[00:01:16] It's still quite amazing.
[00:01:19] You know, it's been an amazing and wonderful year.
[00:01:23] We've had a lot of victories, a lot of battles.
[00:01:29] But I was just thinking about reflecting back over 2018, and it has been a good year.
[00:01:34] Not without difficulty, mind you.
[00:01:37] Anybody say they've had a few trials and difficulties this year?
[00:01:40] Yep. Yep.
[00:01:43] But you know something?
[00:01:47] You know, that's part of it. I mean, that's just the way it has to be.
[00:01:52] This has been one of those last few days where it's been just a battle for me in prayer and seeking God about what to share with you this morning.
[00:02:03] Even this morning when I got up praying, asking the Lord, he was like,
[00:02:08] I'll tell you during praise and worship what he said to me. So he did.
[00:02:12] So I hope you have your Bibles out this morning, because I'm just going to share what's on my heart with you.
[00:02:18] But let's turn first of all to 1 Corinthians 2.
[00:02:28] Actually, you know what? Let's go to 2 Corinthians. We're going to go to 1 Corinthians 2.
[00:02:32] But let's go to 2 Corinthians chapter 11 first. 2 Corinthians chapter 11.
[00:02:47] You know, I'm just going to tell you this right now that things are just going to get worse over the next few years.
[00:02:57] I hope you all know that. I'm preparing quite a few messages on the things that are transpiring just in recent weeks,
[00:03:07] but that are going to be gaining steam in the days ahead. Deception is going to get worse and worse.
[00:03:13] And I'm talking about among believers being deceived. Jesus said that.
[00:03:18] Jesus said deception is going to get worse and worse and deceivers are going to get worse and worse.
[00:03:23] And I'm just going to tell you right now, deception is rampant on very basic things that you would think Christians ought to know.
[00:03:35] Very basic things. But I see it getting worse in the days ahead.
[00:03:40] There's definitely the the snowball is rolling down the hill a lot faster concerning war.
[00:03:49] Russia, even Putin is talking about nuclear war with the United States this week.
[00:03:56] All of these things are speeding faster and faster. There's articles coming out that countries,
[00:04:02] there's three countries right now leading the way for a cashless society.
[00:04:06] And it's being pushed. I've talked about this over the last few years,
[00:04:10] but the goal for a lot of the international banking system was to be to move us all toward a cashless society.
[00:04:19] That the big, the really big push for them is 2020.
[00:04:24] That's their words, not mine. Whether they will accomplish that or not in 2020.
[00:04:30] But I'm just letting you know that that's that's the goal.
[00:04:33] So things are things are rolling on just as Jesus said.
[00:04:37] Now, remember, what did he say in Matthew 24?
[00:04:39] He said, take heed that no man deceive you.
[00:04:42] Signs of his coming. He said, take heed that no man deceive you.
[00:04:45] Many will come in my name and deceive many. All right.
[00:04:50] So he said deception is going to get worse and worse.
[00:04:52] He said that you're going to hear wars and rumors of wars. Boy, are we there.
[00:04:57] All right. Russia moving into the Ukraine, they'll probably try to take that this year.
[00:05:05] That's going to cause greater tensions.
[00:05:07] Chinese generals talking about firing on U.S. warships, the South China Sea.
[00:05:13] At any moment in time, things can spin out of control.
[00:05:18] I just want you to know these things are prophesied in the Bible that we will have them.
[00:05:21] OK, so I mean, I'm not predicting when they're going to happen.
[00:05:23] I'm just telling you that things are going to speed up over the next few years
[00:05:28] and that any moment these things can change.
[00:05:31] But Jesus warned primarily of deception increasing.
[00:05:35] Even people who claim to know Jesus would be deceiving people.
[00:05:39] Boy, is that ever true.
[00:05:40] Just wait till I got I've got some things to share with you over this next year.
[00:05:45] When we get into January and February,
[00:05:48] I think it's going to blow your mind how bad the falling away really is
[00:05:52] from Jesus, from the word, from New Testament Christianity.
[00:05:57] It's just amazing.
[00:05:59] The denial of Jesus as the Messiah is growing.
[00:06:03] The rejection of the New Testament is growing.
[00:06:07] Truly, the spirit of Antichrist is rising up even among believers.
[00:06:11] And there are many people beginning to deny the Lord Jesus themselves.
[00:06:15] And you're going to be your mind is going to be blown.
[00:06:20] But then Jesus said this after he said, you will hear wars and rumors of wars.
[00:06:23] This is all Matthew 24.
[00:06:25] He said, then they will deliver you up to be afflicted
[00:06:27] and they will kill you and you'll be hated of all nations for my namesake.
[00:06:31] What was he saying that he said persecution of Christians will increase.
[00:06:35] We're definitely going to see that in the days ahead.
[00:06:38] And it's not just physical persecution.
[00:06:40] It's psychological, mental, emotional, spiritual rejection.
[00:06:46] But we're going to see that increase.
[00:06:47] I'm just noticing that the level of animosity toward Christianity and Christians
[00:06:51] is definitely rising like the tide coming in.
[00:06:59] Jesus went on to say, of course, that and then he repeated himself again.
[00:07:03] He said, many false prophets will rise and deceive many.
[00:07:07] And because the iniquity will abound, the love of many will grow cold.
[00:07:11] Many will be offended.
[00:07:12] They'll betray one another and hate one another.
[00:07:15] And there's a great also spirit of offense that's rising even.
[00:07:20] And I'm talking about among believers.
[00:07:23] There's a spirit of offense being easily offended with one another.
[00:07:27] And that's growing.
[00:07:28] So all these things were foretold.
[00:07:30] And I did share a message on this passage a few weeks ago,
[00:07:33] but I'm going to focus in on a different part of it.
[00:07:35] But let's read 2 Corinthians 11, 1 through 4.
[00:07:42] Paul says here to the church,
[00:07:45] would to God that you could bear with me a little in my folly and indeed bear with me.
[00:07:50] For I am jealous over you with a godly jealousy,
[00:07:52] for I have espoused you to one husband that I may present you
[00:07:55] as a chase virgin to Christ.
[00:07:58] But I fear less by any means as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety.
[00:08:03] Just remember this in the days ahead.
[00:08:05] We're going to cover this.
[00:08:06] But the devil is very subtle in how he deceives people's minds.
[00:08:11] And I'm talking about Christians and gets them off track.
[00:08:15] Very subtle.
[00:08:16] It's very slick.
[00:08:18] But I fear less any means as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety,
[00:08:21] so your mind should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
[00:08:26] You need to underline that word.
[00:08:28] What is the devil trying to get you away from?
[00:08:31] The simplicity that is in Christ.
[00:08:34] We're going to look at what this word, the definition of this word in just a second.
[00:08:38] He says, for if he that cometh preaches another Jesus,
[00:08:41] whom you have not preached, that we have not preached,
[00:08:44] or if you receive another spirit, which you have not received,
[00:08:48] or another gospel, which you have not accepted, you might well bear with him.
[00:08:56] You know, you think about Paul, and I've said this before,
[00:08:58] the Apostle Paul was not a man who walked in fear.
[00:09:02] I mean, if you remember, Agabus the prophet warning
[00:09:05] that when he went to Jerusalem, he was going to be bound in chains
[00:09:08] and the disciples, the Christians there,
[00:09:12] tried to convince him not to go to Jerusalem.
[00:09:15] And Paul said, no, I'm going.
[00:09:17] I know it's God's will for me.
[00:09:18] And whatever happens, happens.
[00:09:19] This is not a man that walked in fear.
[00:09:21] He wasn't in fear of death.
[00:09:23] He wasn't in fear of being beaten or persecuted or thrown in prison,
[00:09:27] or, you know, or anything.
[00:09:28] But he said this one thing he feared,
[00:09:30] less by any means as the serpent beguiled Eve
[00:09:33] through his subtlety.
[00:09:34] So your mind should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Jesus Christ.
[00:09:40] Think about that.
[00:09:41] Your minds being corrupted from the simplicity that is in Jesus Christ.

[00:09:52] but the simple gospel is one of my favorite songs,
[00:09:55] but it really is simple.
[00:09:58] And this is what the devil's after.
[00:09:59] And let me read this definition.

[00:10:03] because I didn't know what I was preaching on.
[00:10:06] So this is the definition of this word.
[00:10:10] Let's see if we can, if you can hear it.
[00:10:11] Here's how to pronounce it.
[00:10:20] There we go.

[00:10:26] In the blue letter Bible,
[00:10:27] the outline of the biblical usage says here,
[00:10:31] singleness, simplicity, sincerity, mental honesty,
[00:10:37] a virtue of one who is free from pretense and hypocrisy,
[00:10:42] not self-seeking, openness of heart,
[00:10:44] manifesting itself by generosity.
[00:10:48] The word in the Strong's definition says singleness,
[00:10:52] i.e. sincerity, without dissimulation or self-seeking,
[00:10:57] generosity, bountifulness, liberality, simplicity, singleness.
[00:11:03] So as you see, the devil is really trying to corrupt our minds.
[00:11:10] I think some translations even say
[00:11:12] from single-minded devotion to Jesus.
[00:11:18] Keeping our minds focused on Jesus,
[00:11:22] who He is as the Savior,
[00:11:25] as the One who died for our sins,
[00:11:27] as the Lamb of God,
[00:11:28] as the sinless sacrifice,
[00:11:30] as the One born of a virgin born in Bethlehem,
[00:11:34] the One who died on the cross,
[00:11:35] the One who rose from the dead,
[00:11:36] the One who is called Wonderful Counselor,
[00:11:38] the Mighty God,
[00:11:39] the Everlasting Father and the Prince of Peace,
[00:11:42] the One who is called God in the flesh,
[00:11:46] the only true God, the Creator.
[00:11:49] The devil is trying to corrupt our minds
[00:11:51] from the simplicity of that.
[00:11:54] That He is God, that He is Creator,
[00:11:58] that He is the only Savior,
[00:12:00] He is the only way for forgiveness,
[00:12:02] He is the Healer,
[00:12:03] He is the Deliverer,
[00:12:05] and that He is going to be the soon-coming King.
[00:12:11] The days ahead, He will be the King.
[00:12:14] Of everything, He will return.
[00:12:16] And the devil is trying to get us away from that.
[00:12:19] And the distractions,
[00:12:21] I'm going to tell you,
[00:12:21] the distractions from that are many.
[00:12:26] The devil tries to get us away from,
[00:12:28] you know, rejoicing.
[00:12:29] You know, and I'm going to tell you right now,
[00:12:30] I rejoice.
[00:12:32] I rejoice in the righteousness of Jesus Christ,
[00:12:36] that He is my righteousness.
[00:12:39] I rejoice that it's His righteous blood
[00:12:42] that cleanses me.
[00:12:44] I rejoice that I don't have to go
[00:12:46] take a lamb or a goat or a bull
[00:12:49] or a calf or turtle doves
[00:12:52] or any other thing
[00:12:53] to some priest somewhere
[00:12:55] in some temple somewhere
[00:12:57] to kill and sacrifice for my sins.
[00:12:59] I am grateful that God Almighty Himself
[00:13:02] took on a human body
[00:13:04] and died for my sins.
[00:13:07] And right now,
[00:13:08] I believe it or not,
[00:13:08] there are people in the so-called
[00:13:11] Hebrew Roots Torah movement
[00:13:12] that are mocking that.
[00:13:16] It is unbelievable
[00:13:18] some of the things that I'm seeing
[00:13:20] and this whole departure
[00:13:24] from the simplicity of the Gospel.
[00:13:27] You know, when I talk about
[00:13:28] the simplicity, the sincerity,
[00:13:30] the single-minded devotion to Jesus,
[00:13:34] I was thinking while we were in worship,
[00:13:37] I was thinking about
[00:13:38] when God got a hold of me in 1987,
[00:13:44] when God finally convicted me
[00:13:45] of my sin and opened my eyes.
[00:13:49] I was blinded by Satan.
[00:13:50] I was blinded by my sin
[00:13:52] and He opened my eyes
[00:13:55] to the Gospel, the simple Gospel.
[00:13:58] Turn from your sin
[00:14:01] and follow Jesus
[00:14:03] if you want to go to heaven
[00:14:05] and you don't want to go to hell.
[00:14:06] I mean, that was the simple revelation
[00:14:09] that came to this 19-year-old
[00:14:12] who now, yesterday, turned 51.
[00:14:16] But it was a simple revelation.
[00:14:18] It was a simple truth.
[00:14:23] And you know what?
[00:14:26] I gave my life back to the Lord
[00:14:27] that day fully and completely.
[00:14:32] And it was by faith
[00:14:34] and it was just the revelation
[00:14:38] of what I could have with Him
[00:14:40] that I could know Him
[00:14:42] and hear His voice
[00:14:43] and be led by His Spirit
[00:14:45] and walk with Him
[00:14:46] and see His power
[00:14:47] and that's all I wanted.
[00:14:48] And I remember the joy
[00:14:52] of leaving my old life
[00:14:56] and reading.
[00:14:57] I started reading the New Testament.
[00:14:58] I had a New Testament.
[00:15:00] That's all I had at first.
[00:15:00] I had a little New Testament
[00:15:02] that had a little study guide
[00:15:04] and had all these different subjects.
[00:15:05] And you could just kind of...
[00:15:06] And then all it did
[00:15:07] was outline the Scriptures.
[00:15:08] It'd have a subject like salvation
[00:15:10] and it'd outline all these Scriptures.
[00:15:11] And I remember going through that study.
[00:15:13] Then I just remember reading
[00:15:14] the entire New Testament.
[00:15:16] And I'm going to tell you right now,
[00:15:18] there was nothing but joy.
[00:15:19] There was nothing but a single-minded devotion
[00:15:23] to Jesus
[00:15:24] and thankfulness
[00:15:25] for what He did for me on the cross
[00:15:27] and that He opened my eyes.
[00:15:29] That He set me free from sin
[00:15:31] and from the devil.
[00:15:33] And I began to see
[00:15:34] the power of the Holy Spirit
[00:15:35] work in my life.
[00:15:37] And we get away
[00:15:44] from that simplicity, don't we?
[00:15:47] You know, I didn't read anything
[00:15:49] in the New Testament
[00:15:51] that I needed to go back
[00:15:52] and keep Sabbaths and feasts
[00:15:54] and new moons
[00:15:54] and all this other stuff
[00:15:55] and that I better get worried
[00:15:57] about that.
[00:15:59] No, I just read the New Testament
[00:16:01] and rejoiced in my salvation
[00:16:05] and forgiveness
[00:16:06] and the cleansing blood of Jesus
[00:16:08] and what this new covenant meant.
[00:16:10] It was simple.
[00:16:14] Anything else is the subtlety
[00:16:17] of the devil trying to pull you away
[00:16:20] from rejoicing
[00:16:23] in what Jesus did on the cross
[00:16:25] in His resurrection.
[00:16:27] You hear what I'm saying?
[00:16:30] Anything else,
[00:16:31] anything that tries to diminish
[00:16:33] that at all in your life
[00:16:36] is satanic.
[00:16:41] That's why He said it's subtle.
[00:16:45] It's subtle.
[00:16:46] The devil can be so subtle
[00:16:48] to get you away from that,
[00:16:49] to try to complicate this thing.
[00:16:52] It's not complicated.
[00:16:55] See, let's go back
[00:16:55] to 1 Corinthians chapter 2
[00:16:58] that I had you turn to a minute ago.
[00:17:01] 1 Corinthians chapter 2.
[00:17:05] When you think about that,
[00:17:06] then when Paul says this right here
[00:17:09] under the inspiration
[00:17:10] of the Holy Spirit,
[00:17:12] when Paul says this,
[00:17:15] you understand what he's talking about.
[00:17:17] Not that we don't have to listen.
[00:17:18] As a pastor,
[00:17:19] I have to deal with all kinds of things.
[00:17:20] I have to deal with marital issues.
[00:17:22] I have to deal with people
[00:17:25] with demonic problems
[00:17:26] and people that have
[00:17:28] all kinds of different things going on.
[00:17:30] He's not saying
[00:17:31] we don't have to deal with life
[00:17:32] or we don't have to go to work
[00:17:34] or go to school
[00:17:35] or deal with family issues
[00:17:38] or whatever,
[00:17:39] but he's saying here
[00:17:41] he's just making a point.
[00:17:43] Let's read this.
[00:17:43] He says, 1 Corinthians chapter 2 verse 1,
[00:17:48] he says,
[00:17:49] and we'll read through verse 5.
[00:17:52] He says,
[00:17:52] And I, brethren, when I came to you,
[00:17:54] came not with excellency of speech
[00:17:56] or of wisdom,
[00:17:57] declaring unto you the testimony of God.
[00:18:00] For I determined not to know
[00:18:02] anything among you,
[00:18:02] save Jesus Christ
[00:18:04] and him crucified.
[00:18:06] Now think about that.
[00:18:07] What was Paul saying?
[00:18:08] I'm not going to deal
[00:18:08] with any other issue that arises
[00:18:10] or church problem
[00:18:13] or church issue or whatever.
[00:18:14] No, no, no.
[00:18:15] He didn't say that,
[00:18:16] but he was saying,
[00:18:16] I'm not going to let my mind.
[00:18:19] I'm not going to let my focus.
[00:18:20] I'm not going to let my priority
[00:18:23] ever be pulled away
[00:18:25] from this simple truth
[00:18:26] of Jesus Christ
[00:18:28] and him crucified.
[00:18:31] And what that means.
[00:18:34] You know what?
[00:18:34] This morning,
[00:18:35] I don't know about you guys,
[00:18:36] but I was enjoying worship.
[00:18:38] I was worshiping the Lord
[00:18:39] and praising the Lord
[00:18:40] and worshiping the Lord.
[00:18:41] Why?
[00:18:41] What was I rejoicing it?
[00:18:43] I was rejoicing in
[00:18:45] what he's done for me.
[00:18:47] I'm rejoicing in the fact
[00:18:49] that my sins are washed away
[00:18:51] by his precious blood.
[00:18:53] I was rejoicing in the fact
[00:18:54] that because of that blood
[00:18:56] washing my sins away,
[00:18:58] that now I have access
[00:18:59] to the throne of God
[00:19:00] at any moment in time
[00:19:03] that the veil is rent
[00:19:04] and I can enter in
[00:19:05] not by my righteousness,
[00:19:07] not by the righteousness of the law,
[00:19:09] but by faith in Jesus Christ
[00:19:11] and his faith in his blood
[00:19:13] all my life
[00:19:14] and that I can hear his voice
[00:19:15] and be led by his spirit
[00:19:17] and be filled with his spirit.
[00:19:19] What can be better than any of that?
[00:19:22] Nothing.
[00:19:25] That's what I'm saying.
[00:19:27] Why do people want to be?
[00:19:28] Why do they want to allow themselves
[00:19:32] to be pulled into these obsessions
[00:19:36] with other things?
[00:19:39] Do you rejoice
[00:19:41] in the simple gospel
[00:19:44] of Jesus Christ?
[00:19:47] Do you keep your focus
[00:19:50] on what he has done for you?
[00:19:53] Let me tell you, if you do,
[00:19:55] if you do keep your focus
[00:19:56] on the price he paid for you,
[00:20:00] the beating, the mocking,
[00:20:03] the being spat upon,
[00:20:06] the whip,
[00:20:08] the being nailed to the cross
[00:20:10] and hanging there for hours
[00:20:12] even though he never did a thing wrong
[00:20:16] and he did that for me
[00:20:17] and he did that for you.
[00:20:18] And when you keep focused on that,
[00:20:20] let me tell you something,
[00:20:21] you don't want to sin.
[00:20:25] If that's your focus,
[00:20:26] if you realize the price that was paid,
[00:20:29] you don't want to sin.
[00:20:30] You don't want to be distracted.
[00:20:33] You don't want something to slip in
[00:20:35] and become an idol to you,
[00:20:39] even religion.
[00:20:45] You hear me?
[00:20:46] Paul says,
[00:20:47] and I, brother, when I came to you
[00:20:49] it came not with the excellency
[00:20:50] of speech or of wisdom
[00:20:52] declaring to you the testimony of God
[00:20:54] for I determined not to know

[00:20:57] Save Jesus Christ and Him crucified
[00:21:00] and I was with you in weakness
[00:21:02] and in fear and in much trembling

[00:21:06] was not with the enticing words

[00:21:08] but in the demonstration
[00:21:09] of the spirit and of power
[00:21:11] that your faith should not stand
[00:21:13] in the wisdom of men
[00:21:15] but in the power of God.
[00:21:18] Listen, our goal in life
[00:21:20] is to stay focused on Jesus,
[00:21:26] on what He has revealed to us
[00:21:28] what He has provided for us
[00:21:30] in this new covenant
[00:21:33] and to seek for His power
[00:21:38] to be in and flow through
[00:21:39] our lives to other people.
[00:21:43] I want to see,
[00:21:43] that's what I want to see more of
[00:21:44] in 2019.
[00:21:48] You know, we had a couple visits
[00:21:49] from Oklahoma last week.
[00:21:54] Just came out of the Hebrew roots
[00:21:56] Torah deception,
[00:21:57] rejoicing in that.
[00:22:00] Been suffering,
[00:22:01] the wife been suffering
[00:22:02] with horrible back pain
[00:22:05] for a long time.
[00:22:07] Said she did everything she knew to do.
[00:22:09] Was trying to keep the law
[00:22:10] in every way she could keep it.
[00:22:13] She finally leaves that deception
[00:22:14] and enters into getting back
[00:22:16] focused on the new covenant
[00:22:18] and the relationship
[00:22:19] we're to have with Jesus
[00:22:21] and our Creator
[00:22:22] in this new covenant.
[00:22:24] And she comes to church
[00:22:26] all the way from Oklahoma
[00:22:28] and I got the testimony
[00:22:29] the Lord told me to pray for.
[00:22:32] Like hands on her anointed
[00:22:33] with oil and pray for her back
[00:22:34] to be healed that morning.
[00:22:36] He said don't you let her leave
[00:22:37] before you lay hands
[00:22:38] and pray for her.
[00:22:39] He told me that in prayer that morning
[00:22:42] and she immediately testified
[00:22:44] she was instantly healed.
[00:22:46] They flew back to Oklahoma
[00:22:48] and I got another testimony
[00:22:49] that she is doing
[00:22:50] that she was doing great.
[00:22:53] But see that's what,
[00:22:54] listen we got
[00:22:56] we got people out there
[00:22:57] that want to mock.
[00:22:59] They want to mock casting out demons
[00:23:01] and healing the sick.
[00:23:02] It's interesting though
[00:23:03] they don't do it.
[00:23:07] They don't do it
[00:23:08] but they sure mock it.
[00:23:10] But let me let me just tell you
[00:23:11] that that mama
[00:23:12] who's got to raise her children
[00:23:16] and homeschool and work
[00:23:19] and everything else she's got to do.
[00:23:23] Let me tell you what
[00:23:24] that means something to her doesn't it?
[00:23:27] And that's what he's saying here.
[00:23:28] You know what I don't care
[00:23:29] you folks want to get out
[00:23:30] also want to argue
[00:23:31] about all this theology.
[00:23:34] I'm just going to keep preaching
[00:23:35] the simple gospel of Jesus

[00:49:01] praying and seeking God
[00:49:02] and this the presence of God
[00:49:03] came all over me
[00:49:04] and I'm just sitting there
[00:49:05] in a puddle of tears
[00:49:07] going this is such
[00:49:09] this is such the truth
[00:49:11] that we can't allow ourselves
[00:49:12] to get distracted from
[00:49:14] Lord we rejoice
[00:49:16] in the simple gospel
[00:49:18] of Jesus Christ
[00:49:19] Lord and that
[00:49:20] you said God
[00:49:21] all we have to do
[00:49:22] is believe
[00:49:24] repent
[00:49:25] follow you
[00:49:28] Lord it's a supernatural thing
[00:49:29] being born again
[00:49:31] Lord I pray

[00:49:37] Lord that you would just
[00:49:39] Lord if they're not saved

[00:49:42] to the name of Jesus

[00:49:46] you died for their sins
[00:49:47] you paid the price
[00:49:48] and that only you
[00:49:49] can wash their sins away
[00:49:51] that they will believe
[00:49:52] you rose from the dead
[00:49:53] on the third day
[00:49:55] and that they will
[00:49:56] surrender their lives
[00:49:57] to your lordship
[00:50:00] to the new covenant
[00:50:03] and walk with you
[00:50:04] and press in to know you
