# NIST Privacy Framework to DPDPA Implementation Checklist

**Version:** 1.1 | **Date:** October 17, 2026 (citations checked against the notified DPDP Rules 2025) | **Source:** [StateCheck Security](https://statechecksecurity.com)

**Purpose:** This checklist guides organizations with existing NIST Privacy Framework implementations to extend their programs for DPDPA compliance.

**Audience:** Security architects, privacy engineers, compliance leads, DPOs

**How to use:** Work through each function sequentially. Mark items as complete only when you have documented evidence of the control's implementation.

---

## Pre-Assessment (Do This First)

- [ ] **Determine SDF status** — Are you notified as a Significant Data Fiduciary? Check MeitY notifications.
- [ ] **Document current NIST PF coverage** — Which subcategories are currently implemented? Use the mapping matrix.
- [ ] **Identify gap areas** — Compare your current NIST implementation against the crosswalk tables.
- [ ] **Assign DPDPA compliance owner** — Who owns the gap remediation roadmap?
- [ ] **Set target compliance date** — When must you achieve full DPDPA compliance?
