[00:00:00] God, we thank You for the simple gospel of Jesus Christ. [00:00:04] Lord, we thank You, Lord, for justification by faith. [00:00:09] We thank You, Lord, for grace and mercy. [00:00:13] We thank You, Lord, for righteousness without the law. [00:00:17] We thank You, Lord, that Your Word is true, [00:00:20] that the New Testament, the New Covenant, [00:00:22] is a better covenant with better promises. [00:00:24] That's what Your Word declares. [00:00:26] I pray today, God, that You will illustrate this, [00:00:29] that You will speak through me, [00:00:31] that You will speak to those here, [00:00:34] those watching, those listening, [00:00:36] those who will see this after the fact. [00:00:39] God, we ask You, Lord, to reestablish the New Covenant, [00:00:44] the New Testament faith, the foundation of that. [00:00:49] Lord, that You establish that in this world, Lord, [00:00:52] in this time of great deception. [00:00:57] Father, we ask You to bless, anoint, help us, [00:01:02] to understand our liberty in Christ, [00:01:04] but that our liberty is not a license to sin [00:01:08] or to do the works of the flesh. [00:01:11] So, Lord, we thank You for that. [00:01:14] We pray it all today in the name of Jesus. [00:01:16] Amen. [00:01:18] Amen. [00:01:19] You may be seated this morning. [00:01:20] We welcome everyone here to Fire and Grace Church. [00:01:23] Those watching and listening are still having another, [00:01:28] for those of you with the radio, [00:01:29] we won't be able to broadcast video live this morning, [00:01:33] but we're gonna make a good recording [00:01:35] and get that on Facebook and YouTube as soon as possible. [00:01:39] So, this is gonna be part two of, [00:01:43] I guess, a series dealing with the question, [00:01:46] are Christians born again, Spirit-filled, [00:01:51] New Testament Christians required to keep the law of Moses? [00:01:58] And I dealt with that last week, [00:01:59] a good bit of called it the New Testament church [00:02:02] and the Sabbath question. [00:02:05] I think we dealt with that pretty thoroughly. [00:02:06] It's been interesting to see the responses [00:02:11] that I have received from that. [00:02:14] But of course, I like disagreement and debate. [00:02:19] I know some people think I don't like it, [00:02:20] but I actually like it. [00:02:21] I actually enjoy it because what happens [00:02:24] when somebody debates me or disagrees with me, [00:02:27] it just makes me study, [00:02:29] go back and study the Bible more, [00:02:31] go back and look at it and test. [00:02:33] And that's what you should do anyway. [00:02:35] If you ever have a critic or someone disagree with you [00:02:39] or someone challenges what you believe, [00:02:42] you should always go back, [00:02:45] especially when it comes to Scripture, [00:02:47] when it comes back to doctrine and theology, [00:02:49] we should always go back and study the Word [00:02:52] and say, is there something I've missed? [00:02:53] Is there something I'm overlooking? [00:02:55] Is there something I'm emphasizing [00:02:57] that I'm not supposed to be emphasizing [00:02:59] and God wants me focused in another area? [00:03:02] So, I wanna tell you something. [00:03:03] A lot of people get kind of nasty out there, [00:03:07] but I can assure you after 30 years [00:03:10] of being in the ministry and doing this, [00:03:12] I have studied these issues. [00:03:14] It's not like I haven't looked into it. [00:03:17] I mean, these people make these sarcastic, [00:03:20] condescending comments. [00:03:22] You should really look into this. [00:03:24] Well, I've looked into it a few times. [00:03:26] In fact, I wrote a book years ago. [00:03:28] My first book was entitled Grace Abuse. [00:03:32] One of the greatest hindrances to genuine revival. [00:03:35] And on the back, the title on the back of the book, [00:03:39] the heading at the top says, [00:03:40] Grace is not a license to sin. [00:03:42] So, I wrote an entire book saying [00:03:45] that New Testament believers who are saved [00:03:49] by grace through faith do not have a license to sin [00:03:53] because of grace. [00:03:55] And the Bible spells that out [00:03:56] as we're gonna see in Galatians chapter five [00:03:58] and Ephesians five and so forth. [00:04:02] But because we are commanded in the New Testament, [00:04:06] we are commanded to have a moral life. [00:04:10] Are we commanded to keep the law of Moses? [00:04:13] And what I mean by the law of Moses, [00:04:15] the Saturday Sabbath, the feast, the dietary laws, [00:04:20] are we required to keep as many of those laws [00:04:23] and ceremonies and rituals as we possibly can? [00:04:28] Now, this morning I've entitled this message, [00:04:33] the school master, the bond woman, and the dead husband. [00:04:36] And this is an illustrated message. [00:04:38] So, we're gonna have three different illustrations [00:04:41] to illustrate that point. [00:04:42] And I've got some folks that are gonna help me do that [00:04:44] in just a minute. [00:04:46] But let me just say this [00:04:47] for some of the critics out there [00:04:49] and some of the people who, [00:04:51] some of what I call the Torah observers [00:04:53] or the Torah terrorists pushing this on Christians [00:04:57] and really even to the point of, [00:05:02] one of the leaders even said the other day, [00:05:04] and I have the screenshot, so I have the evidence. [00:05:09] But they were kind of, [00:05:11] they're supposed to be a New Testament Christian [00:05:13] following Jesus or Yeshua. [00:05:16] And yet they said in a derogatory manner, [00:05:19] the so-called New Covenant. [00:05:22] I thought to myself, what minister of the gospel, [00:05:27] what leader would call the New Covenant so-called? [00:05:34] I'm just blown away at the depths of this stuff here. [00:05:38] But the terms, now listen to me as we get into this, [00:05:40] I want you to understand that these are terms, [00:05:43] those who desire to be under the law, [00:05:46] Paul did say, if you desire to be under the law, [00:05:50] then you are under the curse. [00:05:51] That is what Paul said. [00:05:53] I didn't say that. [00:05:54] See, it's funny, some of these guys out there [00:05:55] and these people are saying, [00:05:57] these pastors that say this, no, I didn't say that. [00:06:00] And I'm gonna show you. [00:06:01] We're gonna go through a lot of scripture this morning. [00:06:03] Trust me, this one's gonna be a doozy, all right? [00:06:07] But terms like, listen to this, [00:06:08] you're gonna see these terms in scripture, [00:06:10] righteousness without the law. [00:06:14] Think about that term. [00:06:16] Righteousness without the law. [00:06:20] No flesh will be justified by the law. [00:06:24] Paul said, I am dead to the law. [00:06:27] I am delivered from the law. [00:06:30] I am not under the law. [00:06:32] I mean, these are phrases he uses again and again and again [00:06:37] in reference to the law of Moses and the old covenant. [00:06:41] Folks, the hints, we call it the old covenant. [00:06:43] Now, do we learn from it? [00:06:45] Do we understand our foundation, our heritage, our history? [00:06:48] Did it foretell the coming of Christ and the Messiah [00:06:51] and his atoning death and his resurrection [00:06:54] and where he would be born? [00:06:56] Yes, it is a foundation that we build upon. [00:07:01] But we build upon that foundation [00:07:03] and we live in the new covenant house. [00:07:09] I don't have to go back and re-dig the foundation. [00:07:11] I don't go back and lay on the slab of the foundation. [00:07:15] The house, the new house. [00:07:17] And it talks about this in Hebrews 3. [00:07:18] It talks about what Moses built [00:07:20] and it talks about the house Christ Jesus built. [00:07:24] Amen? [00:07:26] We are in the new covenant, not the old. [00:07:30] Now, here's a verse of scripture we're gonna go [00:07:33] and I just wanna read this [00:07:34] because this is Paul's first missionary journey, [00:07:40] not the first place he preached, [00:07:42] but this is his first missionary journey. [00:07:44] He had several. [00:07:46] And this is an excerpt of Paul's sermon [00:07:48] in the Jewish synagogue in Antioch. [00:07:51] Now, listen to what he says here. [00:07:52] He's in the Jewish synagogue, folks. [00:07:56] And they just got through, if you read the passage, [00:07:58] the scriptures before the synagogue, [00:08:00] the rabbi just got through reading [00:08:03] the law and the prophets, it says. [00:08:05] And then the rabbi says, [00:08:06] if anybody has a word of exhortation, let him stand up. [00:08:10] So the apostle Paul stands up, Barnabas is with him [00:08:15] and he preaches the gospel, [00:08:17] the simple gospel of Jesus Christ. [00:08:20] Not the Messiah would come. [00:08:23] He wouldn't die, but he would be resurrected [00:08:25] and through him is the forgiveness of sins. [00:08:27] And this is what he says here. [00:08:28] I just wanna take this excerpt [00:08:29] because I want you to see what he was preaching. [00:08:31] This is what Paul was preaching in the Jewish synagogue. [00:08:37] But he whom God raised again saw no corruption, [00:08:43] talking about Jesus being raised from the dead [00:08:44] that he didn't see corruption. [00:08:46] Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, [00:08:49] that through this man is preached unto you [00:08:52] the forgiveness of sins and by him, that is Jesus, [00:08:56] and by him all that believe are justified from all things [00:09:02] from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses. [00:09:08] So Paul's preaching in the Jewish synagogue [00:09:10] and he's saying, guess what? [00:09:13] Through Jesus, you are justified. [00:09:15] Now the word justified means to be made right with God, [00:09:21] to be in right standing with God, [00:09:24] to have received forgiveness of sins, redemption, [00:09:28] meaning God has forgiven you all trespasses, [00:09:31] the blood has washed you, [00:09:33] and you stand before God righteous [00:09:35] because of what you have believed, [00:09:38] not because you have been keeping the law of Moses. [00:09:43] And I'm gonna say this also, [00:09:45] the word justified is we're gonna see in just a second, [00:09:48] the word justified also implies that you're saying, [00:09:52] because there's some people out there say, [00:09:54] well, I don't believe it's for salvation, [00:09:56] the law of Moses, they're trying to keep the law, [00:09:59] but I believe that it's fruit of that. [00:10:01] Well, in fact, the Bible says this is not even [00:10:04] justification, that's not even the proof [00:10:07] that you are saved, all right? [00:10:11] But I'm gonna show you this. [00:10:12] Let's look at the word here. [00:10:15] But this is Romans 3, 20 through 28. [00:10:18] So let's look at this. [00:10:20] Paul writes, therefore, by the deeds of the law, [00:10:23] he's talking about the law of Moses, [00:10:25] there shall no flesh be justified in his sight, [00:10:28] for by the law is the knowledge of sin. [00:10:32] But now, he's talking about now the time that, [00:10:36] because Jesus died on the cross for our sins, [00:10:38] paid the price, fulfilled the law, [00:10:41] fulfilled all the requirements of the law. [00:10:44] He says, but now the righteousness of God [00:10:46] without the law is manifested or revealed, [00:10:49] being witnessed by the law and the prophets, [00:10:51] even the righteousness of God, [00:10:53] which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all [00:10:56] and upon all of them that believe, [00:10:58] for there is no difference. [00:11:00] So I wanna say this here first, [00:11:01] this phrase right here, [00:11:03] but now the righteousness of God without the law. [00:11:07] Everybody say that with me. [00:11:08] Without the law, without the law. [00:11:16] The righteousness of God that we walk in now [00:11:20] is without or outside the law of Moses. [00:11:25] That's why it is no longer required [00:11:27] that we keep Sabbaths, feasts, new moons, [00:11:32] sacrifices, blood sacrifices, animal sacrifices. [00:11:36] That's why we don't have to go to a temple. [00:11:38] That's why we don't need the Levitical priesthood. [00:11:40] That's why we don't, you ladies better be glad [00:11:44] because when you go through your time of the month, [00:11:46] you'd have to be pretty much set apart. [00:11:48] And anything you touched or set on [00:11:50] would be considered unclean for seven days. [00:11:53] So there's a lot of things in there [00:11:55] that you better be glad that we're free from. [00:12:00] But he says here that through the deeds of the law, [00:12:03] that means I'm telling you, [00:12:04] if you keep the Sabbath on Saturday, [00:12:06] the feast, the new moons, [00:12:08] none of that justifies you, makes you righteous, [00:12:13] makes you right with God, makes you more right with God [00:12:15] or his fruit that you are saved. [00:12:18] None of it. [00:12:20] The righteousness of God now is without the law. [00:12:24] It has been revealed. [00:12:25] Even the righteousness of God [00:12:27] that is by faith of Jesus Christ. [00:12:30] He says, for all have sinned [00:12:31] and come short of the glory of God [00:12:33] being justified freely by his grace [00:12:36] through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, [00:12:39] whom God set forth to be the propitiation, [00:12:41] that's a fancy word to mean the sacrifice, [00:12:44] the atoning sacrifice for our sin, [00:12:47] that God set forth Jesus to be the propitiation [00:12:51] through faith in his blood to declare his righteousness [00:12:55] for the remission of sins that are passed [00:12:57] through the forbearance of God [00:12:59] to declare, I say at this time, his righteousness [00:13:01] that he might be just and the justifier of him [00:13:04] that believeth in Jesus. [00:13:06] Where is boasting then? [00:13:07] It is excluded by what law of works name, [00:13:11] but by the law of faith. [00:13:12] Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith [00:13:16] without the deeds of the law. [00:13:20] Do you hear me? [00:13:21] A man is justified. [00:13:23] Now these are present tense Greek verse. [00:13:24] This means a man is made right and stays right with God, [00:13:29] not through the deeds of the law of Moses. [00:13:34] This is something I know, it blows my mind. [00:13:37] Again, I said it last week, [00:13:39] it blows my mind that I even have to address this in 2017. [00:13:44] Now let's look at the word justified [00:13:46] because this word's used again and again [00:13:48] and I wanna make sure you understand what it means. [00:13:53] Here is from the Blue Letter Bible. [00:13:55] This of course uses several different lexicons [00:13:58] to pull together the outline of biblical usage here. [00:14:02] The word justified and you notice it's from Romans three [00:14:06] and then it's got some of the verses [00:14:07] that the same Greek word is used in, [00:14:10] but here it is, it's the Greek word decao [00:14:14] or something like that, [00:14:15] but here's the outline of biblical usage. [00:14:17] It means to render righteous or such he ought to be. [00:14:21] So this is saying justified means how you ought to be. [00:14:28] It's not just for cleansing of sin, [00:14:30] it's how you ought to be, how you ought to live. [00:14:34] To show exhibit evidence, [00:14:36] just remember this word evidence, that means evidence. [00:14:39] I'll show you that in a second. [00:14:41] To show exhibit evidence, [00:14:43] one to be righteous such as he is [00:14:45] or wishes himself to be considered, [00:14:47] to declare pronounce one to be just, righteous, [00:14:50] or such as he ought to be. [00:14:51] Strong's definition, [00:14:53] to render to show regard just [00:14:55] or innocent, free, justified, righteous. [00:14:58] Some of the verses we just read, [00:15:00] therefore by the deeds of the law [00:15:01] and shall no flesh be justified in his sight. [00:15:05] It says here being justified freely by his grace. [00:15:08] I mean, we could just go on down. [00:15:10] Romans 4, if Abraham were justified by works, [00:15:13] of course Abraham was justified and made righteous [00:15:15] before the law ever came into being, through faith. [00:15:19] Galatians 2, but if we seek to be justified by the law [00:15:22] and we ourselves are found sinners, [00:15:24] therefore Christ is the minister of sin. [00:15:26] So he's talking about there, guess what? [00:15:28] Again, when we say we're justified by faith [00:15:32] and by his grace and mercy, [00:15:33] it doesn't mean we have a license [00:15:35] to live a lustful or immoral or indulgent life [00:15:41] in the lust of the flesh. [00:15:43] And we'll go to that. [00:15:45] But he goes on down here to say, [00:15:48] Galatians 5, 4, we'll get to that in a minute. [00:15:50] Christ has become no effect to you [00:15:52] whosoever you are justified by the law, [00:15:55] you are fallen from grace. [00:15:56] So again, justified means right with God, [00:16:00] how you ought to be. [00:16:02] He said, if you are thinking [00:16:05] that you are right with God or how you ought to be, [00:16:09] is by keeping the law of Moses, [00:16:11] then you're fallen from grace. [00:16:12] You don't even understand it and you've fallen away from it. [00:16:16] Just so you know, the word evince or evince [00:16:20] means to constitute the outward evidence of, [00:16:24] to display clearly. [00:16:26] This is Merriam-Webster's definition, so evince. [00:16:29] So when he says to be justified, [00:16:31] it's more than just to be saved, [00:16:33] to be forgiven of your sin, [00:16:35] but it is also justification is, [00:16:38] what is the evidence? [00:16:40] It's the evidence that you are saved. [00:16:42] The evidence that we are saved, listen, [00:16:44] the evidence that we are saved, folks, [00:16:45] is not that we live a sinless life [00:16:48] or that we keep the law of Moses or that we're perfect. [00:16:51] The evidence is that we maintain our faith [00:16:54] in Jesus Christ, in his sacrifice, in his blood, [00:16:57] in his resurrection, [00:16:58] and we maintain a real living relationship with him. [00:17:03] Listen, Abraham, I'm gonna give you this little tidbit. [00:17:05] Abraham was the father of our faith. [00:17:07] He did not have the law of Moses. [00:17:09] The law of Moses didn't come [00:17:10] for 430 years after Abraham, okay? [00:17:15] Now God gave him a sign, an outward token of the covenant, [00:17:18] which was circumcision. [00:17:19] Our outward sign of the covenant [00:17:21] is when we are baptized in water, okay? [00:17:24] That's us, that's our outward sign. [00:17:26] But Abraham didn't have any of the laws, [00:17:29] the dietary laws, he didn't have any of those things. [00:17:33] And it says that he is the father of our faith, [00:17:34] but what made him the father of our faith? [00:17:37] Abraham had a living, intimate relationship with God [00:17:41] where he heard God's voice and was led by God's spirit. [00:17:46] See, the goal of faith, the goal of Christianity, [00:17:51] is to be led by the spirit of God, [00:17:54] to have an intimate relationship with God through faith [00:17:58] and through his grace, [00:17:59] not because you do everything perfect [00:18:01] or certainly not because you keep the law of Moses. [00:18:06] That's just not what the New Testament is about at all, [00:18:12] nor was it Abraham's, [00:18:14] what Abraham's relationship was about. [00:18:18] Let's keep going. [00:18:20] Now these are some comments [00:18:23] because there are a lot of people out here, [00:18:25] and these are screenshots [00:18:29] of one of the leaders of the Torah movement out there. [00:18:35] And a lot of these were right after [00:18:37] I preached this last Sunday. [00:18:39] In fact, they were all early Monday morning [00:18:42] because he listened to my message and was fuming. [00:18:47] But he made these statements [00:18:48] because again, a lot of the Torah observers, [00:18:52] he break roots, Hebrew roots people will say that, [00:18:57] you know, it's not about salvation, it's not required, [00:19:00] we don't believe that. [00:19:01] But then they make statements like these, [00:19:04] which contradict that. [00:19:06] Like for instance, he said in a post cross, [00:19:10] post Levitical priesthood where there is no temple [00:19:13] and we are now under the order [00:19:14] of Melchizedek priesthood of Yeshua, [00:19:17] I see all that is basically left for us to do [00:19:20] concerning obeying the commandments as an act of love [00:19:22] and a fruit, not a root of our salvation. [00:19:26] I wanted to show this because I want you to see [00:19:30] this individual is a leader of the Torah observant movement. [00:19:33] And he says that keeping the law of Moses, [00:19:36] because that's what he's talking about, [00:19:37] is a fruit that you are saved, [00:19:41] implying that if you don't, you're not saved. [00:19:47] See, this is the games that gets played here. [00:19:53] Then he goes, according to Psalm 119 [00:19:56] and 1 John 2 through through five, [00:19:57] how do we know we're saved? [00:19:59] He even takes it a step further. [00:20:00] How do we know we're saved? [00:20:02] I would say, check your heart. [00:20:04] Does Yahweh's law bring great joy [00:20:06] and sincere desire to follow it [00:20:07] out of love for our creator and fellow man [00:20:10] or are you constantly repulsed [00:20:12] by the very mention of obedience to Yahweh's law [00:20:14] and want nothing to do with it? [00:20:16] Sadly, I'm seeing a ton of people [00:20:17] including a shocking number of pastors [00:20:19] and he's referring to me, by the way, [00:20:22] in the latter categories, because I have a screenshot [00:20:24] where he refers to my name [00:20:25] and says that I am in gross error, okay? [00:20:28] So he's referring to me. [00:20:32] Sadly, he said, I'm seeing a ton of people [00:20:33] including shocking number of pastors [00:20:35] in the latter category who claim to be Christians. [00:20:39] That's kind of frightening, really. [00:20:41] Why is it frightening? [00:20:44] He's basically saying, if you don't keep the law of Moses, [00:20:49] the old covenant law, how do you even know you're saved? [00:20:53] So don't tell me that these people [00:20:54] don't teach this as a requirement for salvation. [00:20:57] They talk out of both sides of their mouth, [00:20:59] forked tongue like serpent. [00:21:03] And then, they make these kind of statements, [00:21:06] the good cop, bad cop scenario [00:21:08] where everyone thinks Yeshua's the good cop [00:21:10] and came to outdo everything [00:21:11] his father perceived the bad cop. [00:21:13] Now, this is what he says here. [00:21:14] This Jesus that is preached today is antinomium. [00:21:19] This means against law and a false Christ. [00:21:23] So let me just stop right there. [00:21:24] He's saying that the Jesus, [00:21:27] that the Protestant church has preached for 500 years, [00:21:32] that we are justified by faith [00:21:34] apart from the deeds of the law, [00:21:37] that that is false, a false Christ. [00:21:44] I'm sorry, but I'm a Protestant. [00:21:46] And I'm gonna tell you what this, [00:21:47] let me tell you what this Torah observant movement is. [00:21:49] Let me tell you what it is. [00:21:51] It's an infiltration of the Jewish Kabbalists [00:21:55] to deceive Christians and make them unknowingly [00:21:58] blaspheme the Lord Jesus Christ [00:22:00] and go back under the law. [00:22:03] And I know this is for a fact. [00:22:07] Just like the Kabbalists are Jewish Satanists, [00:22:10] is what they are, okay? [00:22:14] And they pretend to be messianic Jews [00:22:17] and they come in and they deceive the people [00:22:20] into keeping the law [00:22:21] and unknowingly begin to move people out of grace [00:22:24] and into saying things like this. [00:22:29] He says, by that, I mean not that Jesus is evil, [00:22:32] but rather the version of him, [00:22:35] which is portrayed largely by December 25th celebrating [00:22:39] Sunday over Sabbath day, [00:22:40] pork and shrimp eating, anti-Torah folks. [00:22:44] The odd thing about it all [00:22:46] is that they are the ones preaching another gospel, [00:22:49] so they accuse me of doing so. [00:22:52] So I am being accused of gross error by this individual [00:22:57] and preaching another gospel. [00:23:00] But just a little footnote before we get there. [00:23:02] The book of Galatians was written about Christians [00:23:07] who were trying to force other Christians, [00:23:09] push and compel them and say it was a requirement [00:23:11] for them to live as do the Jews, to keep the law, [00:23:13] circumcision, feast, Sabbath and all that. [00:23:16] And Paul says those who were doing that, [00:23:18] they're the ones preaching another gospel. [00:23:30] It gets worse. [00:23:31] Let's understand the straw man argument that happens here. [00:23:37] Anybody ever heard of a straw man argument? [00:23:41] This is tactics used in debate or discussion [00:23:44] or when you disagree, but what people do [00:23:48] is they'll use a straw man argument to deflect [00:23:51] because when they can't really defeat your argument. [00:23:55] Let me explain with the straw, [00:23:56] y'all like my little straw man? [00:23:58] A straw man argument, you misrepresented someone's argument [00:24:02] to make it easier to attack [00:24:04] by exaggerating, misrepresenting [00:24:06] or just completely fabricating someone's argument, [00:24:08] it's much easier to present your own position [00:24:11] as being reasonable. [00:24:12] But this kind of dishonesty serves [00:24:14] to undermine honest, rational debate. [00:24:16] Example, after Will said that they should put more money [00:24:19] into health and education, [00:24:20] Warren responded by saying that he was surprised [00:24:23] that Will hates our country so much [00:24:24] that he wants to leave it defenseless [00:24:26] by cutting military spending. [00:24:29] See, you take someone position, [00:24:32] you misrepresent their position [00:24:34] and make them seem unreasonable [00:24:36] when they didn't say that. [00:24:37] That's not their goal or what definition, [00:24:39] but this is a straw man. [00:24:41] Here's another definition of the straw man argument. [00:24:44] It means an intentionally misrepresented position [00:24:47] that is set up because it's easier to defeat [00:24:50] than an opponent's real argument. [00:24:52] So what the Torah terrorists do [00:24:55] is they'll say, you don't wanna keep God's commandments. [00:24:59] You're horrible. [00:25:03] That's a straw man. [00:25:04] Because true born again Christians [00:25:07] do not wanna live in sin. [00:25:12] But we also do not wanna live under what the Bible says [00:25:16] is a curse or what we've been freed from [00:25:20] or is a burden, a yoke [00:25:22] that is not intended for us anymore. [00:25:26] You see, you can say, [00:25:28] oh, you don't wanna obey Yahweh's commandments, [00:25:30] so you're evil. [00:25:33] No, you wanna create a following [00:25:37] and scare people that they've gotta act like you [00:25:39] and keep the Torah [00:25:40] and you don't even keep all the Torah. [00:25:44] You know, the story of the Pharisee in Luke 18, [00:25:47] the story of the Pharisee and the publican [00:25:49] is very interesting. [00:25:52] They said two men went up to pray, Jesus said. [00:25:55] One a Pharisee, one a publican. [00:25:59] And they said the Pharisee lifted up his eyes [00:26:01] and said, Lord, I think you, [00:26:02] I'm not like this publican here. [00:26:05] I fast twice in a week. [00:26:07] I tithe as of all. [00:26:08] Basically what the Pharisee would say, [00:26:10] I think God, I'm not like him. [00:26:12] I keep the law. [00:26:15] And the publican wouldn't even look up to heaven. [00:26:18] And he said, God, just be merciful to me, a sinner. [00:26:21] And Jesus said, that man, the publican, [00:26:25] is the one that left there, justified, [00:26:27] not the lawkeeper. [00:26:31] Just a little side note. [00:26:35] Let's keep going. [00:26:41] Oh, I'm gonna tell you, the devil hates this. [00:26:43] Here's an example. [00:26:44] Here's a few examples of straw men argument. [00:26:46] And these are two different individuals here, [00:26:48] so don't think it's the same person. [00:26:50] But I made a comment about, you know, [00:26:53] that we are not under the law. [00:26:55] Here's the example of taking it to the extreme. [00:26:58] So this woman right here says, [00:27:00] so are you saying I can go out and kill someone? [00:27:03] See where they go? [00:27:04] That's a straw man argument. [00:27:06] Did I say that? [00:27:07] Do I believe that? [00:27:08] Would I teach that? [00:27:09] Does the New Testament teach that? [00:27:10] No. [00:27:12] But see, you see what they do? [00:27:13] They take something and misrepresent your position [00:27:15] so they can make their position seem more reasonable. [00:27:19] That's not debate. [00:27:20] That's not even rational. [00:27:22] And it's easy to expose. [00:27:24] And then, of course, they said, [00:27:26] is that loving God and loving your neighbor? [00:27:28] The two laws Jesus said were the above everything. [00:27:32] No, going out and killing your neighbor [00:27:34] would fall under not loving your neighbor. [00:27:37] All right. [00:27:40] So here's another one. [00:27:41] This is from the leader, [00:27:43] one of the leaders of the Torah observant movement. [00:27:46] He says, what? [00:27:47] Following Yahweh's commandment? [00:27:49] That is so Old Testament. [00:27:50] No, this is one of his comment, [00:27:51] people commenting on his. [00:27:53] He said, that is so Old Testament. [00:27:54] Haven't you heard? [00:27:56] Jesus died so you could eat bacon [00:27:57] and not have to listen to the Father anymore. [00:27:59] Come on, man. [00:28:00] Get with the new covenant already. [00:28:02] See the condescending straw man argument [00:28:07] taking it to the extreme. [00:28:08] And nobody said that there's not any commandments [00:28:12] to obey anymore in the New Testament. [00:28:16] It's just different now. [00:28:17] There's an old covenant and there's a new covenant. [00:28:20] If it's not different, these people get, [00:28:22] I mean, they really chapped my behind on this one [00:28:27] because they wanna say, God didn't change. [00:28:29] The law didn't change. [00:28:31] Then why aren't you sacrificing animals? [00:28:34] Oh, but that part changed. [00:28:37] Oh, really? [00:28:38] Well, maybe some more changed. [00:28:39] You just haven't checked. [00:28:46] What's that? [00:28:47] Oh yeah. [00:28:48] The beards. [00:28:49] Oh yeah. [00:28:53] No, a lot of it's changed in fact. [00:28:57] But do you see where they go? [00:29:03] It's not about, I don't care [00:29:04] whether you eat bacon or not, [00:29:09] but I'm gonna tell you one thing. [00:29:11] You can eat it if you want to. [00:29:12] New Testament believer. [00:29:16] I'll tell you what, my great aunts [00:29:18] that prayed me into the kingdom, [00:29:19] my great grandmother, [00:29:21] three of the most godly women I ever met [00:29:23] ate bacon every day of their lives. [00:29:27] It was in the butter beans and the green beans [00:29:30] and the squash and they lived. [00:29:34] My grandmother was 89 years old. [00:29:37] My aunt was 82 years old when she passed away [00:29:40] and one still going in February turns 96. [00:29:46] And you know what? [00:29:47] That's why the Bible says that every creature, [00:29:49] 1 Timothy four, every creature may be received. [00:29:54] Every creature is good and may be received [00:29:57] if it is received with thanksgiving [00:30:00] for it is sanctified by the word of God in prayer. [00:30:02] And the word sanctified means to be cleansed and made holy. [00:30:07] So guess what? [00:30:08] When I pray over my bacon, it's holy. [00:30:16] That's Bible. [00:30:18] But these people like to mock the New Testament. [00:30:21] That's mocking the New Testament is what that is. [00:30:25] God help them. [00:30:27] And then of course I've already read this, [00:30:28] but this is just, this right here [00:30:30] just tells you everything. [00:30:33] The December 25th celebrating Sunday over Sabbath day [00:30:37] pork and shrimp eating anti-tort. [00:30:38] Yeah, you see that? [00:30:41] You telling me it doesn't matter? [00:30:44] My wife got a email from one of her old acquaintances [00:30:48] from the pregnancy resource center. [00:30:55] And this is a woman that's gone [00:30:56] from the Presbyterian church [00:30:58] now to the Torah observant movement. [00:31:01] And she says, oh, I don't believe it's for salvation. [00:31:07] I don't believe it makes you righteous. [00:31:09] We're saved by grace. [00:31:12] We're righteous by God's grace through our faith. [00:31:15] But, and she's gonna take all this time [00:31:18] to try to refute basically what I preached last week. [00:31:21] And the theological gymnastics that she goes through [00:31:25] is unbelievable how she tried to deny what Acts 15 said, [00:31:30] how she began to twist even Colossians two. [00:31:33] And I'm just like, wow, [00:31:36] the level of deception that's in this movement. [00:31:41] Now let's look at some scriptures. [00:31:43] I wanna show this because again, [00:31:44] they just made this straw man argument that [00:31:48] New Testament, New Covenant believers [00:31:50] who believe we're not under the law of Moses, [00:31:53] that we are somehow anti-nominate. [00:31:55] We're anti-law or we believe you can, [00:31:58] grace is the license of sin and you just live anyway [00:32:00] you want, do whatever you want. [00:32:01] But that's not what the New Testament preaches. [00:32:03] So what we're gonna do real quick [00:32:04] is we're gonna go through the entire chapter, [00:32:07] well, not quite the entire, but almost the entire chapter [00:32:10] of Galatians chapter five. [00:32:13] Because he's dealing with this whole thing [00:32:14] and we're gonna hit back in Galatians in just a minute. [00:32:16] But let's just read chapter five [00:32:17] because I want to immediately dispel the idea [00:32:21] that the New Covenant has no law or morality. [00:32:24] We are under the law of Christ, the law of faith, [00:32:27] not the law of Moses. [00:32:28] Now they mock that too, when we say that, [00:32:30] that gets mocked as well. [00:32:32] But let's read what Paul wrote in Galatians, [00:32:35] by inspiration of the Holy Spirit. [00:32:38] Stand fast therefore, in the liberty [00:32:41] wherewith Christ has made us free [00:32:43] and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. [00:32:47] Behold, I Paul say unto you that if you be circumcised, [00:32:50] Christ shall profit you nothing. [00:32:52] See, he's saying here, if you look to try to keep [00:32:55] this law of circumcision, Christ profits you nothing [00:33:01] because you're putting your trust in this act of the law [00:33:05] instead of in Jesus alone, okay? [00:33:09] So let's keep reading. [00:33:10] He says, for I testify again to every man [00:33:12] that is circumcised that he is a debtor [00:33:15] to do the whole law. [00:33:16] I mean, he must do the whole law. [00:33:18] If he's gonna start with circumcision [00:33:21] and that's what he's gonna look to [00:33:22] to make him righteous and right with God [00:33:24] or in right standing with God, [00:33:25] then he's gotta do the whole law. [00:33:29] And guess what? [00:33:30] As Dr. Michael Brown, who is a Jew and a theologian, [00:33:34] said the other day that 75% of the law cannot be kept [00:33:39] because there is no temple and there is no priesthood, right? [00:33:44] So he says, now listen to this, here we go, verse four. [00:33:49] Christ has become of no effect to you [00:33:53] whosoever of you are justified by the law, [00:33:57] you are fallen from grace. [00:33:58] Now I wanna stop right there. [00:34:00] This individual that I just quoted [00:34:03] and his followers, many of them, [00:34:07] they're looking to the keeping of the law [00:34:09] as what makes them right with God [00:34:12] and what is the proof that they're right with God. [00:34:15] And they're questioning my salvation [00:34:17] and your salvation if we don't. [00:34:20] So I'm gonna tell you right now, [00:34:22] according to this, they are looking to the law [00:34:25] for justification, they have fallen from grace [00:34:28] and Christ is no effect to them. [00:34:30] Now this is Bible. [00:34:32] And this is why they're deceived. [00:34:33] They're deceived, a spirit of deception [00:34:35] and a spirit of error, a seducing spirit has them [00:34:39] because they have moved out from under God's grace, [00:34:41] which is the spirit of God, the Holy Spirit, [00:34:44] another name for the Holy Spirit is the spirit of grace. [00:34:46] So they've moved away from the spirit of grace [00:34:48] who is the spirit of truth [00:34:52] and therefore they're easily deceived. [00:34:56] But he goes on to say, verse five, [00:34:57] for we through the spirit [00:34:59] wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. [00:35:03] For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision [00:35:06] availeth anything nor uncircumcision, [00:35:09] but faith which worketh by love. [00:35:11] What is he saying there? [00:35:12] He's saying this outward thing of the law, [00:35:15] circumcision, he said, it doesn't matter what you use, [00:35:17] circumcisely you're not circumcised. [00:35:19] He said, it's only by faith that works by love. [00:35:24] So it's not law, it's faith. [00:35:27] And law and faith, let me say this to you, [00:35:30] law and faith cannot coexist. [00:35:32] You either trust in the law you're keeping of the law [00:35:37] or your faith is in Jesus Christ. [00:35:39] You can't have both. [00:35:41] I'll show you that in a minute [00:35:42] because the Bible says the law makes faith void. [00:35:46] I'll show you that in a second. [00:35:48] And then he says this, now again, [00:35:50] he's talking about Christians being told [00:35:53] they must keep the law of Moses. [00:35:54] And he says right here, you did run well. [00:35:57] Who did hinder you that you should not obey the truth? [00:36:01] This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you. [00:36:04] He's telling you, if someone's pushing [00:36:07] the Torah observance on you, [00:36:09] or they're telling you or implying or hinting [00:36:12] or coercing or threatening or making you fear [00:36:16] that maybe I'm not saved if I'm not doing it. [00:36:20] It says this persuasion is not coming from God. [00:36:23] So where's it coming from? [00:36:24] Satan. [00:36:26] Let's keep going. [00:36:27] The same chapter five, go to verse nine. [00:36:30] He said a little leaveneth the whole lump, [00:36:34] meaning even a little of this creeps in as bad. [00:36:37] He said, I have confidence in you through the Lord [00:36:40] that you will be none otherwise minded, [00:36:42] but he that troubleth you shall bear his judgment [00:36:44] whosoever he be. [00:36:45] And this is saying, who's troubling you telling you [00:36:47] you must keep the law in addition [00:36:50] to your salvation by faith? [00:36:51] He's saying the person that troubles you [00:36:53] is gonna bear judgment for it. [00:36:56] He says, and I, brother, and if I yet preach circumcision, [00:36:59] why do I yet suffer persecution? [00:37:02] Then as the offense of the cross ceased, [00:37:04] I would that they were cut off which trouble you. [00:37:07] So Paul said, I wish the people who are doing this [00:37:10] were cut off. [00:37:12] I'm not gonna tell you what he's really saying [00:37:15] here in the Greek. [00:37:17] It's basically he's saying, oh, you wanna circumcise it? [00:37:19] Go ahead and cut it off. [00:37:26] For brother and you shall, listen to this, [00:37:28] he says right here, verse 13. [00:37:29] For brother and you have been called unto liberty. [00:37:34] What are we free from? [00:37:35] You're gonna see it in a minute. [00:37:36] Free from having to keep the law of Moses. [00:37:37] We're free. [00:37:38] Only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, [00:37:40] but by love serve one another. [00:37:42] For all the law is fulfilled in one word, [00:37:44] even in this, thou shalt love thy neighbors thyself. [00:37:47] But if ye bite and devour one another, [00:37:48] take heed that ye be not consumed one another. [00:37:51] This I say then, walk in the spirit [00:37:54] and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. [00:37:56] Let's keep going. [00:37:59] For the flesh lusteth against the spirit [00:38:01] and the spirit against the flesh [00:38:02] and these are contrary one to another [00:38:04] so that you cannot do the things that you would. [00:38:06] Look at this right here. [00:38:07] Everybody look at verse 18. [00:38:09] But if you are led by the spirit, [00:38:11] if you are led of the spirit, the Holy Spirit, [00:38:14] you are not under the law. [00:38:16] What? [00:38:20] You ever give you the flip side of that coin? [00:38:21] You know how a coin always has two sides, right? [00:38:24] Flip side of that coin is, [00:38:25] if you wanna be under the law, [00:38:27] you are not being led by the spirit. [00:38:32] God's not leading you that way. [00:38:36] Being led by the spirit means [00:38:37] you have a relationship with God through faith, [00:38:40] through the blood of Jesus. [00:38:43] You've surrendered your life. [00:38:44] You've given your life over to him. [00:38:46] You spend time with him [00:38:47] and you learn to hear his voice [00:38:49] and you walk in the newness of life. [00:38:51] You walk in the new covenant. [00:38:52] You walk in a relationship with Jesus, with God. [00:38:56] That's the way it's supposed to be. [00:38:59] And guess what? [00:39:00] If you're being led by the spirit, [00:39:01] you won't murder your neighbor. [00:39:02] You won't steal from your neighbor. [00:39:04] You won't commit adultery with your neighbor. [00:39:07] See the point? [00:39:10] And then he says this, [00:39:11] but if you are led by the spirit, [00:39:12] you are not under the law. [00:39:13] Now the works of the flesh are manifest, [00:39:16] which are these? [00:39:16] Idolatry, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness. [00:39:21] And this is just debauchery and just craziness. [00:39:26] And they get licentiousness, [00:39:27] just living to the lust of the flesh, to the fullest. [00:39:30] And he goes on, idolatry, witchcraft, [00:39:32] hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, [00:39:35] seditions, heresies, envy, murder, drunkenness, [00:39:38] revelings and such like, [00:39:39] of which I tell you before, [00:39:41] as I've also told you in time past, [00:39:43] that they which do such things [00:39:44] shall not inherit the kingdom of God. [00:39:46] Now he's saying right here, [00:39:48] he's telling you, [00:39:50] we're not under the law, [00:39:52] but you're not to live and practice [00:39:55] these wicked things of the flesh. [00:39:59] So I don't have to keep the feast, [00:40:01] but I do have to stay out of fornication, [00:40:05] adultery, witchcraft, right? [00:40:09] Now how do I know? [00:40:09] Because these things were carried over. [00:40:12] There are aspects of the old covenant [00:40:14] in the new covenant, [00:40:16] and there are things from the old covenant [00:40:17] that are not in the new covenant. [00:40:19] And all you got to do to find out [00:40:21] what's in which one is read it. [00:40:28] And then he says, [00:40:28] but the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, [00:40:31] long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, [00:40:32] meekness, temperance. [00:40:33] And look what he says, [00:40:34] against such there is no law. [00:40:39] Now let's keep going here. [00:40:42] Let's go to Romans chapter eight. [00:40:46] Now I wanna show you something here. [00:40:47] This is where you get one of the first terms. [00:40:49] We've already seen righteousness without the law. [00:40:53] Now you're gonna see the term, [00:40:54] we are free, made free from the law, all right? [00:40:59] Let's read this. [00:41:00] Romans eight, verse one, [00:41:02] there is therefore now no condemnation [00:41:04] to them which were in Christ Jesus, [00:41:06] who walked not after the flesh, but after the spirit. [00:41:08] We've already looked at what that means. [00:41:09] Walking after the flesh, [00:41:11] Paul spelled out in Galatians five, [00:41:12] the deeds of the flesh. [00:41:13] So you don't walk after those things, [00:41:14] you don't practice those things. [00:41:16] But you seek God, [00:41:18] you get into relationship with God [00:41:19] and you let the Holy Spirit lead your life, right? [00:41:23] And then he says this, [00:41:26] for the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus [00:41:29] has made me free from the law of sin and death. [00:41:32] Now some people say, [00:41:33] oh the law of sin and death, [00:41:34] that's not the law of Moses. [00:41:35] Oh yeah, he goes on to tell you that it is, [00:41:37] because he says for what the law could not do [00:41:40] in that it was weak through the flesh. [00:41:43] So he's talking about the law could not make you free, [00:41:46] it could not make you without condemnation. [00:41:49] So he's saying, [00:41:51] for what the law could not do [00:41:52] in that it was weak through the flesh, [00:41:55] God sending his own son [00:41:57] in the likeness of sinful flesh [00:41:58] and for sin condemned sin in the flesh, [00:42:00] that the righteousness of the law of Moses [00:42:03] might be fulfilled in us [00:42:06] who walk not after the flesh, [00:42:07] but after the spirit. [00:42:09] So what he's saying is, [00:42:10] if we will walk in faith, [00:42:12] if we will walk in a relationship with Jesus Christ, [00:42:15] and if we will not walk after [00:42:19] the list of the lust of the flesh [00:42:21] and the works of the flesh, [00:42:22] he said if we won't do, [00:42:23] if we'll stay away from that, [00:42:25] then we will, the righteousness of the law, [00:42:27] the whole law is fulfilled in us. [00:42:32] That's that thing about Christ is the end of the law, [00:42:34] Romans 10, four, [00:42:35] Christ is the end of the law for righteousness. [00:42:37] He is the end, he is the goal, [00:42:38] he is the finish line. [00:42:41] If you're walking, if you're in Christ, [00:42:43] you have no need of the law of Moses. [00:42:47] Now let's keep going. [00:42:51] See, it gets real silly here. [00:42:52] Here's another, this is another one of that [00:42:54] Torah leaders comments here. [00:42:59] I blocked out his name for the time being, [00:43:00] but that day is coming when it shall be removed. [00:43:06] But right here, I wanna read this again. [00:43:08] He said, Christians today ignorantly use Paul [00:43:13] to say that the perfect, [00:43:14] notice he said perfect, just remember that. [00:43:17] Perfect life giving instructions of Yahweh, [00:43:20] AKA the Torah or commonly the law is a curse. [00:43:24] Really? [00:43:25] You actually believe that the loving instructions [00:43:28] given by Yahweh to his people is a curse? [00:43:31] That's the gross misunderstanding [00:43:33] you are going to hang your doctrine on [00:43:35] that Paul allegedly taught that Yahweh gave us curses to obey. [00:43:41] Now that's twisting, but I wanna show you something. [00:43:45] He says, you're twisting. [00:43:47] Well, here's what Paul wrote about that. [00:43:49] Let's read the scriptures [00:43:51] and not our favorite internet armchair theologian [00:43:58] who's not called to the five-fold ministry [00:44:00] and really has no business teaching, [00:44:02] but I digress. [00:44:05] Galatians 3, 6 through 14. [00:44:09] Galatians 6, he says, even as Abraham believed God [00:44:13] and it was accounted to him for righteousness, [00:44:15] know ye therefore that they which are of faith, [00:44:18] the same are the children of Abraham. [00:44:19] And the scripture foreseen that God would justify [00:44:22] the heathen through faith, not through the law, [00:44:26] preached before the gospel unto Abraham, [00:44:28] saying, in thee shall all nations be blessed. [00:44:30] So then they which be of faith [00:44:32] are blessed with faithful Abraham. [00:44:34] Look at this. [00:44:35] For as many as are of the works of the law [00:44:38] are under the curse. [00:44:40] Pastor Dean didn't say that. [00:44:43] Scofield, Darby and the rest of them didn't say it. [00:44:49] Paul wrote it. [00:44:50] If you wanna be of the law, [00:44:52] if you want to be in the law, [00:44:54] if you wanna try to keep the law, [00:44:55] then you are under the curse according to Paul. [00:44:58] It's not allegedly, it's just what he taught. [00:45:04] Let's keep reading. [00:45:05] For as many as are of the works of the law [00:45:08] are under the curse. [00:45:10] For it is written, [00:45:11] cursed is everyone that continueth, [00:45:13] not in all things which are written [00:45:15] in the book of the law to do them. [00:45:18] So, and this is quoting the Old Testament. [00:45:23] Cursed is everyone who does not do [00:45:25] every single thing in the law. [00:45:29] Meaning, if you missed it one time, [00:45:32] the curse of death is upon you. [00:45:36] The condemnation. [00:45:39] But look at what he goes on to say. [00:45:40] But that no man is justified, [00:45:44] made right with God, righteous, [00:45:46] by the law in the sight of God, [00:45:47] it is evident for the just shall live by faith. [00:45:50] And the law is not of faith. [00:45:53] Everybody say that with me. [00:45:54] The law is not of faith. [00:46:00] The two don't mix, it's oil and water. [00:46:05] The law is not of faith. [00:46:09] But the man that doeth them shall live in them. [00:46:11] Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, [00:46:15] being made a curse for us. [00:46:18] Is this phrase not in the Bible, curse of the law? [00:46:24] I mean, he mocks and acts like it's something [00:46:26] that I created. [00:46:29] I just came up with this. [00:46:31] Or these pastors came up with it. [00:46:36] Now you're just saying for pastors, [00:46:38] is that demon it's in? [00:46:40] Because you don't submit to any true, [00:46:42] fivefold, godly leadership. [00:46:44] You don't have any apostles, or prophets, [00:46:46] or evangelists, or pastors, or teachers, [00:46:47] or true elders. [00:46:48] Now you've got your groupies. [00:46:49] You've got your Torah groupies. [00:46:52] Or your Nephilim groupies. [00:46:53] Or your flat earth groupies. [00:46:58] I mean, I have one of his quotes. [00:47:00] He says, I don't go to church. [00:47:03] Well, you told me everything I needed to know. [00:47:09] He says, and the law is not of faith, [00:47:12] but the man that doeth them shall live in them. [00:47:14] Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, [00:47:15] being made a curse for us. [00:47:17] For it is written, [00:47:18] cursed is everyone that hangeth on a tree, [00:47:20] that the blessings of Abraham might come on the Gentiles [00:47:22] through Jesus Christ, [00:47:24] that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. [00:47:29] Not by the works of the law, [00:47:30] not by the deeds of the law. [00:47:33] A lot of scripture today, right? [00:47:35] Now remember he said, [00:47:37] the law is perfect. [00:47:38] God's law is perfect. [00:47:40] He's talking about the old covenant. [00:47:41] The perfect command, right? [00:47:43] Perfect. [00:47:46] Now, let me explain something. [00:47:48] A lot of times we misunderstand the word perfect. [00:47:50] We think it always means flawless. [00:47:55] But sometimes it just means complete, [00:47:57] mature, completion. [00:47:59] Usually in the New Testament, [00:48:00] when you use the word perfect, [00:48:01] it means complete. [00:48:03] But let's look at this passage. [00:48:06] And this is Hebrews 7, 11 through 22. [00:48:12] He says, [00:48:12] if therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, [00:48:17] for under it the people received the law, [00:48:20] what further need was there [00:48:21] that another priest should arise [00:48:22] after the order of Melchizedek [00:48:23] and not be called after the order of Aaron. [00:48:26] For the priesthood being changed, [00:48:28] there is made of necessity, [00:48:31] a change also of the law. [00:48:34] Oh, all the Torah people that teach, [00:48:39] all the teachers say the law was not changed. [00:48:41] We're still under it. [00:48:42] We still gotta keep it. [00:48:43] We still should do it. [00:48:44] We should do it to prove we love God. [00:48:46] We should do it to prove we're safe. [00:48:47] We should do it. [00:48:48] We just should do it. [00:48:51] It makes us, it's better. [00:48:53] No, it's not better. [00:48:55] Folks, let me tell you something right now. [00:48:57] Living under the old covenant [00:48:59] versus living under the new covenant, [00:49:01] the old covenant is not better. [00:49:05] The new covenant is better. [00:49:06] And the Bible says it's better. [00:49:12] He says here, [00:49:13] for the priesthood being changed, [00:49:14] there is made of necessity, [00:49:15] a change also of the law. [00:49:17] For he of whom these things are spoken, [00:49:19] pertained to another tribe [00:49:21] of which no man gave attendance at the altar. [00:49:24] For it is evident that our Lord, [00:49:26] speaking of Jesus, [00:49:27] sprang out of Judah, [00:49:28] a tribe which Moses spake nothing [00:49:30] concerning the priesthood. [00:49:31] Isn't it interesting that there's nothing [00:49:34] in the Torah, [00:49:35] in the first five books, [00:49:36] in the books of Moses, [00:49:37] about the Melchizedek priesthood [00:49:40] or the priesthood of Jesus [00:49:42] being under that priesthood. [00:49:43] Nothing there. [00:49:44] That's why he says, [00:49:45] Moses spake nothing of it. [00:49:49] And he talks about, [00:49:49] there will arise, [00:49:50] after the simultaneous of the Melchizedek, [00:49:52] there arises another priest [00:49:53] who is made not after the law [00:49:55] of a carnal commandment, [00:49:56] but after the power of an endless life. [00:49:58] For he testified, [00:49:59] thou art a priest forever [00:50:00] after the order of Melchizedek, [00:50:02] for there is verily [00:50:03] a disannulling of the commandment. [00:50:06] Oh, that just hurts, [00:50:07] I'm right there. [00:50:08] Disannulling of the commandment, [00:50:11] going before the weakness [00:50:13] and unprofitable thereof, [00:50:14] for the law made nothing perfect. [00:50:16] Everybody say this with me. [00:50:17] The law made nothing perfect, [00:50:22] but the bringing in of a better hope did. [00:50:25] Do you see that? [00:50:28] He's comparing the law, [00:50:31] the old covenant and the new covenant, [00:50:32] and he said, [00:50:33] the law made nothing perfect [00:50:34] or nothing complete. [00:50:36] Nothing was finished. [00:50:37] Nothing was made righteous. [00:50:41] Sin was covered, [00:50:42] it wasn't washed away. [00:50:48] And no man or woman [00:50:49] could perfectly keep it, [00:50:50] the law. [00:50:52] I'll deal with that in a second too. [00:50:55] But he says, [00:50:56] for the law made nothing perfect, [00:50:57] but the bringing in of a better hope did, [00:50:59] by which we draw nigh to God. [00:51:00] And insomuch as not without an oath, [00:51:03] he was made a priest, [00:51:04] for those priests were made without an oath. [00:51:06] This is the oath by him [00:51:07] that said unto him, [00:51:08] the Lord swear and will not repent. [00:51:09] Thou art a priest forever [00:51:11] after the order of Melchizedek. [00:51:13] By so much was Jesus made [00:51:14] a surety of a better testament. [00:51:20] Jesus Christ is a better testament. [00:51:22] Now, let's look at this verse, [00:51:24] these two verses in Hebrews, [00:51:27] just over in the next chapter, [00:51:30] how in the world is the old covenant better? [00:51:34] A better way to live. [00:51:36] When this tells us right here, [00:51:38] this is Hebrews 8, 6, 3, 7. [00:51:41] But now hath he obtained [00:51:43] a more excellent ministry [00:51:44] by how much more also he, [00:51:46] speaking of Jesus, [00:51:47] is the mediator of a better covenant, [00:51:50] which was established upon better promises. [00:51:54] For if the first covenant had been faultless, [00:51:58] then should no place have been sought for the second. [00:52:03] So the Torah idea that going back [00:52:07] under the law of Moses [00:52:08] is a better way of life, [00:52:12] or the way we should do it as new, [00:52:13] this is not scripture. [00:52:18] Now let's keep going. [00:52:21] I wanna get back to a little bit [00:52:22] of what I talked about last Sunday, [00:52:23] because he said here, [00:52:24] here's another quote from this individual, [00:52:27] those who claim that the law is a curse [00:52:29] or a burden we cannot bear [00:52:31] or a yoke around our necks, [00:52:32] quite clearly have never read Deuteronomy [00:52:36] nor Psalm 119, nor most of the prophets, [00:52:39] nor 1 John 2 through five. [00:52:44] Now this is a direct quote. [00:52:46] Those who claim the law is a curse. [00:52:48] Now who claimed it? [00:52:49] Pastor Dean or Paul? [00:52:50] The Apostle Paul, right? [00:52:53] Who said it was a yoke and a burden [00:52:55] that they could not do? [00:52:56] Was that Pastor Dean? [00:52:59] Or was that the counsel of the apostles, [00:53:01] Peter and Paul and James? [00:53:02] Let's look at it. [00:53:04] I said, for those who mocked [00:53:05] the New Testament pastors like me [00:53:07] for quoting exactly what the Bible says [00:53:10] about the law being a yoke, [00:53:12] a burden that could not be kept in bondage, [00:53:13] let's set the record straight [00:53:16] about what the apostles said [00:53:18] about requiring new disciples [00:53:19] to keep the law of Moses or Torah. [00:53:23] The Acts 15 council of the apostles and elders [00:53:25] of the early church came together [00:53:26] to address this question. [00:53:28] Are New Testament Christians required [00:53:30] to keep the law of Moses or Torah? [00:53:32] Here it is Acts 15, [00:53:34] five and six, but there arose up [00:53:36] certain of the sect of the Pharisees, [00:53:38] which believed, saying that it was [00:53:40] needful to circumcise them [00:53:41] and to command them to keep the law of Moses. [00:53:44] And the apostles and elders came together [00:53:46] to consider this matter. [00:53:48] So what matter are they considering? [00:53:50] Are new disciples, new believers in Jesus Christ [00:53:53] that have been born again [00:53:54] by grace through faith, [00:53:56] are they required to keep the law of Moses? [00:54:00] Simple, right? [00:54:03] Not Pastor Dean's idea. [00:54:08] It was the apostle Peter, not Pastor Dean. [00:54:14] No, I just wanna say that again. [00:54:15] It was the apostle Peter who stood up first [00:54:19] to address this. [00:54:20] Not even Paul, whom they despise. [00:54:25] Or I love it, they always say, [00:54:26] you don't understand Paul. [00:54:29] No, I've been saved studying the Bible [00:54:30] and Hebrew and Greek and reading [00:54:33] and studying for 30 years, [00:54:34] I don't understand Paul. [00:54:35] Yeah, okay, whatever, dude. [00:54:39] It was the apostle Peter who said [00:54:40] that requiring the New Testament Gentile believers [00:54:43] to keep the law of Moses was to quote, [00:54:44] put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, [00:54:47] which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear. [00:54:52] I didn't say it. [00:54:53] Peter said it. [00:54:56] And he even said that doing so, [00:54:58] he warned them that they would be tempting God [00:55:00] if they required New Covenant believers [00:55:04] to keep the law of Moses. [00:55:05] Tempting God, not a good thing. [00:55:11] Here's the verse, Acts 15, 10 through 11. [00:55:14] And now therefore, why tempt ye God [00:55:17] to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, [00:55:20] which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear, [00:55:22] but we believe that through the grace [00:55:24] of the Lord Jesus Christ, [00:55:25] we shall be saved even as they. [00:55:27] So it was Peter. [00:55:29] Peter said it was a yoke that we couldn't keep, [00:55:32] the Jews couldn't keep, and no one can. [00:55:35] We can't do it and our fathers couldn't do it. [00:55:39] Do you see? [00:55:40] It's like these people are acting like [00:55:44] that us New Testament pastors, [00:55:46] all of a sudden, we're bad guys [00:55:47] and we just came up with these phrases. [00:55:52] And then it was the apostle James who said [00:55:54] that it would be troubling the Gentile believers [00:55:56] to compel them or to require them [00:55:58] to keep the law of Moses. [00:55:59] Acts 15, 19, he says, [00:56:00] wherefore my sentence is that we trouble not them, [00:56:04] which among the Gentiles are turned to God. [00:56:09] So it's a burden, it's a yoke, [00:56:10] we were not able to bear, [00:56:11] it's tempting God and it's troubling them. [00:56:15] Not my words. [00:56:17] The Council of Acts 15. [00:56:21] Let's continue, and it was in a letter [00:56:24] to all the Gentile churches from all the apostles. [00:56:27] See, one person even said that this was only Paul. [00:56:34] No, this letter was from all the apostles and elders. [00:56:41] And it says that from all the apostles and elders [00:56:43] that those who were saying that the Gentiles [00:56:45] had to be circumcised and keep the law, [00:56:47] had troubled them and subverted their souls. [00:56:50] Acts 15, 24, for as much as we have heard [00:56:53] that certain which went out from us [00:56:55] have troubled you with words subverting your souls, [00:56:58] saying that you must be circumcised and keep the law [00:57:00] to whom we gave no such commandment. [00:57:04] My Lord, is that crystal clear? [00:57:12] It was the apostle Paul who also called [00:57:15] going back to keep the law of Moses. [00:57:16] Look, he said, being entangled again with the yoke [00:57:18] of bondage, you have fallen from grace, right? [00:57:21] So it happens to sound just like what Peter said, [00:57:24] it was bondage, a yoke about their neck. [00:57:26] And Paul said, don't go back under that yoke of bondage. [00:57:30] Amazing, Peter and Paul agree that to go back [00:57:35] under the law is a yoke of bondage, [00:57:40] and it's troubling, and the apostles gave no such commandment [00:57:45] to new tested believers. [00:57:46] Now, Faith Marine, could you come? [00:57:50] First part of our illustration here, [00:57:55] let's go to the book of Galatians. [00:58:05] Now, we've got several little illustrations I wanna use here, [00:58:09] but I wanna make this clear, [00:58:11] because this came up in the discussion as well. [00:58:15] I'll put no longer under the school master. [00:58:17] In fact, let's just turn. [00:58:19] Faith is my little student here this morning. [00:58:22] So let's turn to Galatians chapter three, [00:58:25] because I have two verses up here, [00:58:27] but I wanna read a little bit here. [00:58:30] There's no way that these three illustrations [00:58:33] I'm about to give you, [00:58:34] there's no way they can be misconstrued. [00:58:36] There's no ambiguity here. [00:58:38] There's no mystery, okay? [00:58:42] These are examples, [00:58:43] the apostle Paul will give you three examples he gave [00:58:46] of illustrating that we are not under [00:58:50] the law of Moses anymore, right? [00:58:54] All right, let's read Galatians. [00:58:56] I have verse 24 and 25 up here on the slide. [00:59:05] Oh, let's see. [00:59:07] Where do I wanna go back to? [00:59:12] Oh, let's read this. [00:59:14] Go back to, and this people just, [00:59:17] you don't have to worry about Kevin, just leave this here. [00:59:19] But I'm gonna go back here to verse 16. [00:59:24] Now to Abraham and to his seed where the promise is made. [00:59:27] He sayeth not into seeds as of many, [00:59:30] but as of one until I seed which is Christ. [00:59:33] And this I say that the covenant that was confirmed [00:59:35] before of God in Christ, [00:59:38] the law which was 430 years after cannot disannul [00:59:42] that it should make the promise of an effect. [00:59:45] For if the inheritance be of the law, [00:59:48] it is no more a promise. [00:59:50] So if you get your inheritance of righteousness [00:59:53] and salvation and right standing with God and blessing, [00:59:56] if you get that through the law, [00:59:59] or you try to get it through the law, [01:00:02] you cannot get it through faith and through the promise [01:00:05] because that's where your faith is. [01:00:09] And then he goes on and he says, [01:00:10] wherefore then serveth the law? [01:00:12] What was the purpose of the law? [01:00:13] It was added because of transgressions [01:00:17] till the seed should come. [01:00:19] It was added. [01:00:19] Listen to this, folks. [01:00:20] The law was added 430 years after Abraham [01:00:24] until the seed or Christ would come. [01:00:26] What does untill mean? [01:00:30] That would be a definite end. [01:00:34] The law was untill. [01:00:36] It's interesting there's a verse, [01:00:37] I can't remember where it is, where it says, [01:00:38] the law and the prophets were until John. [01:00:42] Then, something different. [01:00:44] Glory to God. [01:00:45] I thank God for the law of faith and the law of grace. [01:00:48] Amen. [01:00:50] I love it. [01:00:51] Because listen, I'm gonna tell you, [01:00:52] this old boy right here, [01:00:54] I love Jesus and I've tried to live a godly Christian life, [01:00:57] but I fall short sometimes. [01:00:59] And I thank God and I don't have to try [01:01:01] to keep every single jot and tittle [01:01:04] and that I can go to God and go, you know what? [01:01:06] It's by grace through faith. [01:01:10] I don't have to do all that stuff. [01:01:11] I don't have to go earn my forgiveness. [01:01:13] I don't have to go, you know, [01:01:16] keep the Feast of Tabernacles all weekend [01:01:19] and live in a tent for a week or under a booth. [01:01:22] I don't have to do that. [01:01:23] Now, some people say, well, we're gonna do that [01:01:25] during the millennial reign. [01:01:26] We're not in the millennial reign, okay? [01:01:32] We'll do what Jesus wants us to do in those days. [01:01:34] But guess what? [01:01:35] We're not gonna be sacrificing animals anymore. [01:01:36] I know there's some of these people. [01:01:38] Listen, I read this week, [01:01:41] there's one of these leading Torah observant teachers [01:01:45] that actually on Passover sacrifices a lamb. [01:01:49] A real lamb cuts its throat, sacrifices it, [01:01:54] and does Passover. [01:01:56] A Christian, exactly. [01:01:58] I wonder if he smears the blood on his doorpost. [01:02:04] Let me tell you something. [01:02:06] I don't need the blood of a lamb [01:02:08] when I have the blood of the healing of God. [01:02:15] So let's keep reading here. [01:02:17] Somebody will say, this is good. [01:02:18] This is Bible college class right here. [01:02:23] He says, wherefore then, verse 19, serviced the law. [01:02:25] It was added because of transgressions [01:02:26] till the seed should come to whom the promise was made. [01:02:29] And it was ordained by angels in the hand of the mediator. [01:02:31] Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one. [01:02:34] Is the law then against the promises of God? [01:02:37] God forbid. [01:02:38] For if there had been a law given, [01:02:40] which could have given life, [01:02:41] barely righteousness should have been by the law. [01:02:44] So he's telling you right there, [01:02:45] the law couldn't give life. [01:02:47] But the scripture hath concluded all understand sin [01:02:51] that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ [01:02:53] might be given to them that believe. [01:02:55] Now listen to verse 23 and verse 24 and 25. [01:02:58] He says, but before faith came, [01:03:01] before faith came, we were kept under the law. [01:03:05] Shut up under faith, which should afterwards be revealed. [01:03:09] Wherefore the law was our school master, [01:03:13] that we might be justified by faith. [01:03:15] But after that faith has come, [01:03:18] we are no longer under the school master. [01:03:20] So let me show you something. [01:03:21] He gives the picture here, the school master. [01:03:24] He says the law is our school master. [01:03:26] So everybody ought to say law equals school master. [01:03:32] So he said we were under the law until faith came, [01:03:36] until the redemption came, [01:03:38] until Jesus came and fulfilled it and redeemed us [01:03:41] from the curse of the law, [01:03:42] paid for our sin, fulfilled every bit of it. [01:03:45] And he says here that when faith comes, [01:03:48] he says, but after faith comes, [01:03:50] we are no longer under the school master. [01:03:53] The school master is also what he's saying there [01:03:56] is once you enter into faith in Jesus Christ, [01:03:59] you are no longer under the law of Moses. [01:04:03] There is no requirement, period, end of discussion. [01:04:06] You don't have to do any of it, none, zero, nada, zip. [01:04:13] You see that? [01:04:14] And see, here's the thing. [01:04:15] Faith is under the school master. [01:04:17] I am teaching her, I am training her, [01:04:20] but I'm bringing her to a place where she will graduate. [01:04:25] So stand up my dear. [01:04:30] And so now she graduates, turn around here. [01:04:36] So she graduates and guess what? [01:04:38] She leaves this school master [01:04:40] and she leaves this teacher and she leaves this school. [01:04:44] She's no longer under those teachers, [01:04:46] no longer under that school authority. [01:04:49] She's going out now under new leadership. [01:04:55] Does that mean she throws away what she learned? [01:04:57] No, but she's no longer under. [01:05:01] She's no longer required to obey the school, [01:05:03] the teacher, the school master. [01:05:06] Can that be any clearer? [01:05:09] Yet these Torah teachers will say, [01:05:12] oh, these people say we're not under the law [01:05:15] are just crazy false teachers who hate Yahweh's commandments. [01:05:22] Okay. [01:05:24] No, sir, we are no longer under the school master. [01:05:27] There was a season for that, all right? [01:05:32] Now, may I have the rest of my assistance? [01:05:41] Yes, we're gonna jump over to Galatians four [01:05:46] and look at the allegory of the two covenants. [01:05:52] So the allegory of the two covenants. [01:05:54] Just for those of you up here, [01:05:56] I have two little sets of people here, two little families. [01:06:00] This is the bond woman and her children. [01:06:04] And this is the free woman and her children. [01:06:07] And we'll explain that in just a second. [01:06:09] But let's read the verses first. [01:06:11] This is Galatians chapter four, verses 21 through 26. [01:06:15] Everybody with me? [01:06:16] Galatians four, 21 through 26. [01:06:20] Again, boy, this one gets even more severe, all right? [01:06:25] The allegory of the two covenants. [01:06:27] And he starts this little discussion here. [01:06:31] He says, tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, [01:06:36] do you not hear the law? [01:06:39] Now, what is that telling you? [01:06:40] He's talking to people who wanna, [01:06:42] I wanna keep the feast. [01:06:45] You that desire to be under the law, [01:06:47] I want to keep the feast. [01:06:48] I wanna keep the Sabbath and Sabbath. [01:06:49] I want to be more pleasing to God [01:06:52] than these heathen Sunday worshipers and shrimp eaters. [01:06:56] I want to be, I desire it. [01:07:00] Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, [01:07:03] do you not hear the law? [01:07:05] For it is written that Abraham had two sons, [01:07:09] the one by a bond woman and the other by a free woman. [01:07:14] But he who was of the bond woman was born after the flesh, [01:07:17] but he who was of the free woman was a promise. [01:07:21] Which things are an allegory, [01:07:25] for these are the two covenants? [01:07:28] Everybody say, these are the two covenants. [01:07:34] The bond woman, the free woman. [01:07:39] He said, these are an allegory, [01:07:42] for these are the two covenants, [01:07:43] the one from Mount Sinai, [01:07:46] which was the law of Moses, [01:07:49] the first covenant, the old covenant now, [01:07:52] which gendereth to bondage, which is Hagar. [01:07:55] So what he's talking about here, [01:07:56] the bond woman and her son was the servant slave, [01:08:02] Hagar, the Egyptian. [01:08:04] And when Abraham and Sarah got in the flesh [01:08:07] and they didn't wait on God, [01:08:08] they got out of faith and into their own works, [01:08:12] decided that Abraham should have relations [01:08:16] with Hagar to get the son God promised, [01:08:19] but that was not God's plan at all. [01:08:21] And so what happened as the son, [01:08:24] finally the son of the promise of faith was born, [01:08:27] Isaac, through Sarah, a miracle supernatural [01:08:30] by the Holy Spirit, not by the flesh, [01:08:34] as they grew together in the household, [01:08:35] the son of the bond woman began to persecute [01:08:40] the son of the free woman, [01:08:42] children of the free woman, all right? [01:08:45] So finally Abraham, the Lord tells Abraham, [01:08:49] cast out the bond woman, you gotta send her away. [01:08:52] She can't stay in the house with the free woman anymore. [01:08:55] Now listen to this, the bond woman he tells you, [01:08:58] this is an allegory or a picture of the two covenants. [01:09:03] The bond woman and her children are the covenant [01:09:07] from Sinai, the law, which is bondage. [01:09:11] These are not my words, these are scripture, all right? [01:09:15] He says the other is Jerusalem or Sarah, [01:09:21] the mother of the free, that's by the Spirit. [01:09:25] Now notice what he says right here. [01:09:29] He says in the next verses, [01:09:32] Galatians 4, 27 through 31, I'm gonna read it. [01:09:35] For it is written, rejoice thou barren that berest, [01:09:38] and break not forth and cry, [01:09:39] thou that travailest not, [01:09:41] for the desolate hath many more children [01:09:43] than she which hath a husband. [01:09:44] Now we brethren, as Isaac was, [01:09:47] are children of promise. [01:09:48] But as then, he that was born after the flesh [01:09:52] persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, [01:09:53] even so it is now. [01:09:56] See, it's quite amazing. [01:09:57] This is why I get called all kinds of names. [01:10:00] These people are in this Torah movement, [01:10:01] oh, you're a hypocrite, you're a heathen, [01:10:03] you're this, you're that, you know. [01:10:06] But it's really a lot of meanness and persecution. [01:10:09] It's that Pharisee spirit. [01:10:11] He says this, look at what he says now. [01:10:14] Nevertheless, what sayeth the scripture? [01:10:19] Cast out the bond woman. [01:10:20] If the bond woman represents the covenant from Sinai [01:10:26] that genders to bondage, hold up your chains, [01:10:29] show them your chains, bondage family. [01:10:35] He says, cast out the bond woman and her son. [01:10:38] So we cast them out. [01:10:40] We cast out the bond woman and her children. [01:10:44] That is the covenant from Sinai. [01:10:47] That is the law of Moses. [01:10:52] And notice what he goes on. [01:10:54] He says, cast out the bond woman and her son, [01:10:56] which represents the old covenant from Sinai. [01:11:00] And it says, listen to this, [01:11:02] the son of the bond woman shall not be heir [01:11:07] with the son of the free woman. [01:11:10] So then, brethren, we born-again Christians, [01:11:13] New Testament Christians, [01:11:14] we are not children of the bond woman, [01:11:16] but of the free. [01:11:18] Oh, can I say this? [01:11:20] I am not a child of the law. [01:11:25] I am a born-again son of God by faith in Jesus Christ [01:11:29] because he gave me power to become a son of God. [01:11:33] I am of the free. [01:11:35] I am free. [01:11:36] I am at liberty. [01:11:37] I am not under any aspect of the law of Moses. [01:11:42] Cast out the bond woman. [01:11:44] Can you be any more clear? [01:11:46] He just said, we're not under a school master. [01:11:48] We're not under the law. [01:11:49] He said, cast out the bond woman, [01:11:51] which is the covenant from Sinai. [01:11:52] Cast out the bond woman. [01:11:59] Y'all maybe saying thank you for your assistance. [01:12:02] My last illustration here, [01:12:07] Ahmed, the dead Torah terrorist right here, [01:12:14] who's fallen from grace because he wants to keep the law. [01:12:18] All right, let me look at this. [01:12:22] Everybody go with me. [01:12:24] Two Romans chapter seven. [01:12:28] This is an important point. [01:12:29] This is my final main point, really. [01:12:33] Remember, I called this morning the school master, [01:12:35] the bond woman, and the dead husband, okay? [01:12:39] Why? [01:12:40] Look at this. [01:12:42] Romans seven, one through six. [01:12:46] The apostle Paul writes here, [01:12:47] by inspiration of the Holy Ghost. [01:12:48] Know ye not, brethren, [01:12:50] for I speak to them that know the law. [01:12:54] So who's he speaking to? [01:12:55] Heathen barbarians who don't know the law? [01:12:59] No, he's speaking to people who know the law of Moses. [01:13:01] So actually he's speaking to his people. [01:13:05] He says, know ye not, brethren, [01:13:07] for I speak to them that know the law. [01:13:09] How that the law hath dominion over man [01:13:11] as long as he liveth. [01:13:14] He says, for the woman which hath a husband [01:13:17] is bound by the law to her husband [01:13:20] so long as he liveth. [01:13:21] But if the husband be dead, [01:13:24] she is loosed from the law of her husband, okay? [01:13:29] Y'all stay with me. [01:13:30] So then if while her husband liveth, [01:13:33] she be married to another man, [01:13:34] she shall be called an adulteress. [01:13:36] But if her husband be dead, [01:13:37] she is freed from that law [01:13:40] so that she is no adulteress [01:13:42] though she be married to another man. [01:13:44] Wherefore, my brother, [01:13:45] ye also are become dead to the law [01:13:50] by the body of Christ [01:13:52] that you should be married to another [01:13:54] even to him who is raised from the dead [01:13:57] that you should bring forth fruit unto God. [01:14:00] Let me explain something here. [01:14:02] The illustration that Paul is giving here [01:14:06] is that the law is a husband [01:14:08] that you used to be married to, okay? [01:14:13] This is the picture. [01:14:13] This is the illustration. [01:14:15] The law is a husband [01:14:17] and as long as that thing, that law, [01:14:20] that law husband, as long as he was alive, [01:14:24] you were bound to him. [01:14:28] Hear what it's saying. [01:14:29] The law had to die to free you [01:14:31] to be married to another. [01:14:38] And that's why Paul says [01:14:41] that the law now is the dead husband [01:14:46] and we are free from that law [01:14:49] to be married to another, [01:14:50] to be married to the Lord Jesus Christ. [01:14:55] You can't be under the law [01:14:58] and be married to Jesus Christ. [01:15:03] If so, you're cheating on him. [01:15:07] Now let me tell you, [01:15:08] for the Christian who accepts Jesus by faith [01:15:12] as Lord and Savior, [01:15:13] how did you get saved by works? [01:15:16] Did you get saved by doing and obeying some law [01:15:19] or ritual or ceremony of Moses? [01:15:20] No, you got saved by believing in your heart [01:15:23] and confessing with your mouth the Lord Jesus. [01:15:24] You got saved by faith. [01:15:27] And so you got married to Jesus by faith. [01:15:33] Therefore, it means that your old husband, [01:15:37] the law must be dead [01:15:39] so that you are loosed from that law, [01:15:41] from that law husband that's dead [01:15:43] so that you can marry the one who rose from the dead. [01:15:46] But let me tell you, [01:15:47] if you desire to go back under the law, [01:15:50] as Paul said, it is a yoke of bondage. [01:15:54] He said it makes Christ not affect you. [01:15:55] What you're doing to Jesus [01:15:57] when you say, I'm gonna go back under [01:15:58] and try to keep the law to be more right. [01:16:02] To be acceptable, good mouth. [01:16:03] To be better. [01:16:06] When you say that, what you're doing [01:16:09] is you've got this living husband who loves you. [01:16:14] And what you're doing is you're saying, [01:16:16] you know what, Jesus? [01:16:19] How I got saved. [01:16:21] How we got engaged. [01:16:23] Our first love, not good enough. [01:16:24] I need to go back to the dead husband. [01:16:27] I need to go back to the law. [01:16:28] And I need to dig it up. [01:16:30] This rotting corpse. [01:16:36] I wanna dig up my old husband and go hang out with him. [01:16:41] Why do you wanna go back to the dead? [01:16:47] Why do you wanna go back? [01:16:54] See, I don't wanna dig up the dead. [01:17:02] Think about it. [01:17:03] If Nancy had an ex-husband who was dead and in the ground [01:17:08] and been rotting for some time. [01:17:10] And she said, you know what, I know you love me. [01:17:14] I know you care about me and you provide for me. [01:17:18] And we have a good relationship and we love each other. [01:17:21] But that's just not enough. [01:17:23] I gotta go back to my dead husband. [01:17:29] I gotta go dig him up and hang out with him. [01:17:32] You know what I'm gonna say? [01:17:32] After I say, you're crazy person. [01:17:40] I'm gonna say, tell you what, here's your shovel. [01:17:48] You're crazy. [01:17:54] It is an insult to Jesus to say, you're not enough. [01:18:02] I need the dead husband of the law to make me feel better, [01:18:12] to make me more righteous, to make me feel loved [01:18:18] or accepted or whatever. [01:18:20] And honestly, I'm gonna be very honest with you. [01:18:24] And I have been about this from the beginning [01:18:31] that there are so many people being deceived [01:18:34] by these false teachers [01:18:36] because it starts with good intentions. [01:18:40] I wanna please God. [01:18:42] I love what Jesus, when they ask Jesus, [01:18:44] what do we do that we may do the works of God? [01:18:48] You know what he says? [01:18:49] This is the work of God. [01:18:52] Believe in whom he is sent. [01:18:56] It's a beautiful picture. [01:19:00] It's so beautiful. [01:19:03] And the blood of Jesus is enough. [01:19:10] Romans seven goes on to say this. [01:19:12] He doesn't even say, I'm the law, I'm dead to the law. [01:19:17] I mean, think about that term. [01:19:19] How can you be dead to the law [01:19:23] but yet you're trying to keep it? [01:19:25] Romans seven, five and six says this, [01:19:27] for when we were in the flesh, [01:19:30] the motions of sins which were by the law [01:19:33] did work at our members [01:19:34] to bring forth fruit into death. [01:19:36] But now we are delivered from the law [01:19:40] that being dead wherein we were held [01:19:43] that we should serve in newness of life [01:19:47] and not in the oldest of the living, [01:19:48] delivered from the law. [01:19:51] The Torah teachers will say, [01:19:53] you're not delivered from the law, [01:19:53] you still gotta keep it. [01:19:55] You should keep it. [01:19:57] You should wanna keep it. [01:19:58] If you don't, something's wrong with you. [01:20:02] No, I'm delivered from it. [01:20:04] I'm free from it. [01:20:05] I'm not under it anymore. [01:20:08] It's not my schoolmaster. [01:20:10] I'm not married to it anymore. [01:20:15] I'm walking with Jesus. [01:20:17] Can I say this? [01:20:18] I'm walking with Jesus, not Moses. [01:20:26] I think Moses is a great guy. [01:20:28] Can't wait to sit down with him and chat. [01:20:34] But you know, Deuteronomy 18, [01:20:35] there is a prophecy in Moses' game about a prophet. [01:20:38] He said, a prophet's gonna come like me. [01:20:42] And he was talking about Jesus. [01:20:43] He said, there's a prophet. [01:20:44] And what did Moses do? [01:20:45] Moses gave the first covenant. [01:20:47] He said, but there's gonna be one covenant [01:20:48] that's gonna be like me. [01:20:49] And what was he talking about like him? [01:20:51] Of course, Jesus is different. [01:20:52] Jesus is God in the flesh. [01:20:54] But he's saying there's gonna come another [01:20:55] that's gonna institute a covenant. [01:20:59] I instituted the new, [01:21:00] there's gonna come another one [01:21:01] that's gonna institute another covenant. [01:21:05] The book of Jeremiah, the book of Ezekiel, [01:21:07] all say there was gonna be a new covenant. [01:21:17] Some people say, well, [01:21:18] Paul's not talking about being dead [01:21:20] to the law, but yes, he confirms it. [01:21:24] Galatians, let's go to Galatians two real quick. [01:21:26] We only got a couple more slides. [01:21:27] We're almost done. [01:21:30] Galatians two. [01:21:31] He uses the phrase again, [01:21:33] dead to the law. [01:21:37] Right, look at this. [01:21:38] For through the law, I am dead to the law [01:21:42] that I might live under God. [01:21:44] Now before, see, I did this this morning on purpose. [01:21:50] Because you know what I'm doing? [01:21:52] I'm putting it in overload. [01:21:54] Because these are all the statements they say, [01:21:57] just come from us preachers. [01:22:00] I wanna show the righteousness without law, [01:22:04] free from the law, dead to the law, [01:22:06] no longer under the law. [01:22:08] These are all phrases in the Bible, [01:22:11] in the New Testament, in the book of Galatians. [01:22:12] For through the law, I am dead to the law [01:22:15] that I might live under God. [01:22:17] I am crucified with Christ. [01:22:19] Nevertheless, I live, yet not I, [01:22:20] but Christ liveth in me [01:22:22] and the life which I now live in the flesh [01:22:24] I live by the faith of the Son of God [01:22:26] who loved me and gave himself for me. [01:22:28] I do not frustrate the grace of God. [01:22:32] For if righteousness came or come by the law, [01:22:35] then Christ is dead in vain. [01:22:38] If you need the law of Moses to be righteous, [01:22:41] then Jesus didn't come, [01:22:43] him coming is in vain. [01:22:45] And if that is what you're doing, [01:22:48] then you are frustrating the grace of God. [01:22:53] And what is the grace of God? [01:22:54] The grace of God is the Holy Spirit of grace [01:22:57] who wants an intimate relationship with you, [01:22:59] who wants to show you things to come, [01:23:01] who wants to speak to you and guide you and lead your life. [01:23:04] If you're going back to the deeds of the law, [01:23:06] you are frustrated. [01:23:08] The spirit of grace. [01:23:12] This is not my words, these are yours. [01:23:16] And finally, Jesus thoroughly dealt with [01:23:24] the law of commandments. [01:23:26] See, here's the, we ended the worship service [01:23:30] a few minutes ago with a song I love. [01:23:34] It's one of my favorite songs, the simple gospel. [01:23:38] It's one of my absolute favorite songs [01:23:39] in the whole world right now. [01:23:42] Because Jesus' death didn't just deal with sin, [01:23:49] it says here, you're gonna see, [01:23:51] he abolished the law and commandment contained in order. [01:23:56] Let's read this passage, Ephesians 2, 13 through 17. [01:24:01] But now, in Christ Jesus, [01:24:05] ye who were sometimes, were far off, [01:24:07] are made nigh by the blood of Christ. [01:24:10] For he is our peace, who hath broken, [01:24:13] who hath made both one and hath broken down [01:24:16] the middle wall of partition between us, [01:24:18] having abolished in his flesh the enmity, [01:24:22] even the law of commandments contained in ordinances. [01:24:26] When Jesus died on the cross, [01:24:29] he was not just abolishing sin, [01:24:33] sickness, Satan's power. [01:24:36] He was abolishing even the law of commandments [01:24:41] contained in ordinances. [01:24:43] He fulfilled it. [01:24:49] See, people take him out of context. [01:24:50] When he said, I think not that I'm come to destroy the law, [01:24:53] that is as he was ministering. [01:24:57] He said, I didn't come here to destroy anything. [01:24:58] I came to fulfill or complete. [01:25:02] But when he stretched his hands out [01:25:04] and he was nailed to the cross [01:25:06] and he shed his sinless blood for me and for you [01:25:10] and for everyone who had received him, [01:25:13] when he did that, when he said the words, it is finished. [01:25:20] He wasn't just talking about the payment for sin. [01:25:23] He was talking about the law of Moses [01:25:25] and the requirements of the law. [01:25:28] It is finished. [01:25:31] It's done. [01:25:32] You don't have to do it anymore. [01:25:34] Believe in me, walk with me, love me. [01:25:47] Jesus having abolished in his flesh the enmity, [01:25:51] even the law of commandments contained in ordinances [01:25:55] for to make in himself of twain one new man, [01:25:58] so making peace, [01:26:00] and that he might reconcile both into God in one body [01:26:03] by the cross, having slain the enmity thereof [01:26:05] and came and preached peace to you, [01:26:07] which were far off into them that were not. [01:26:12] So, according to the word of God, not pastor name, [01:26:19] there is righteousness without the law [01:26:22] that we have through Jesus Christ. [01:26:24] We are dead to the law, delivered from the law. [01:26:28] Jesus nailed it. [01:26:29] In fact, the book of Colossians chapter two says [01:26:32] he took it away, [01:26:34] blotting out the handwriting of ordinances [01:26:36] and took it away, nailing it to his cross. [01:26:39] He took it away. [01:26:40] He abolished it. [01:26:47] Yes, sir. [01:26:48] Go ahead. [01:26:53] Let's read it. [01:26:54] I agree. [01:26:55] Galatians one, six through 10. [01:27:00] So in the context, yeah, [01:27:01] I mean, in the context of this entire idea, [01:27:08] going back to keep the law, [01:27:09] required to keep the law, [01:27:11] do we have to be circumcised? [01:27:12] Do we have to keep Sabbaths and feasts and new moons? [01:27:18] Be circumcised. [01:27:22] The whole book is about this. [01:27:23] Listen, if anybody tells you different, [01:27:25] I mean, chapter two, [01:27:26] he rebukes Peter for getting wishy-washy. [01:27:30] There for a minute. [01:27:31] It says, Peter, you're trying to compel the Gentiles [01:27:33] to live as do the Jews. [01:27:34] You're not walking upright according to the gospel, [01:27:37] the truth of the gospel. [01:27:40] So the whole context of the whole book. [01:27:43] And so six through, what'd you say, 12? [01:27:47] Six through 10. [01:27:49] Galatians. [01:27:50] So we're gonna find out who's preaching the true gospel, [01:27:53] who's preaching the false gospel. [01:27:54] Us good old Protestant preachers, [01:27:57] declaring justification by faith, [01:27:59] or the Torah teachers that teach in question your salvation [01:28:02] if you don't keep the law of Moses. [01:28:04] Who's preaching a false gospel? [01:28:06] Let's read it. [01:28:09] He said in verse six, [01:28:13] he says, I marvel that you are so soon removed [01:28:16] from him that called you into the grace of Christ [01:28:20] unto another gospel, which is not another, [01:28:23] but there be some that trouble you [01:28:24] and would pervert the gospel of Christ. [01:28:27] But though we or an angel from heaven [01:28:29] preach any other gospel unto you, [01:28:31] than that which we have preached, [01:28:32] let him be accursed. [01:28:34] As we said before, so say I now again, [01:28:36] if any man preach any other gospel unto you, [01:28:39] than that which you have received, let him be accursed. [01:28:42] For do I now persuade men or God? [01:28:44] Or do I seek to please men? [01:28:46] For if I yet pleased men, [01:28:47] I should not be the servant of Christ. [01:28:49] He says, but I certify to you, brethren, [01:28:51] that the gospel which was preached of me [01:28:53] is not after man, for I neither received it of man, [01:28:57] neither was taught it, but by revelation of Jesus Christ. [01:29:02] So there it is. [01:29:04] And he goes on from that moment [01:29:08] to put a difference between seeking righteousness, [01:29:11] right standing fruit in the law or in faith. [01:29:18] I don't know how I could be any more clear. [01:29:25] So the individual that accuses me of being in gross error, [01:29:30] the individual that accuses me [01:29:31] of preaching the false gospel, it is really him. [01:29:36] He is the one preaching a false gospel. [01:29:39] He is the one troubling the church [01:29:45] and judgment is gonna be upon him. [01:29:50] That's not a prophecy, that's not Pastor Dean's words. [01:29:55] That's what we read a minute ago in the book. [01:29:56] Those who trouble you by requiring the law of Moses, [01:30:00] threatening, questioning your salvation, [01:30:02] questioning if you're even a Christian. [01:30:10] I'm tempted to say his name, but he's only, listen, [01:30:13] he's only one of many. [01:30:16] I looked at others, I looked at some of his teachers [01:30:21] and some of his teachers are worse. [01:30:31] Folks, this is serious business. [01:30:37] As I said before, I'm gonna say it again. [01:30:41] Living under grace, not a license to sin, did we see that? [01:30:45] Does the New Testament have a standard [01:30:48] of not walking after the flesh, [01:30:49] but walking after the spirit? [01:30:50] Yes, it does. [01:30:54] Are we required though to go back under the law of Moses? [01:30:57] No. [01:31:00] So when the New Testament talks about [01:31:01] keeping God's commandments, [01:31:04] it is not referring to keeping the law of Moses, [01:31:07] it is referring to the new covenant law of faith, [01:31:12] the law of Christ, the law written by the apostles [01:31:18] of not walking in the works of the flesh [01:31:21] in a habitual manner, amen? [01:31:26] And again, this is coming from a pastor [01:31:27] who wrote the book, Grace Abuse, okay? [01:31:32] So if you say that I'm advocating, I'm an anti-nominee, [01:31:37] meaning I'm anti-law, I'm anti-morality, I'm anti-holiness, [01:31:43] all right, I don't like God's commandments, [01:31:46] all of those are lies, not true. [01:31:51] Now there's some, listen, [01:31:52] there's some false teachers out there, [01:31:53] just remember this, there's a road [01:31:57] and on both sides of this road, there's a deep ditch. [01:32:01] On both sides. [01:32:03] On one side, you've got the hyper-grace, [01:32:07] once saved, always saved, no matter how you live, [01:32:09] truly anti-nominal, I mean, even to the point of summer, [01:32:13] even into unconditional salvation, [01:32:15] which means you can just do whatever you want, [01:32:17] as long as you believe, you do whatever you want. [01:32:19] That's one ditch. [01:32:22] The other ditch is over here, [01:32:24] we've got to go back and keep the law of Moses [01:32:27] to be right, to be righteous, to be acceptable, [01:32:30] we've got to go, so you've got a ditch. [01:32:33] Should we drive our car into either ditch? [01:32:38] No, we should not. [01:32:41] And let me say this, according to scripture, [01:32:44] either ditch is very dangerous [01:32:49] and can lead people away from a relationship with Jesus [01:32:53] and lead them to eternal damnation, either direction. [01:33:00] As we say, keep it in the road, right? [01:33:04] Let's keep it in the road. [01:33:07] I want us to stand this morning [01:33:17] and for the one who says I'm angry out there, [01:33:20] yes I am, I get a little upset [01:33:24] when God's sheep and God's lambs, God's people [01:33:28] are being misled and I don't care which ditch it's in. [01:33:37] Listen, I get fired up, I got fired up [01:33:38] about the whole contemplative mysticism, [01:33:42] the Eastern mysticism that's been creeping [01:33:44] into the church world. [01:33:47] I don't like to see God's people deceived, [01:33:49] lied to, having the scriptures twisted [01:33:54] and getting them over into one of these ditch, [01:33:56] either the law ditch or the hyper grace ditch. [01:34:02] Balance, Danielson, balance. [01:34:13] What I want to do before we leave this morning, [01:34:15] I want to do simple gospel again [01:34:16] and I want us to worship with that song. [01:34:20] As we close out this service [01:34:23] and we will not look at Ahmed, the dead Torah terrorist, [01:34:30] laws, dead and buried. [01:34:33] And this is not rest in peace, [01:34:35] this is redeemed in peace. [01:34:37] I'm redeemed. [01:34:38] Amen? [01:34:40] Let me tell you something. [01:34:42] Folks out there that want to talk [01:34:44] about the Sabbath and the rest, [01:34:47] Isaiah 28 tells you what rest, the real rest is. [01:34:52] You know what the real rest is? [01:34:54] God said, for with stammering lips [01:34:55] and another tongue will he speak to this people. [01:34:57] Some of the baptism of the Holy Spirit, [01:34:59] the infilling of the Holy Spirit, [01:35:00] the gifts of the Holy Spirit, [01:35:01] the fullness that we're supposed to have [01:35:03] in the new covenant. [01:35:04] He says, this is the rest. [01:35:12] Let the Holy Spirit filling you be your rest, [01:35:17] your Sabbath. [01:35:19] Amen? [01:35:21] I'd rather encounter a group of people [01:35:25] filled with the Holy Ghost, [01:35:27] speaking in tongues, interpreting tongues, [01:35:29] healing the sick, casting out devils, [01:35:31] prophesying, discerning spirits, [01:35:34] walking in faith and miracles. [01:35:36] I'd rather see that than a million people [01:35:39] trying to keep the Sabbath on Saturday. [01:35:42] Make sure we don't do anything. [01:35:45] No, it's ridiculous. [01:35:47] Be filled with the Holy Ghost. [01:35:49] That should be our goal. [01:35:50] Be filled with the Holy Spirit. [01:35:55] That's what I want more of. [01:35:57] I don't want to strive [01:35:58] to see how much of the law I can keep. [01:36:00] I want to see how much of Jesus, [01:36:02] how much of his Holy Spirit I can get in me [01:36:05] and working through me to help somebody. [01:36:09] Remember, Jesus got angry [01:36:10] when he came into the synagogue on the Sabbath day [01:36:12] and there was a man with a withered hand. [01:36:16] And they were just waiting. [01:36:17] He says, the Pharisee, they were waiting. [01:36:19] Is he going to heal on the Sabbath day? [01:36:21] Is he going to heal on the Sabbath? [01:36:22] Is he going to do a work on the Sabbath day? [01:36:25] And Jesus called the man forth [01:36:27] and he asked him a question. [01:36:28] Is it lawful to do good on the Sabbath day [01:36:30] or to do evil? [01:36:31] Don't you love that question? [01:36:33] And it says they held their peace. [01:36:35] Stubborn religious folks. [01:36:38] They held their peace. [01:36:39] And Jesus said, stretch forth your hand. [01:36:43] And his hand was made whole. [01:36:43] And it says, Jesus being angry, [01:36:46] looked around on them with anger. [01:36:47] He was angry at that. [01:36:49] He was angry because they couldn't see [01:36:51] that the real issue of the Sabbath [01:36:54] is to have the power of the Holy Spirit [01:36:56] and to be able to help somebody. [01:36:59] That's what he was angry about. [01:37:01] And he looked on them and he says, [01:37:02] he looked on them with anger [01:37:03] and he said, the man, stand forth. [01:37:04] Stretch your hand, hold. [01:37:06] And his hand was made whole. [01:37:08] And it said, they immediately conferred together [01:37:12] how they might destroy him. [01:37:17] Now who do you want? [01:37:19] The guy healing, the lame man on the Sabbath day [01:37:23] or the one who says, you're not keeping it like me. [01:37:28] Pretty simple. [01:37:29] Let's worship with this song. [01:37:32] Lord God, we will rejoice in the simple gospel. [01:37:36] We will rejoice in you. [01:37:37] Lord, we will rejoice in what you have done for us, [01:37:40] not what we can do by keeping some law. [01:37:47] Not about joy to try to keep the law. [01:37:52] My joy, Lord, is in you, what you've done. [01:37:57] Your cross, your blood, your righteousness, not mine. [01:38:05] I've never been able to do it. [01:38:10] I thank you, Lord, for love, for mercy, for grace. [01:38:22] I thank you, Lord, I don't have to work for it. [01:38:29] I pray that's made real to everyone. [01:38:39] Father, I pray this truth will penetrate every heart, [01:38:43] every life, that it'll penetrate the Christian [01:38:48] that's strayed into the law, [01:38:50] that it'll penetrate the Muslim that's wearied [01:38:54] by the Quran, that it'll penetrate the Hindu, [01:38:57] the Buddhist that go through all of these techniques [01:39:00] to try to find peace, that they'll find the Prince of Peace, [01:39:08] that they'll find that it's not of works, [01:39:12] that they just must believe in you [01:39:14] and give their lives over, [01:39:18] that they would seek you and not their works [01:39:24] or their own goodness. [01:39:28] God, I believe many will come to know what it means [01:39:32] to be justified freely by your grace [01:39:36] and by the blood of Jesus. [01:39:40] We thank you for it, and it's in Jesus' name. [01:39:45] And you know something, I just feel the presence [01:39:46] of God in here. [01:39:49] You know why? [01:39:52] Because even though it was a long message [01:39:53] and even though we dug deep, it's still the simple gospel. [01:39:59] It's about Jesus, not about us. [01:40:03] It's about what He did, not what we can do. [01:40:07] You know, I even have to tell my wife that sometimes. [01:40:09] She's not even a Torah observer, [01:40:11] but she's got a bit of a perfection. [01:40:14] She wants to do everything right. [01:40:15] There's nothing wrong with that. [01:40:17] But I have to remind her something. [01:40:18] It's not how long you pray. [01:40:20] It's not how much you read the Bible. [01:40:24] It's not how perfect you are, how good you are, [01:40:26] how spiritual you are, 24 seven. [01:40:31] He loves you for you. [01:40:39] He loves you when you're not perfect, [01:40:41] when you're screwing it up. [01:40:49] That's the good news. [01:40:51] You don't have to be perfect [01:40:55] and you can still be perfect. [01:40:58] Isn't that good? [01:41:02] Hallelujah.
