33:36] Christianity is not sitting a passive thing. [01:33:40] You don't just sit there and do nothing. [01:33:43] So, I think I've covered enough today, don't you think? [01:33:53] Well, Pastor Dean, you know, [01:33:55] if you missed last week, folks, [01:33:57] go back and listen to last week. [01:33:59] This week, I can't cover everything. [01:34:01] I've done an hour and a half. [01:34:04] I can't cover everything. [01:34:05] Next week, we're gonna cover the doorways, [01:34:09] the openings, the things that we open, [01:34:12] and I'm gonna give you a lot of examples, [01:34:15] and I'm gonna go through the process [01:34:16] of how to do deliverance, [01:34:17] and a lot of you are not gonna be able [01:34:19] to find someone to help you, [01:34:20] so you're gonna have to do self deliverance, [01:34:22] and we'll talk about all of that, [01:34:24] but this is so vitally important [01:34:26] that we learn how to fight demons [01:34:28] and get free from them. [01:34:29] I tell people all the time, [01:34:31] going through deliverance is not the answer [01:34:33] to all your problems. [01:34:34] You're still going to have the flesh to deal with. [01:34:36] You're still going to have the demons [01:34:38] attacking and tempting you from the outside, [01:34:41] but you know, I'm an old fighter. [01:34:42] Trey, you know about this. [01:34:44] Old street fighter. [01:34:47] Now, let me say, this is why we always used to say, [01:34:49] let's take this outside, [01:34:53] because if it was inside and it really got on, [01:34:56] it was gonna tear up all kind of stuff, right? [01:34:59] Well, let me tell you, [01:35:01] any fight you're gonna have, [01:35:02] if you're gonna fight demons, [01:35:04] it's a lot better that they be outside your house [01:35:07] than in your house. [01:35:09] Makes the fight a whole lot easier. [01:35:11] Still a fight, mind you, [01:35:15] but fighting them outside of your temple [01:35:19] is better than trying to fight them constantly inside, [01:35:23] because they're hiding in closets and under the beds [01:35:25] and you think you got one whip and it jumps out. [01:35:34] Well, I hope you learned something. [01:35:34] We're gonna sing a song before we leave this one, I hope. [01:35:39] We don't have the words. [01:35:41] That's all right. [01:35:43] If you don't know the words, [01:35:44] you just worship for a minute. [01:35:46] Fair use, Facebook, fair use, YouTube. [01:35:48] We claim fair use, [01:35:50] but this song is a good song to close out the day. [01:35:53] This is Zach Williams and is it Song of Deliverance? [01:35:59] Huh? [01:36:00] Songs of Deliverance. [01:36:02] So let's stand and sing this and worship the Lord [01:36:04] and then we'll be dismissed this morning. [01:36:08] Those of you watching and listening, [01:36:09] sing along with us. [01:36:10] You may know it. [01:36:11] It's an easy song to catch on to, [01:36:13] but it's just talking about getting free in Jesus' name. [01:36:17] Amen? [01:36:59] Just forget it. [01:37:00] I don't know what in the world's going on. [01:37:01] That's horrible. [01:37:09] They'll be able to please you today. [01:39:57] We thank you, Lord, for deliverance. [01:40:00] We thank you for freedom [01:40:02] that we can find in the name of Jesus [01:40:04] and through walking into your word [01:40:07] and doing what you instruct us to do. [01:40:10] While I ask you to bless your people, [01:40:11] those that have been watching and listening, [01:40:13] those that are here today, Lord, [01:40:14] we thank you that we can be delivered and set free, [01:40:18] that there is hope for Christians out there struggling. [01:40:23] There's hope and there's a way. [01:40:26] So we thank you for it in Jesus' name we pray. [01:40:29] Amen and amen. [01:40:31] All right, before we dismiss this morning, [01:40:33] just a couple of announcements.
